Adobe After Effects CS6 Visual Effects and Compositing Studio Techniques - Mark Christiansen

I've read a few of this guys books, I currently own the CS5.5 version, this is an updated one though. It's amazingly detailed and professional with some good video assets on DVD as well. He goes through some really high end stuff. It's probably the best one out there if you want to know how to do things like the 'pros' do it. Andrew Kramer has name checked this guy in a few of his tutorials so that's about as good a seal of approval as you get :-)

If you are open to other learning opportunities besides books I would recommend http://www.fxphd.com/

This is immensely helpful as compositing is all about managing color.

Other than that, I'd go with Kyle and recommend the courses from FXPHD, CMIVFX a.s.o...
