Need to ask you a question regarding this tutorial. Let’s say that you have a chessboard and you want that every cube works as a meter for each sound (Bass, Treble) moving Up side Down, also that cubes are 3d, so whit a couples of cams can be see it from any angle.

Hay. Great turtorial. I just have one problem, which is the trapcode particular has two red lines in an "x" form across the preview windows and when I render it, they still show in the rendered file. Is there a way to remove these lines??

Pretty cool stuff. For beginers who is not used to expresions i suggest to create a folder where the work will be saved and create a notepad in that folder so that you can write expresions and some tips to remember how to create it in the future :)

Dude, if it weren't for you and the guys from Creative Cow I'd still be staring at the interface of AE and wondering what the hell I was meant to do! Awesome tutorials, well presented and clearly explained!

Can I suggest that anyone trying to emulate this technique get their hands on the original 'stem mixes' of the track they're using i.e. individual drum parts, bass, vocals etc, and sync separate visuals to each layer of the track. If you make your own music (like me!) then import the WAV's from your projects prior to your final mixdown, that way you'll have freedom and flexibility to have effects that respond to each individual element!

i have just a quick question. graphic intensive projects like these seem to need time to "load" in windows media player for me. its almost like i have the composition in after effects and it needs to do a RAM preview to make it play full-res and smooth. I have a dualcore with a top of the line graphics card. any workaround for this?

Just a question. I created a composition with the audio waveform effect Andrew showed at the end of the video, and used a 3 minute song as the source. When it comes to rendering the video with audio, is it supposed to have a file size of..5GB? The composition size is 1200x780 in case that makes a huge difference

I'm an editor and you've just convinced me to jack that in and move to special effects. A revelation! Good lad!

Extracting audio I never saw to be revolutionatry, Trapcode SoundKeys does it rather elegantly, but essentially does the same thing.

What was really interesting was using Particular as a "spray hose" - I see now Trapcode have just brought out a new plugin which appears to do what Particular, Sound Keys and Andrew's tutorial does, all in a single package called "Form" - check it out. www.trapcode.com

Hey Andrew. I just came today by your site and wanted to tell you these are truly the most complete and interesting tutorials I have ever found. Thanks a lot for your work.

This one is one of my favorites to date. I would like to ask you if it's possible to animate an object on it's Z axis grabbing data from the slider. I supposo, I would have to add a camera, select 3D layer option for layer to animate and so on.
I'm not really shure of how the "linear" function would change though.

Hey Andrew..great tutorial..as always..but i've got a little problem..when i try to render the project with the audio output, after some frames of rendering an error comes out :"An unspecified AVI or DirectShow error occured" and the rendering stops...i've tried to change the "format option" in the video output of the rendering menu but nothing change...does enyone can help me please??

OK, so this was awesome. I'm totally going to use this. And after a couple of minutes messing around, I figured out how to do the Justin Timberlake effect. I'm not sure if anyone is interested so here's a "quick and dirty."

Do the "Generate Audio Waveform" to a solid like Andrew talked about and then take some video and put it on top of that (in the composition). You would usually want a green-screen video so you could just take the person singing, dancing, or whatever, but you can use anything. After you key out the green screen, use Colorama and set the output cycle to Ramp Grey.

Then, set the trackMatte on the Waveform layer to the Luma of the video with Colorama. You can adjust the contrast on the video layer to achieve your desired effect. Then you could do what you want. That will at least get you the person in motion as a waveform.

after hours of searching I found a nice solution for the following problem (I had in this tut too):
AE 7 (language A) cant import some of the Expressions wrote in language B, because AE wont translate it...

Great Tutorial. But I think you should really have a look at the tutorial of Maltaannon. This way you can scale the Amplitute better and you don't have to search the max and min values yourself.

Hey! Pretty clever stuff with that Bass & Treble filter. I always do that kind of stuff in Audition and I never thought that it will actually change the result of Convert Audio to Keyframes. Also, I'd like to say that some time ago I did a tutorial on Convert Autio to Keyframes. What's interesting is that it looks for the Max and Min values automatically and then applies Linear expression. Have you seen it?
