Hi! Great tutorials. I've just started with After Effects, more as a hobby, and your tutorials really make it easier to get my teeth into the programme!
I was wondering how you increased the speed of the energy. I followed the tutorial before this and got quite a slow energy effect, so it doesn't woosh past like yours does and looks a little awful, what with the text distorting and finishing to distort before the whole effect has gone past. Any ideas? Also, noticed the energy was a lot more streamlined. Obviously I'm not looking to copy you directly, but I cannot achieve the end result that you have, and it's kind of annoying!
Any help would be greatly appreciated. :)

Is there a way to render this effect with alpha and preserve the color. When I try and render without the black background it get a black box around the energy effect. Yep... I'm a noob!

One problem I notice is the light from the 'energy' drops off sharply on the left.

I realise this is because of edge of the layer.
Is there any way around this beyond making the layer larger. I get this a lot when using trapcode shine. It would be great if it could 'spill' over to the other layers

I want o ask you something I guess many people are gonna be interested knowing the answer to.
What camera would you prefer working with? Since this question depends of many variables I want to focus it this ways.
Let´s suppose that you are asked to propose a new TV series in a local network, it is low budget, but they wish to make it something between “Supernatural� and “Heroes� in terms of style and use of special effects, and they ask you to come with a trailer of 5 minutes of ideas and concepts, lots of cool effects, look for color and texture of the picture, etc.

They give you 6 months for you to work in it, you have only two people for staff, a basic set of lights only able to light small interior places, a couple of actors, some locations (houses of friends of the producer, basically) and they give you to choose a camera HDV of any kind, of up to $10,000 dollars in value, at this stage you can´t buy or use any complements or extras for the camera, like optical lenses, filters, etc.

Now, which camera would you pick and why?

I have a couple of propositions, would you pick anyone of them or would you go with another.

Panasonic P2
JVC GY-HD100

I know this question is very hard, since each camera accomplishes different things, but I want to know what Andrew Kramer would use.

Ammmmmmmmaaaaaazing work kramer :)!! Im a HUGE fan of yours, Loved your DVD's!! Just wondering if you could create a tuto for growing flame or electricity generated from the hands like in heroes or so, thought about using a combination of camera focus [Through AE] a bit of slow motion and inks from riot gear to make the flame from hands effect, Altho would suck that it isnt in real time.
