The first one is just like what you posted, down further in the thread there is one that is in a circular path.

Hello, I´ve Downloaded and Fixed this Project to work, I have installed CS4 here, so the project is in that Version, I have CS3 in my others computer, maybe I could open it again an fix it in cs3 tomorrow when I go to where i have them if you need it.

The problem was some bad translated properties in some of the expressions, and a few syntaxis errors. I`ve also translated layers, comp names and the controllers for easy understanding.

The use of this is very straight foward, the basic use is to import a JPG sequence of the covers, interpret it with 1FPS and put it into the composition named "Insert Covers Sequence Here", and then duplicate the covers layer until you get all the covers you need.

Then to animate, use the position slider in the controller, it came with an animation to show the next cover every 1 sec, but it can be easily changed.

The Video tutorial is very usefull too even if you dont understand french like me, so please look at it and comment it so he has credit for his good work. I will try to send the fixed version to him so he can reupload it.

I hope this fix your problem.

I`ve Deleted the CS4 version since the CS3 one is usefull to both versions and if we make some adjustment is easy to have only one. simply look foward this posts to find my next download

Thanks, in the actual script to make change the duration you must move the keyframes of the position in the controller layer, there are a few keyframes only, but i will try to add some configuration in the controller to make it easier too.

yes, you can change it for anything you want, pictures, video, and even full comps with both of them.

Hey guys, I`ve translated it to CS3, I haven´t added the duration between covers control, i havent tried how to do it, the way to do it by expresions must be by enlarging the keyframes in the Position Slider of the Controller to fit the desired amount of time, but i Haven´t found the way to do it, I know that this must be easy, but my expressions knowledge is limited, so i must search it a little.

So, to no have you waiting for the cs3 for until I resolve that little thing i decided to uploadit as is. So there you have.

Remember to see the original french tutorial and comment there if you liked, so this guy get credit for her work, he have some others amazing Tuts to see.

Thanks saveyourskin for the CS3 translate, I´ve been trying in the SPANISH version of CS3, and it works too.
The only thing I got to do is change the words Slider by the word Deslizador. Done.
cheers.

Hi, thanks for the info, however I`think that even if your natural language is Spanish like me (i´m in Argentina), it´s easier to use After Effects, and in fact any software of this kind, in English, since there is a very little amount of words to learn even if you don´t know English very well, so you can learnit and continue working in english. And there is a lot of problems with the translated versions of this softwares:

  • Sometimes, the plugins/addons/presets/expressions/scripts, are language especific.
  • Most of the tutorials/information you found in internet are in english, and so, you must think "how *** did the guys in adobe translate this menu/item/function
  • Many times, the updates/upgrades are avaliable in english First than other languages(even gmail in english has much more services than the spanish version)
  • It´s usefull to learn english, and this is usefull to comunicate to the world
  • And, something really nice when using scriptin/expressions or this kind of thinks, is that you can have really descriptives names in the variables, object, etc, without having to worry about reserved words, in example, you can name a variable "tiempo", and this have no problem with the "time" variable registered by defatult, So you can make your code a bit more eficient some times when you can use this kind of names instead of thinking new ones that not are so especific to the real meaning.

first off, thanks for all the help offered by the boardmembers. however, i just tried the translated projectfile and ran into a problem, everything seems to work fine, i just can't see the pictures in the final composition. i imported the jpeg sequence, and placed it into the "insert cover sequence here"comp. i can see them in this comp, and in the covers comp with the reflections, but not in the final coverflow comp.

i took a screenshot, hope you understand my problem.

maybe i'm missing something here, but i can't figure out the problem.

any help would be appriciated.

thanks in advance and for your effort

HI,

I seem to be having the same problem and I suspect it has to do with a switch to toggle between showing just the bounding box and displaying the actual images (to speed up render time) but for the life of me I have hit a blank on where to find the option to do this.

I know I will probably never live this down but could some one please let us new bees know where to access this option?

Regards

Seems as though this thread is quite old, however, I stumbled upon it while searching for a custom CoverFlow effect and encountered the exact same wireframe issue as some reported above.

I managed to solve this by editing the "Fast Preview" settings for the composition which did the trick!

Here's a screen shot of what needs to be changed:

Image

The initial project is set to "Wireframe", which disabled viewing the actual covers. I've included the updated project file, which has the Fast Preview issue fixed and has been upgraded to CS4. All credit goes to the original author.

Hope this helps someone out in the future!
