No anti alias from Illustrator to Photoshop

Postby arinya on 05/15/2012, 12:18 pm

So something weird started happening. When I paste vector objects from Illustrator into Photoshop they show up all jagged. Photoshop is not anti aliasing my vector objects. I can draw vector objects in Photoshop and they look fine but if I copy something I drew in Illustrator into Photoshop the objects are all jagged. I tried looking for a anti-alias switch I might of turned off but no luck. Anyone have this happen to them?

Illustrator CS5 & Photoshop CS5 Extended.

Thanks!

Hi arinya,
Copying and pasting between the two programs can cause problems. I usually save my work in Illustrator and then open it up in Photoshop.
You probably already know but Illustrator is Vector and Photoshop is pixels.
You can try pasting as a smart object as this will retain your vector art.
Let me know if that helps,
Steve

Nope. It was something else.

 When you paste into Photoshop the Option menu gives you an check box for anti-alias. Some how mine got turned off. You only get this option when you are pasting in Photoshop. You can't access it any other way. FYI, pasting as a smart object with anti-alias turned off still gives you jagged edges. I wish I could get the 2 hours of my life back trying to figure that one out.
