223 RESPONSES TO "ORGANIC MESH IN 3D MAX"

by sam 11/15/2009
Hi Andrew, long time fan and one time customer, I was wondering if there is any tip for achieving camera movement in 3dmax like the one you used in this tut. Thanks to you and your wonderful work, we learned how to use camera wiggle in AE. Is there similar trick in 3dmax? I do not want to use many key frames in max for camera. I use two dummys to control pan and tilt for camera but can not make it wiggle...any hint or link would be highly appreciated....Rgds-Sam

by suman 12/04/2008
It's amazing
by OMG its me 12/03/2008
hehe, nice to see you fiddling in max too, but its kind of obvious you're better at after effects.

If you wanna add contrast to a procedural map like noise, just do it by adjusting the curve in the output rollout of the noise. That way, you're not clampling ;)
by c jackson 12/03/2008
how to send you my demon face project ?

wow max is so cake...its like i could make that in maya, but it would take a couple hours to get the textures to get that nice slimy real look. awesome job haha
by Chad 12/01/2008
Andrew,
I think that it is awesome that you are now getting into the realm of 3d and writing tutorials for it. I feel however that 3d is a seperate part of post production however. Maybe having a seperate site, or section devoted to 3d work would be beneficial. Just a thought...
by Mereu 12/01/2008
hey... effects -> solution particle is a plugin ?? pls i dont have this...i have adobe cs4
by CJJ 11/30/2008

VERY COOL TUTO!!!
PLEASE MORE 3D ´S MAX
THANX
by Brian 11/27/2008
Looks like the Kramenator is moving from AE to 3D more... It would be great if he did a series of tutes on that! Honestly, I think he's covered most of everything in AE aside from the creative process!

What do you say Andrew? Start a set of 3D tutorials for non-noob beginners? Even if you didn't post them here and just did a DVD that would be awesome... say 10-20 lessons to get someone from AE with no 3D experience into Max or Maya, or even Blender...

Ah a man can dream can't he?!?!?
by sham 11/27/2008

by Da Fur 11/22/2008
Hey Andrew, I realy like your tutorials. Not only the good old technical stuff but it looks great and it's alot of fun. I was just working on a title sequence (something like this tut.) for my first short film. So thanks, it realy helps. In another scene we recorded 2 characters walking closer to eachother (greenscreen) while the ground crumbles down behind them (3Ds). In de background I was thinking A-bomb explosions forming very dark firery clouds. So maybe you can use this for a tutorial.
That would be so cool!
Thanks
p.s. Don't let your baby grow up to be an animator

by Wael Ali Hassan 11/22/2008
Great tutorial man, but I need from you to explain how to make these looping without flickering or other stuff?
It doesnot have to bewith an object, we can try it first with text, then by a footage of clouds running, then by a ball rolling, so we can know how to make looping perfectly.
It is yur fault, because you are the best/
by MM 11/22/2008
Nice...(can you make a transformers tutorial??):D

by ionica 11/21/2008
for the 3d camera u can simply copy the first key frame to the last frame. TaDaa!!! Just be sure to make the before last 1 close to the first so u have a nice flow not a jumpy 1. uh...and u can use the falloff map in the opacity slot for really interesting effects 2. 10x andrew for ur work. I'm just trying to give back a little...

Hey! THANX ALOT for this tutorial, Andrew! :]
i LOVE your 3Ds Max Tutorials, and i really wanna improve my finishing touches with the software, like lightning, texturing, rendering.

i Just Wish those kind of tutorials would be longer! i know youre a busy man, and we should all just thank u for what u throw at us, but i gotta say, i dont wanna make my projects so automated. and create them so technically by following the steps. i would love if u could throw in a word, here and there, just explaining what u are doing...explaining the reason behind your steps, so we could use the tools u give us, for something other than creating the same exact project :]
Thanx alot! And have a great weekend, all of u! :]
by Jim Mamay 11/20/2008
Damn. 10 minutes of spot-on practical example equals 100 hours of fumbling around trying to get something to work. Modeling techniques materials sane render configuration = fabulous. So often tutorials, manuals, books are so specific and tailored to the desired "outcome" or "look" that a general application of the techniques learned is not possible. i.e. Everything works great until you move a light or tweak a render setting and then your animation turns to crap and you can't engineer a solution. Your tutorial taught me the underlying methodology and approach to problem solving which is often lacking from typical instruction. What is the functionality of the software and how should I apply it to my project.
Thank you very, very much.
Cheers,
Jim

Is it Christmas already????? Great job...u the man!
by Jerry 11/20/2008
Thanks Andrew. It amazes me watching you fly through huge programs like this with such ease. I think I drooled all over my keyboard watching 3DMax create stuff under your guidance. I can't wait until I can afford it and follow along with you. Excellent tutorial Andrew. You are amazing.
by Kael 11/20/2008
Great stuff, Andrew! I'm a Maya user, myself, but the more and more I see you demonstrate 3DSMax, the more I want to use it instead! Haha. Mostly, I'm jealous of the Materials system. It seems much better than Maya's.

by Paolo 11/19/2008
i think you went overly fast, and i was looking forwards to seeing how you created a camera movement that looped itself back into its original frame without looking like it did, much like u wrote on your original post. Nice tutorial but definetely not one of your best. Thanks a lot for everything though. maybe a part 2?
