by Sharief 08/20/2009
Thank you again Andrew!
by Colin 06/30/2009
Great stuff Andrew.....as usual! Just as a couple of other people have posted, my rendered out comp is jumpy and jittery during the stretched bits, even though Frame Blend is turned on. What gives? My source file is at 24 fps and I'm using AE CS3. Thanks again!
by Eric 06/19/2009
That was extremely helpful. Thank you very very much. That made my day.
by Austin 06/02/2009
Is the footage from a movie? If so, which one?
by Paroxit 05/28/2009
awesome... thank you
by Austin 04/24/2009
I noticed there are not any project files. I was wondering if there is a way I could get the footage that was used.
by KAYEF 04/23/2009
Hey andrew I am 14 years old and from germany so I am sorry for my bad english;).First : VERY cool tutorial thanks! and second: I had seen that many guys here want to see how to do the 300 colour effekt. And I want to see it too.Pleeeease make a Tutorial..That would be very nice
by kurt 04/18/2009
hey andrew i love your tutorial...have seen almost everyone. i watched this one and i now know how to use the time remap, but i was wondering how you created the colors to look like "300"?
by tommy 03/18/2009
wow...all i have to say
by Kas ILLuzion 03/04/2009
???????, ???????. ?? ??????.(Thanks Andrew. You are the Best.)
by Alex 01/29/2009
i was trying to use the Frame Blending switch used to "interpolate" the frames, but the switch isn't available for me to use. where there should be a box that i can click on to use the Frame Blending, there isn't. im not sure what i need to do to enable the switch.
by shamel 01/13/2009
my question is how long have you been using after effect.

did you have some schooling that helped you become so creative.
by lomino 12/30/2008

by Mikkel Riise Lund 11/25/2008
Thanks a lot. Learned a little more. Couldn't you give us a whole video on Timewarp? It could be cool to really learn how to use it. Haven't been able to find any tutorials on the web that were saticefying on that topic. Looking forward to see it!!
Mikkel

I love your site! Great Tutorial. Do you have a more thorogh tutorial on how to achieve the type of surreal color effect that was used in the film 300? I'd love to know how to do that....
by Andy Ahadit 09/03/2008
you are amazing...i wish someday i can be like you.. or even surpassed..lol
by Charlie Bullen 08/27/2008
Great vid, just wondering how you did the 300 style colour correction, did you use an effect with it? thanks :D
by Randenie 08/13/2008
I've tried this, but when I right clock on the timeline to add the Time Remap, there is nothing there. Is it because I'm using After Effects 6.5?
by Andrew Gregg 08/06/2008
Hey guys,

This video on speed variation seems to be down at the moment. If you could get it back up, it would be of great help to me as I'm in the middle of a case that needs an effect like this.

Thanks!

by Jan 06/08/2008
A awesome tutorial. Thanks!
by Kevin 06/05/2008
Thank you for making this tutorial! I've been looking around for a tutorial like this for about 3 months now. But hopefully you'll be able to answer this one question: for doing effects like this, and like in 300 what frame rate would you recommend recording in? And how much will the quality of your capture card affect the quality of the slowed down and sped up scenes? If you have a recommendation it'd be great if you'd tell me what one you use, and what might be just as good. Thanks, Kevin (WA)
by TYGUY 06/01/2008
I have after effects 5.5. is it possible to make the frame blender look clearer or crisper. I can't make the quality go up.
by hey 05/31/2008

Salut from Nicaragua, Latin America
by Fred Olen Ray 05/01/2008
I have used Timewarp at 50% a few times and what I've learned is that if you change the interpretation of the original clip to loop "2" times the footage can then be dragged out with one simple step.
by Brom 04/12/2008
Another great tut! Thanks!

thnx
by Alex Koski 01/16/2008
You are the one and only! Andrew Rulz!
by Stanley Tang 01/16/2008
Good tutorial, one thing I want to point out though is you don't need to precomp your footage in order to use Timewrap. A better and easier way is add the effect on an adjustment layer on top of the footage. OR add the effect to a normal solid and use the footage as "wrap layer" for the effect.
by yia xiong 01/08/2008
andrew, shooting to do this effect, do you just used stand 23.97 frame rate
by Normann 01/02/2008

by jms 11/08/2007
Nice tut, cool examples, however I must say that after comparing twixtor plugin (motion weighted blend) and this technique's perfomances... ...it seemed to me as a loss of time. At extreme stretching with wiggly motion especially, cheers, great work.
by Goose 11/07/2007
Great stuff but i would also like to know how you did the "Ink"...
by Dan 11/03/2007

I used this in my latest skateboard video,
speeding up before the trick, then making it crazily slow during it, then fast after.
Creates an excellant effect.

Thanks.

This is one of the best tutorials. i had seen, keep it up andrew
by Mario Mey 10/05/2007
Thanks a lot, friend. Your tutorials are really helpfull for me. Here in Argentina, we would say "Le ponés onda a los tutoriales". Something like "You give a cool style to the tutorials".

Why don't you put this proyect to download? I knew about the speed variation, but I like the color corrections you applied to the movie. I want to learn about it.

A hug.

Wow, very useful tutorial. Especially like in the opening credits to a video, it can slow down to each person, and show their name on the screen. Kudos.
by mark michael Curativo 09/20/2007
hi andrew... thanks for your one of a kind..he3. ive learned a lot..

mark (Philippines)
by Scrange 09/19/2007
Hey, awesome tutorial. But when i slow up my footage, it gets really really jumpy. It is almost as if I'm using the wiggle function on it. Even though i do the frame blending or pixel motion, it doesn't help the jumpiness at all
by elvin 09/19/2007
wow! another great tutorial love it so much! i learned a lot of things it really inspires me to make my own vid! wow cool tuts! keep on going!
