Trapcode Particular and Element [Tracking]

Postby kirkeric on 11/7/2017, 4:33 pm

Hello,

I hope someone can help me out here. I have an E3D object, a bottle cap, animated through a scene. I want to use trapcode particular to create a trail of smoke/fog/haze that travels the same path as the animated object. Anyone have a procedure for this?

And as a secondary question, I'm also open to other methods but I'd like the bottle cap to have a trail of light follow it.

I am using CC2018 and the new Element.

Thanks ahead.

Just create an object null via element for the model
Add a light
Attach the light to the null's position
Add particular
Set to track light
Done

I take check and credit card ;)

Well, I was kind of on track. I had used a light emitter for particular, added a null, parented to null and then had limited luck after. So, close but a tad backwards.

Appreciate the help. I'll give this a shot.

element 3d has a great feature to generate 3d nulls by choosing a 2d position on screen.
this video is similar to what you want to achieve http://www.videocopilot.net/flightschool/jet_contrails/
Fog or smoke could be done with the help of particular.

hope this helps!
