Hey, I have used this tutorial in the past, and I thank you for it.

Anyways, my computer is a VERY good computer, and it doesn't render nearly as fast as yours... Could you tell me why? Mine is set to half resolution, and it doesn't even render while I move the camera (I have to stop moving for it to render).

If anyone can help me find the solution to this problem, please contact me at darkesthour_12345@hotmail.com...

when i render my text is blurry how do i fix?
by HaLo2FrEeEk 05/10/2009
Hey man, great tutorial, really helped me improve my camera movements. I found a neat way to simulate the depth of field on the text objects, too. Just add a fast blue to them and set it to about .5 or 1 and add a wiggle expression with something like (.5,2) and it'll randomly blur and unblur, makes it blend a lot better.

Thanks again, these tutorials are amazing!
by Vilius 05/08/2009

I want to get the text in the middle of the thing don't know how to call it. But if i do it whit the camera orbit's it's only go around the text it's go around all of them :S

I hope you understand it.

by Mehmet 04/19/2009
Thank you very much man. Allah?na kurban (:

But i have a problem. My problem is im getting blur titles according to camera focus depth altough i clicked to "Draft 3D" button. An interesting point is i dont get tihs problem when i export video (file>export>avi menu). Just when i render from render queue.

My second problem is i have a bad english (:
I hope u understand me. What should i do?

Thanks again. You are a good guy. We love you.

Hey, I don't like to repeat myself; but your tutorials are awesome. Thx so much for sharing.
by Leo 03/31/2009
Ok Everyone. For those of you having the blurry text issue whenever you render your video. You have to make sure that ALL your render settings are set to (Current Settings). You can find these settings in the actual Render Queue or under the composition options.

Also you may need to save your project and reboot after effects again in order to see the changes take affect.

For anymore questions email me at: Leokahokuma@hotmail.com

-Cheers!

by Frederik 12/15/2008
Hey Andrew i LOVE your tutorials!!

But i have a little problem with this one :/ and i was hoping you could help me?

When i write the first text on the "spore" and render it, it is very VERY blurry and you cant see what it says :( i have done the thing with "Draft 3D" and followed your guide exactly (i hope).

I was wondering if anyone else had this problem? i have tried putting the text in the middle so the "Depth of Field" doesn't affect it, but that doesn't look cool / right.

So please Andrew help me.

Andrew, I need help with this tutorial. Disabling the DOF on the Type by pushing the DRAFT 3D Button does not work in a Final render. It works in the RAM Preview Version Only. Is there a setting I'm missing when I set up my Final Render? Rendering it in Draft form in the Output module makes the type bitmapped. Help Quick, PLEASE!

Thanks!

SPECIAL RENDERING NOTE: To render with DRAFT 3D use the 'Current Settings' Render preset in the Render Queue. "By Andrew Cramer""

Thanks again!
by Qwizztest 05/25/2008
Amazing. I just worked through this tutorial, and it was excellent. You are a natural when it comes teaching (and motion graphics!). I had a problem though. The "Draft 3D" toggle switch worked to trick AE into not applying DOF to my titles, but when I render out a final product, DOF is on for everything. Am I missing a Render setting I wonder...?

Again excellent tutorials.
by Boha 05/24/2008

by Boha 05/23/2008

by jaroo 04/16/2008
Thanks for the awsome tutorial andrew, sir! lol.
Hilberto I have the same problem with the text blur, the effect for skipping the elements doesnt seem to affect the rendered version by basic settings. To make things go a little quicker turn particular to preview and turn off DoF on camera. It will still be choppy if you dont have a fast computer but better to work with when your fixing cameras etc. I got a nvidia 8600, 4gb ram, 2,4 ghz c2d and I still have problems...

First of all good work on the tutorials, havn't seen any other tutorials like these anywhere else.
You have a friend here in Belize, anytime you want to take a vacation, Belize is just 2 hours from Miami.
1 question. I tried this tutorial and when I did the final render with Render Queue. The quality looks exellent because I rendered DV 720x480. But the text I entered looks all blurred out because of the draft 3d button I have selected. How can I resolve this?
2. Tip, I dont have a very fast computer and it takes pretty long just to orbit camera around objects, so I found it difficult to position the Null object to the center of the Particular 2 object. I found it easier to look in the particular emitter properties x,y,z coordinates and paste them into the null object coordinates, thereby getting the exact position of the particular position. Its not an important discovery but for those learning like me and with slow computers, I guess its just a useful tip.
Thanks Again for your great tutorials Andrew.....
by DAvid G 04/03/2008
Very cool Andrew, I love it! But I still have problem to do it. The only thing is the button draft 3d, it doesn't work when I do a render. Even your file. Everything is blured. I use an french after effect version....
Maybe someone can help me.

Hello Andrew Kramer,

I got a Question concerning this technique.
What, if i have more than two points in a 3D Area that i fly with the camera to?

I think I can switch to a second camera(startposition is the end position data of cam 1) and a new null, and repeat the technique.

But is there an easier way with scripts or expressions?

When I render this out, even though I have draft 3d mode checked on, text seems to retain the DOF of the camera. Ive played around with everything I know that might affect it and nothing good yet. Anyone else encounter this??

- cant you just shoot sand/snow w a tripod - then walk on it. open 2 layers in after effects and use linear wipe between the 2 layers to get rid of the person. throw in some film magic pro .. ha ha

Got Stuck at the Depth of Field part..

- hit "a" twice on Camera, turned on Depth of Field
- click on the particles layer, but cant find "Full Render + DOF Square (AE)"

only see "Render Mode: Full Render" and "Motion Preview"

Using AE CS3
Particular v1.0.1

by McLovin 12/18/2007
@ Fest1,
There maybe several reasons it takes so long for your "Ram" preview, but here are 2 things
that may help.

1. Go to "Edit", then "Purge", then "All".

2. In your Comp window bottom right
the "Fast Preview" button I use
"Adaptive Resolution".

See if those 2 things help at all.

To Andrew,
Thanks again for a wonderful tutorial!

by jeff 12/18/2007
Good stuff, just what i needed.

I guess beggers cant be choosers but i'll ask anyway:
how about a tutorial on importing a maya camera and a few elements, logos or something. or better yet, paint effects drawing on with the camera following it and some particular thrown in for good messure. that shouldn't be to hard, right? :/

by Tim 12/17/2007
Thanks a lot Andrew!

This answered so many questions I had.

Now, it just needs a "PART 2"...

How to import an animated logo sequence from MAX. Something where the MAX camera is animated a lot on the Z axis like what you have done here. It would would be great if the camera simply went from one logo (with simple animated letters bouncing or whatever) to another animated logo, having the camera stop and look at each logo and then flying onto the next. Then, how to export that sequence with camera data into AE for Particular, Shine effects, etc.

Anyway... just in case you have some free time on your hands (yea, right) I'm guessing that with a new baby girl you probably aren't even sleeping much.

Congrats by the way!
