Sorry to ask, but I can't link velocity (layer "particles", physics) to the control layer, as I can't make the needed sign for stretching and linking (looks like the spiral, I'm not sure about it's name. You called it like pickwig or so) to apper. Could you help, please. I'm Russian, and I'm trying to do sth in AE for the first time.)))

Hi Victor,
my advice for you is to use the following effect:
Effects > Blur & Sharpen > CC Radial Blur.
Set Type as "Straight zoom"
Set Amount around 15

The effect is realy similar.
You must applicate this effect to the layer "Particle".

You mention "forward arrow" to move forward 10 frames... I'm using a Bella keyboard.. could you give me an idea what "forward arrow" looks like?

great tutorial! though I do have a question, the second time I tried to recreate this, the particles kept flickering on and off in frames (ie: one frame its there, the next one its not, and so forth)
why does this happen and how can I fix it?

I have exactly the same problem. It seems to be connected to the particle birth rate size. As I increase the value some of the particles start to flicker on and off. Some help would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance :)

Is Camera Lens Blur the same as Lens Blur? It's the only one that has lens blur in it's name. I'm running CS5.5 on a school computer (we just upgraded to windows 7) so I don't really have the installation disk, so will Camera Lens Blur work?

hey guys. re particle explosion tutorial 94. I love it but cannot seem to get your expression connecting particle x,y,z positions to the null layer. Have typed it in manually and pretty sure it is exactly as per your expression you created. However, I keep on getting window error saying expression disabled. underneath that it specifically says:

error occurred at line 1.
comp: 'comp 3'
layer: 3 ('particle')
property: 'Position X'

It shows same error respectively for Y and Z position as well.

Any ideas why this is happening? I have quintuple checked!

You need to be sure that the Null layer name (in the exppression) is the same as you named it. otherwise it wont work
