Scaling down all comp's contents

Postby scottkane on 09/5/2017, 10:20 pm

Hi guys,

I hope I can get an answer from you here since you are the best in AE.

I have a 4K size composition and I want to make a lighter 1080p sized one.

I want all solids with fx on it scale down to, so I have an easier to render file.

And I was wondering if there is an easy way to scale it down?

I don't know how to do this myself... I would go like one by one in solid settings and change it?

Hope you guys can help me out and tell me an easier way.

Thanks very much!!!

Hey Ender, thank you man, but that isn't scaling down all Solids's sizes etc
Only the whole composition size.

Isn't there an option like to scale all solids and compositions inside the big 4K composition, so the rendering also decreases?
Anyone?
Thanks guys

In the render settings you can click Resolution - Half and it should take less time to render. I'm not sure tho, I haven't tested it.

FILE-SCRIPT -SCALE COMPOSTION WORKS If you are inside the comp when using it

Stayhigh, that's nice trick, but I really want to decrease all solid's and layers inside the comp so the editing is faster in the 1080p comp

Ender, thank you , but that does make it half size (1080p from 4K) but the solid settings remain at 4K, and that increases the cpu power and all.

It will really be very hard for me to do it manually, I tried, maybe I could do it but it won't be the same result as in 4K and thats what troubles me.

I think you get what I mean now? Hope there is a way!
Thank you guys

I know that I used a short cut for this before, but a simple way to do it is to attach all your parent layers to a null object and scale down the scene to your liking.

Best of luck!

Yes but some solid have fx like fractal noise and polar coordinates etc so the processing is still a bit big
The solid settings remain 4K still if I do that
Thing is the render time is not decreased with either of these ways
I have the same time waiting to see a frame in full resolution in the 1080p scaled one and the 4K one
The only thing that works is to make half resolution at export settings

Lower the preview resolution from full to something that is less than full? You can go to the "custom" section and even lower it more if you need. That should work
