Hi everybody...

I am new to the site. I have a question regarding importing a comp from Illustrator to After FX. My guess is that the problem is on the Illustrator side.
I have an .ai file that I would like to import to AE in layers. I have "released to layers" all the comp ones, but when importing to AE the comp( retaining layers shapes), I keep getting a single .ai layer....

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks a lot for your advices

Can you show us some screenshots of your import process? (And screenshot of your Illustrator layer panel too).

As Michael suggested, a screen shot would be helpful.
1) Did you import as a Composition and not footage?
2) Release to layers, in my experience, does not always work and I have a feeling this is the problem.
I know it can be a pain but I prefer to create my own layers and drag each image into the new layer, out of the group, in Illustrator to ensure that the objects are not still grouped.

I've never had a problem with release layers and I have used it hundreds of times, but there may well be bugs.

Once you've released the layers, you have to select the children and drag them above the top layer, so there is no longer a hierarchy.
