hey Andrew, I'm happy to write to you...

Actually i've a problem...

I'm making a video for a blood donating awareness and I use your tutorial (Medical zoom), my problem is when i downloaded the project and tried to use the RED Cells video to make png sequences it came out with black background, then i turned to this tutorial to see how can i remove the background, then it didn't work!!
I use keylight 1.2 and it doesn't remove the black BG, i tried to use color key but it keeps some black noisy around the smashed orange :D
thnx Andrew, hope u see it before it's too late :D

if you have a picture that has a black background just change it to screen blending mode. that usually works for me

ps: I shot a video in the bathroom, and put a lot of small square pink color paper on the wall, which is for better 3d tracking...and after that, I tried to use the keylight trying to transparent the square, but it doesn't work, and the whole video become very green...so just wondering how the keylight actually works..

You should use a color tone away from the skin tone, like green or blue, never pink. But, if there's no human figure on the screen, for your pink paper square removal it might be better to use the mask technique, I guess...

Hey, Andrew. Thanks for your tutorial, I'm new for AE,so sorry to ask you some very basic and stupid question. I'm just wondering whether the keylight can work on differnt color rather than green, and can it work on some small color quare thing(to make it transparent) rather than a color background?

Yes it is possible to use keylight for something besides blue and green. Apply the plugin on you footage then select Screen Colour and click the eye dropper tool on the section you want to key. This will not make it transparent without a clean back plate. You could use black squares and use red giants unmult plugin to make them transparent but you would have to Roto them out.

Andrew,

You're tutorials are great, but I'm posting again about this problem, cause I posted for tutorial #20 a few weeks ago, and the problem hasn't been fixed yet.

When I click on the "download tutorial" link, an option comes up to save the file "10-Colorkey.zip". I go ahead and save the file, but when I try to extract it, I can't because the ZIP file doesn't contain any actual files. I double click on it to open it and the file is empty.

I don't know if your code for those "download tutorial" links is broken or what. But I've tried to download the files with those links on other computers with different operating systems (except Macs) and I still get an empty ZIP file.

So far, every one of your tutorials that uses that TINY, and HARD TO FIND "Download Tutorial" link has linked to an EMPTY ZIP file. No wonder people keep asking where the footage is. It's easy enough to substitute other footage for several of the tutorials; but tutorial #20 REALLY NEEDS the footage that you shot to work properly.

Please, please fix these empty ZIP file broken links!

Thanks again!

I really appreciate this tutorial. I was so afraid to shoot anything in green screen because I had really wack results on previous projects. This helped me tremendously and I have overcome my fear of using green screen and AE. Thanks
