Simulating anamorphic.

Postby Green_Screener on 09/14/2017, 1:51 am

Hi, all.

I've just found a download from here http://www.4kshooters.net/2015/02/18/replicating-the-anamorphic-look-in-after-effects/ which says it will produce an "anamorphic" look to footage, using plugins already in AE. He calls it the "Vashimorphic 40 Filter", from his name.

Before I download it, I want to ask members if (a) they've ever used this particular site, and (b) if they've created their own anamorphic effect using AE plugins. He claims to use the Bezier Warp, the CI Vignette and the Blurred Corners effects. As I'm always a bit antsy about downloading anything that seems too good to be true, I thought I'd go the more reliable route and members here.

Any advice, hints, or tips, guys?

Thanks.

No, I have used it a lot. It works great, not so much in normal shots as you can't tell the difference, but definitely in shots that have shapes you can tell are being distorted (like symmetrical columns on a building). Obviously, you can replicate anamorphic lens flares, but nothing can replicate the oval bokeh as of yet. :D
