Optical Flares Licensing Issues and Troubleshooting
July 29th, 2008
First and foremost take a look at the installation video here to ensure that you are properly installing the plug-in: http://www.videocopilot.net/products/opticalflares/installation/

If you still encounter an issue with the licensing please try the following steps:
Make sure you have entered the hardware ID exactly as shown, sometimes "5" can be confused with "S" and the number "1" with the letter "I" and so on and so forth.

Please make sure the license file is named exactly as follows: OpticalFlaresLicense.lic

If the save as dialogue box does not appear:
-Make sure to check your browserís download directory folder before trying to generate a new license file as it sometimes will be saved directly into this location.
-We also recommend using the Firefox web browser when generating license files and you may also try clearing your internet cache prior to doing so.

If you are seeing a little emitter or a little black box in the middle that is covering some of the particles (Shockwave_Pulse_05.mov):
May 8th, 2014
This particular element was designed like this. The idea behind it was, that the shockwave first explodes out and then gets sucked back in some kind of hole. That?s what you can see, the smoke close to the middle getting sucked straight down which makes it look like there is some kind of emitter visible from the top view we rendered it from. In fact there is no object or emitter at this point in the scene, just a lot of velocities that are dragging the smoke straight down. One solution to make it less uniform looking, is you can feather that part out slightly with a mask to soften it a bit.
How do I make the Shockwaves look cool like Andrew did?
May 8th, 2014
Andrew will be making a tutorial on how to work with them in the near future. But for now you can add a tint and a glow on an adjustment layer to start playing around.
Do the elements have an Alpha Channel?
May 8th, 2014
The Shockwaves are pre-matted Elements, just like our Riot Gear product. This means you just need to duplicate the layer and add a luma track matte. Basically you are using the particle brightness as the alpha.
When I play back the sounds, they sound like they are pitched down
May 8th, 2014
This may be due to the audio properties being set wrong. They should be 16 bit, 48000 Hz (DVD Quality).

Red X in twitch?
July 29th, 2008
Sometimes, if the key file and the plug-in file are in the wrong place, or named incorrectly this issue can occur. To double check how it is done please use this link: http://www.videocopilot.net/products/twitch/help/
If you have any further questions, please contact support. The Twitch plug-in and the key file(twitch_ae.key) need to be placed directly inside of your AE Plug-ins folder and not in a sub folder.
Please also make sure you are using the correct version of the plug-in for your particular setup. The 32 bit version of the plug-in is for CS3/CS4 and the 64 bit version is for CS5/CS5.5 only. Please also make sure you are using the correct version for your platform (Mac or PC).

When I open one of the project files, I receive an error stating there are files missing.
July 29th, 2008
After you open the templates, and have copied the assets into a folder on your computer, you need to re-link the media files. To do this, right click on one of the missing elements and choose "Replace Footage > File", then navigate to the corresponding element from your collection, and select ok, AE should find the rest of the elements automatically after you locate the first one.
I am having trouble viewing the tutorial files, or there seems to be missing elements from my collection after I downloaded and extracted the files.
July 29th, 2008
Please make sure to extract the downloaded files from a non-temporary location such as your desktop or documents folder, this will preserver the file structure of the original archive and enable playback of the tutorails as well as easier location of the visual elements.
Trouble displaying elements in After Effects. Weird flickering or crashing... what can I do?
July 29th, 2008
Most display issues are related to quickTime incompatibility. Here are some things to try:

1. Be sure the files are on a fast internal hard drive. Sometimes USB drives cause crashing because of the data lag.
2. Be sure you video card driver is up to date.
3. Try to install the latest version of QuickTime or
4. Try to install a stable version 7.04 here
5. Be sure to install any After Effects patches
Designer Sound Effects
I downloaded and extracted the files, but most of them are only 1 second long!
July 29th, 2008
The majority of the sound elements inside of the DSFX collection are audio elements and not entire tracks, these small audio elements are used to enhance existing tracks.
