Thanks Andrew. The "Levels" and "Simple Choker" were two good advices. They never cross my mind when I use Keylight.

Do I really need a green screen to shoot the footage? Can I just use like a white sheet instead?

For some reason, my TOP layer (which has the green screen) is coming up less than 100% opaque in my composite...you can see

Yeah, great tut! I was fiddling around with the screen gain and got unwanted results, such as strange artifacts and lots of noise...a friend of mine recommended this tutorial.... and i love it..got my keying right this time:)!

This is a amazing tutorial, but i have a problem whit my chroma, i m using a panasonic 100b, and the video had some grain problem when i start to apply the keylight... the origin video look great, but when i use the clip black everythings #%&!!!! what is the problem here?

Great tutorial, and find in most situations I tried it with it does a great job, however I too like some others would love to see an advanced Chroma Key tutorial for those much more difficult situations such as badly lit green screens that are harder to extract or objects that reflect some of the chroma key and detailed objects like hair and shadows. How would you go about this? Using a Matte technique maybe? This is where I need to call on your expertise as mine fails.....keep up the great work

If i'm not mistake, beside than keying light, we're also can using the other keying features- this is because all of them have very similar functions- it's up to you, the way you manipulate the features-depend on your creativity-

Guys, keylight is a very powerful keying tool but you have to purchase it. But let us not just depend om it. The color key is also a powerful plug in.

For those that are complaining about not having Keylight.

Keylight is included with After Effects versions 6.0, 6.5, 7 & CS3. It is on the "extras" or "3rd party plugins" disk. It does not auto install, you have to install it yourself.

If you got your copy AE from a file sharing network the extra stuff was probably not included.

If you bought AE & the plugin isn't on any of the discs that Adobe sent, give customer support a call.

Keylight comes with AE 6.5 Pro and above, however it does not come pre-installed with AE. It has its own, separate installation. That means that if you install AE without installing Keylight, you won't find it when you click Effect-Keying.

If you want to install keylight, put in the AE installation disc, and when the autoplay comes up, click the option to install keylight (it works this way with 6.5). If you can't find it, then try browsing the contents of the disc directly. If you still can't find it, its likely that you don't have a Pro version. If you know you have a Pro version, or if you have CS3, and still can't find it, you just haven't looked hard enough.

A very useful tutorial for all of us who use keylight. However, it could be interesting a new tutorial called 'advanced color keying' which would analize more complex projects. In example tips for affronting long hair (specially curl long hair) or blurred parts of the body when it's moving.

I also have the shaky edge problem. I think it's keyed out perfectly then when I play the video back their edges have a strobe effect.. like characters from dr katz.

hey, for those who have after effects 7 you can find the key light labeled as color key instead but im pretty sure they are the same thing!! i just searched through the effects-> keying -> and i found "color key", oh and thanx andrew im a begginer in adobe after effects and your tutorials helped me come farther then i thought i would have, keep making them great tutorials!!
