Floor bug

I remember there being an After Effects bug (or "feature") that cause a 3D "floor" or similar, to not render correctly when intersecting 3D objects were present. I also remember Andrew showing how to get around the problem in one of the tutorials, but I can't remember which one.

Can anyone help?
