How to make this sort of stuff in After Effects

Postby adgod42 on 07/6/2017, 5:35 am

Hi guys,
I am sponging some brainpower on how to create this sort of animated repeated shapes in perspective or camera depth, please see this youtube link for details: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WBrl6ILPvww.

The way the repeat of shapes, like the squares, scale and move in perspective. I am not a 3D person, any thoughts would be great, thank you.

Make your animation in one Comp of one layer of shapes. Then, bring that Comp into another Comp and turn it into a 3D Layer.

You can then do one, of two things. Easiest would be to duplicate the layer a few times, and manually offset their Z position by a few hundred pixels each or something like that.

The other option would be to have their spacing determined by an expression and a slider, something like what is shown in this tutorial:

He gets into the expression part around 6:00 or so.
