Has anyone used Mari on a GTX card

Postby TomPietrowski on 02/25/2012, 10:38 am

The tittle pretty much sums it up. Im building a new workstaion for animation this summer, and Im looking for reviews of how well (if at all) mari runs on a GTX card rather then a quadro. The only experience I have had with mari was on a quadro machine, but im not wanting to spend that money, on a card which most of the time, when Im working in maya is going to be doing very little.

If any one has any experience Id be interested in your reviews.

Thanks

shouldn't be a problem to support Mari with Geforce boards depending on which GPU gen you are.
FERMI GPUs are a requirement meaning GTX480/580 QUADRO 2000/4000/5000.
but QUADRO are really expensive and I think that such investment has to support be by a company that needs the benefit of professional boards.

it should work also with GTX560Ti

Thought I would update this in case it would help anyone.

Well mari pretty much works fine on Geforce Cards (2gb 560 in my case) however you can not see displacements in the viewport. This is a slight issue however all the paint and bump tools work perfectly.

So overall next time I will upgrade to a quadro, but the geforce can get by.
