thanks soo much
I live in Holland and there are no such tutorials.
I realy love the presets, It makes it al so easy!!
And by the way congratulations with the birth of your lovely baby.
And the website looks great!!
Great stuff man. And thank you for all the hard work YOU put into helping us become better at what we're trying to achieve.
I am having a problem with the reflective preset. The reflection is being applied to the photo which makes it look like a gradient applied to the photo. Not a reflection like your tutorial.
Any suggestions?
thanks
Steve
Also, it raised a question. That would look sooooo good if the fog (fractal noise) was 3D. It looks flat in this example. Is it possible to make 3D fog in AE?
But in CS3 version it applies the preset. and i think that maybe it puts the "FX_Reflect" stuff in a wrong stack-order. Cause nothing visibly is happening to the layer. But when i move around the order of the "FX_Reflect" effects i can kinda get it to do a gradient on the image like the above commenter
question:
is there anyway to get the reflection to work on keyed footage? i'm having trouble getting keylight and the reflection preset to work together
cheers again
sid, out.
Putting the first one at the end resolve the problem
and the reflexion is ok !!!
So remember
The correct order
FX_Reflect 2
FX_Reflect 3
FX_Reflect
Thanks master andrew !
By the way if you come to paris just send me a mail
i'd love to show the city and pay a restaurant to
the man who made my last 2 month of Work !!

thanks for the info. I'm having the problem as well. Working on Intel-MAC with AECS3 Professional.
However, I couldn't add an effect to the solid layer for the photo which is being reflected will not appear as a reflection. Just looks like an upside-down solid copy; with or without an effect to the layer. I did however manage to get it to work fine without manipulating the layer order in AE7 Pro. But this version constantly quits on me since it's not compatible with the Intel-MACs.
Andrew is aware of this and is working on it.
Bye
Gianni (from Italy)
the order of the fx are correct.
the only issue i see, is in the FX_Reflect02 the "Transition Completion" if you drop it to zero, the whole reflection is visible, if you raise the "Transition Completion" from Zero to one, and on up, it will apply the fade to the reflection, but from zero to one, it jumps far to quickly. you can't get good control on the amount of fade.
But wonderful preset. hope my info was helpful.

No more bugs.
Great job Andrew!

Hi Ed, You need to install CycoreFX HD (v1.5 etc). I had the same problem. I installed CycoreFx (which ironically i dont use) and that fixed the problem.
P.S. - Im jealous. Im still using AE 7 Pro. Maybe someday i'll be able to afford CS3. :)
Love that
one problem I had was just solved... I just changed the programms language to english... the german really bugged me.. some things were not working, I couln't find effects etc...
Now... I need help with the awesome Reflections Preset...
If i use it on a video or picture it works perfect...
What about text... it just woun't work.. I put it on the text.. precomposed... but.. no reflection!
Please help your buddy from Germany!
Max
I hope all is well with you. I installed the new presets for CS3, but when I apply it to my image it separates the reflection from the original image quite a bit to the point where it's unusable. Is their any reason for this? I am possibly doing something wrong? I would love some input on this issue if at all possible, if not then I can always do it the old fashioned way but I just wanted you to know that their is still a glitch on this preset...well at least for me anyhow. Thank you very much for your time and I hope to hear from you soon, thank you again.
Leon
Cheers, thankyou thankyou thankyou
To fix Max's issue:
You need to make a pre-comp for the text you want to reflect and apply the preset to the nest precomp. MAKE SURE that your precomp for the text is AS BIG as the text - meaning do not leave any "empty" space below because the reflection will use the entire comp.
For mine I just typed what I needed then scaled the comp to that size - worked perfectly.
Andrew - Any chance you could give a quick tutorial on how to make the reflection bend on axis?
toutrials .
very thanks
Anyone has a solid solution yet?
thx for awsome tuts btw
your well wisher and encourager,
kamran.

1. change the order to
FX_Reflect 2
FX_Reflect 3
FX_Reflect
2. then apply linear wipe
in linear wipe control, make the transition completion to 0.1~0.3 and apply feather.
I got a fine result out of this.
THX 2 Mr.Kramer and hope someone having same problem get over it.
Cheers.
thnx for help to train to newcomers on this software without earning money, today everybody wants money for everything. cool that education is the purpose here (Y) keep doing it
This favorite contains 2 references to missing effects. PLease install the following effects to restore there references. (CC RepeTile, CC Composite)
What can i do? I am new to it.

your site is excellent and i learn all day a little bit more.
I have a question, do you make more Basic Tutorials for Beginner in Future???
My Problem is, i have AE CS in German and my english is also not perfect.
Have a nice day Andrew
experiencing the same problem:
A green/blueish cross in the centre of the reflection and the image itself. Anyone any thoughts?
(By the way, thanks for the tutorial Andrew)
Maximus
This is the best tut place ever!
Thanks

Thanks a lot for such a great web site. The tutorials are helpful.
I am very new to Adobe AE. I covered basic tutorials and start with presets. I was trying Quick 3D Reflections , but could not apply the reflection effects - I was getting the message that I have to upgrade my AE 7 pro.....
Can you please advise... I also wanted to buy "Evolution" and "Sound FX", but now I am concern that I would not be able to use it with my current version...
Sincerely,
Kate
But i've got a problem, when I use cc-composite there appears A green/blueish cross in the centre of the images. Any suggestions?
Did anyone however find a way to resolve the "GREEN CROSS" issue? I'm getting it on simple JPG's...
Please help.
I am a Big fan of U Mr karmer
would it be because i'm on a Mac?
Sorry for my english.
This site has helped so much in advancing me to that next level. I have had after effects for about 2 weeks now and, because of what you do for us I'm at a much higher level than a friend of mine who has had Cs3 for near 6 months now. I told him bout this site and will refer it to anyone who wants real tutorials.
Thanx again.
Klassic Reel Entertainment.
thanks for that Andrew Kramer
I've got a lot of respekt for your works and presents
THANK you !
(By the way i'm trying to put it on a 3dlayered picture)

Can you please help me? thanks!!
I hit okay after it shows that error and it just lowers some of my images footage opacity to 50 percent it's weird.
I hope you can get a soultion up and running my man. :)
Your really good, thanks so much for everything you have done.
The message you are getting (CC RepeTile and CC Composit) is an indication that you are missing the Cycore FX plugin.
This plugin "Cycore FX" comes bundled with Adobe After Effects CS3 full version only... and not the demo version.
You can Google Cycore FX and download the trial version of this plugin. Be aware that the trial version will render a green "X".
Hope this helps!
(I have the crappy trial) but I download the trial for the cycore FX.
It's EXACLY what i was searching for !
i'am search the effects PLZ
Desde Mexico... SALUDOS!!
Me encantan tus trabajos, eh aprendido mucho de ti y tus maravillosos tutoriales! se te agradece que des algunos tutos libres!
Good Luck my friend!
take care!!
First off Andrew, thanks for creating an amazing community here.
I have a question about the easy reflect preset. I found that the preset works great for original footage but I got tripped up on pre-composing.
I was applying the easy reflect to a bunch of stills that were all over the place in quality and size, and did not have time to bring them into photoshop. My approach was to use a white solid as a matte in After Effects, so I could have the freedom of adjusting the picture and have them all look the same in a 3d move....but with all the precomposing, it meant I had to make my reflections the old fashion way.
So my question is if there is a way to make a preset like this that will work with precomps as well?
Thanks
