Afterburner Glow Effect

Postby msjphotography on 02/24/2017, 6:13 pm

Does anyone know how Andrew achieved the glow effect associated with the afterburner on the jet in the attached scene? Just to be clear, I'm not looking for information about heat distortion...just the base glow (which I'm guessing was not created using the Glow effect). Thanks so much for your help!

Funny enough I'm sure Andrew has included this in one of the tutorials, how he basically used keing to isolate specific colors for a glow effect, but I just can't remember which one... :P

Thanks, Farmfield. I watched that tutorial (https://vimeo.com/77947711), but it doesn't seem to give me the result I'm after. I'll keep after it...maybe even try using Saber.

Lol, I just realized "glow" was the only thing I didn't search for - I was sure it was part of another tutorial, but yeah, that's the one I thought of...

And glows are all about layering glows on top of each other, there's no one click solution for a good glow...
