wel unless u have a very decent computer, I'd stay away from HD for now...

now tell us, what have you got 600 of? dollars, pounds, euros, lire? it makes a world of difference.

I've suggested it before and I'll keep suggesting it. The Canon HV30 I'm sure that they make a PAL version of the camera. Shoots HDV and standard DV so you can make the transition if your computer isn't ready yet.

I've got one for playing around with and love it.

That's why asked how much you've got... HV20 or HV30 (even better) is your solution.. and for that money you can buy it easy...

I don't know the price in UK but in belgium they go for about 700euros each... so with your budget, if the UK version is too expensive, you have enough cash to hop on a boat, go to Oostende for a little trip, buy a camera, eat a waffle and get your self an AC/DC converter for UK plugs (an ac/dc album is good too)

your comp is good enough to run HD, so definitely hit one of the those two cameras, they even use them in big Hollywood productions.

Let us know when you get it. It's a fun little camera.
There is a really nice forum dedicated to these two little cameras over at http://www.hv20.com/ People are modding these and having a good time with them. A wealth of information can be found over there.

Hope you grab one up, pretty nice for a little hand-held camera.

I'm not familiar with the Vixia series but here's a look of the first generation
