What type of computer do you record your tutorials with?
Dual quad-core Xeon @ 3 Ghz. 4 gigs of ram and a raptor drive and a Geforce 8800 GTX. Before that I used a custom built Intel Core 2 Duo 6800 Extreme Processor with 2GBs of DDR2 Ram and a Geforce 7950 GX2 as well as a 150GB 10k Raptor Hard Drive. For the early tutorials I used an Athlon X2 4200+ with 2GBs of Ram and Geforce 7800 GT and a 74GB 10k Raptor Drive.

Do your products work with other compositing applications like Final Cut Studio?
Most of our products work with final cut studio and virtually any quicktime compatible multi-track video application. For more information on Apple compatibility, click here. iMovie is not compatible because it only has 1 compositing track and you need at least 2. Some of our products like Film Magic Pro are compatible with After Effects only.

What kind of camera do you use?
For most of the video on the site, including the adventure guy, and the Serious Effects DVD, I used a Canon XL2. Most times filming in 24p and using the standard 20x lens. I'm now using a JVC HD 200 with one of those fancy 35mm adapters.

How can I learn after effects and get really good?
Well... go do something. Pick up a video camera and film something meaningful and use visual effects to enhance the shots. Try to figure out how certain visual effects were done. Follow my free tutorials and if they help you out then buy some DVDs too. If you buy enough of them maybe I'll come to your house and show you a thing or two.

I don’t have that Plug-in! Where are the CC effect or other plug-in you use in your tutorials?
The Cycore effects are part of the installation of After Effects CS3. When the software is activated the rest of the functional content including the Cycore effects are installed. The CC effects are not part of the Trial version of After Effects, but a demo can be downloaded from http://www.cycorefx.com
For After Effects 7 Professional and 6.5 Professional, these cycore effects are on the installation DVD and be installed separately. These plug-ins are only available through Adobe After Effects. |

Trouble with Presets or following Tutorial with my version of After Effects:
Please note our free tutorials and presets are presented “as is”. The presets require the professional version of After Effects. Some presets work with AE 6.5, 7, & CS3. Currently the Light Saber preset is not fully supported in AE CS3. An update is planned and developed but still require a bit more work.
