Just used your 2d photo to 3d tutorial, was easy to understand and it saved the day on a project i ahve to hand in, thumbs up. I've used AE only a few times in the past but am going to be using it alot more after visiting this site great work.

Hey, I was just wondering if anyone has any thoughts on how to reduce image flicker and aliasing with this technique. I did something using 4 high-res photos of people, but my editor is complaining about all the flickering. He suggests I scale down the pictures in photoshop to a smaller size instead of importing the full-size ones into AE. Does anyone have any thoughts on this issue? Thanks.

Great work on the volcano footage! Nothing but respect here. You have been a great help for me on some visual FX I was stuck on without money to pay a pro to do. Have you thougth about a tutorial on a shatter effect negative so that it looks like the ground is falling out?

Very good tutorial. I'm a senior citizen. I was a Videographer and Editor as well as doing special effects, what w/my unlimited imagination..I can't afford AE, unless you know where I could get it very reasonable. What I did learn from your tutorial is how to do something w/Photo Shop, which I've been trying to learn. I have Photoshop 6. Am I able to do what you did w/my version 6 ? Hey i tried this effect it worked cool on a test video

then later i tried to make it on a full video of my own pictures of 20 secs only

whn i try to export it into AVI

all i get is a 2GB file for 20 sec video

moreover the video is just a GREEN screen

At 1:12 into the tutorial when you zoom in, your orbital tool changes to some other tool to zoom in on the picture. How did you change to that tool? I can't seem to figure out how to zoom in. Please help.

Hey Andrew,

here's a Tut for you: In mine sweeper, if you have flagged a mine surrounded by, say, three "1"s and a bunch of still greyed out fields, click on one of the "1"s with both mouse buttons. That way you tell the game that that "1" has all necessary mines already assigned to it and every field surrounding that "1" will be revealed. You're gonna be a lot quicker then. :D

I didn't really want to write that, but got carried away... you know how it works... Thanks for keeping this going! You've helped me quite a lot!

I'm new to after effects, I have version cs3. It seems like I am losing some quality during my exporting. I tried exporting as an avi with no compression, it created the file but I was unable to open it in Premiere Pro because of a codec. What am I doing wrong, where can I get this codec? I am currently exporting as a *.dv file.

Congrats on the baby girl!!

About those emails concerning photoshop and that these are AE tutorials. I think you're doing a great job to inlude photoshop. I'm sure there are many people that may not be as experienced with photoshop in order to do the tutorial on here. However if 90% of your tutorial is on AE, it shouldn't matter if your including photoshop in it.
It just happens that photoshop was required in order to produce this effect in AE.
Keep it up, my 2 cents...

okay loved the tutorial first of, but for the muzzle fire thing us auto orient if you use a more complex camera movement, and for your cartonificaion post on how to convert video into a cartoon, take it into photo shop and use a filter to take the colors used down, so instead of the colors blending you can see a like only 7 colors
do that in batch mode

Ha, aw man, this has been my job for the past year and a bit: cutting out and animating pics of families, celebrities, and products for documentary shows.

For scenic shots (mountains), it looks really good to throw a sky/cloud layer behind and slowly move it or use an offset distortion. Snow and steam are other good effects to bring pics to life.

Love this TUTorial......Man Keep them coming the best teacher I ever had.....but not spelling teacher, she was fine as hell....
