Can I link keyframes to markers?

Postby Laserschwert on 03/13/2013, 1:28 am

I don't know if this is possible with expressions at all, but here goes:

Image

I'd like to link a group of time remap keys to markers on that same layer. So the red keys should move when I move the red marker, the green keys with the green marker, yellow with yellow, etc. In this case those are time remap keys on a precomp, and the key pairs define time ranges of that precomp (the red keys cover frame 0-100 for the object entering the frame, the green keys cover frames 100-50 for the object spinning around, etc). Since I need several copies of the precomp in my clip, and pauses between the time ranges differ, having them move with markers would make it very easy to change.

Can this be done with expressions?

Expressions cannot modify persistent property stream data. what you have in mind is not possible.

You can do this without keyframes with the linear or ease function. Just apply this script to the scale and create two markers ("StartMarker" and "EndMarker" in the timeline). It will start to scale from 90% to 106% (duration 0.5 sec) and scale it back half a second before the end marker. With some modifications you can make this work for your stuff, I guess :)

Code: Select all
Start=thisComp.marker.key("StartMarker").time;
End=thisComp.marker.key("EndMarker").time;
if (time<End-.5) {
[ease(time, Start, Start+.5, 90, 106),ease(time, Start, Start+.5, 90, 106)];}
else {
[ease(time, End-.5, End, 106, 90),ease(time, End-.5,EndG, 106, 90)];}
too many clowns - not enough circuses

Photoshop I would guess, or even AFX.

Yeah, that was just some Photoshop work to make things clearer.

sigh... that would have been such an amazing organization tool if you could colour markers

could even possibly like those markers to frames (or visa versa) using the colour as a reference.
Oh well... wishful thinking
