Tron effect?

Postby patrickmez on 10/11/2012, 7:04 am

Really love the way they created the ground in Tron Legacy. Does anybody know any good ways to make a glossy floor like this in photoshop? I would greatly appreciate it. One of my favorite films and want to give it a shot. Here are a few examples...

Thanks!

Hi Patrick,
I've been working through this poster (the first image). It's a cool look for sure.
This is a pretty simple background using gradients, difference clouds, lens flares and masking. CS5 does have a glass filter as well. If you look closely, the glows and gradients along with the reflection is what sells the shot to make the floor look like glass or glossy.

Definitely appreciate your response back. When you say you're working through it, does that mean that you're making your own? or just breaking it down? If you're making one, I'd love to see it.

Hi Patrick,
I'm actually playing around with this at work when I'm not doing...err work. The mountains in the BG are also difference clouds with some masking. I was going to make some stratus clouds but I don't have a lot of time to play. I see I have some banding going on but to get more of a glass look, you can add an adjustment layer with levels and tweak the settings and it will give you more of a glossy look. Also, I just used the marquee tool to make my lines and elipticals. I hope that helps.
Good Luck,
Steve
