Streaming with a JVC GY HM 200

Postby homnislash on 07/18/2016, 12:29 pm

Hi,

I'd like to stream directly on dailymotion what I film with a JVC GY HM 200.
This would be to work in studio, using greenscreen and appropriate lighting setup.

Do you know guys if I need some specific equipment to do that ?

Using a HDMI capture card like Blackmagic Design Intensity with OBS would probably work. :)

Sorry for that :)

I have an other question,

do you think it's possible to do the keying of the green screen, and stream everything with a nice background in compositing ?

Well, Newtek's Tricaster can do that, but the price, eh, the price...

If anyone has a better/cheaper idea, my ears are open

Open Broadcaster does that as well, this I have no clue how competently. Try it and report back. :D

Ah! I forgot about this one, thx Farmfield. Back in the days it was quite unstable - for an aspiring live production anyway.

It works awesomely for screen recording, I have no experience of either broadcasting or keying with it. But it sure beats the price of a trickster... ;D

Edit: Tricaster - f**ng autocorrect. :D

Yeah thanks, it's true that it will not be possible to buy the tricaster... I'll test OBS if I have an opportunity to stream with a HDMI capture card.

By the way, I know that it's a little off-topic, but I feel I've to ask some advice about filming. With this camera, I did film outside, with pretty strong sunlighting everywhere, and I'm really upset with the images I get. I have an actor exposed correctly, but everything in the background is overexposed, pure white, it's horrible.

I couldn't fix that while filming so I feel bad about that, knowing that I didn't have a solution, but had to keep going with it.

My settings were close to this :
time : 1/50
F11

I also did try some shots in full auto, but it didn't bring better results. It's like too much light is a big problem... Maybe the answer is about using some filters on the lens ?

I feel like I have a lot of things to learn with this type of situation here.

Yeah, expose for the sky and light your actor with a gazillion watts - that's how it's done, not even kidding. You can't film in conditions like that with any camera. 13 stops of dynamic range in a RED or alike will help a lot though, but once again we're talking about pricey stuff. :P

woaw it's hard for recording in kind of speed/low cost conditions then...:)

It was a great experience though !

You gotta work around it, film when it's lower light, cloudy, and do a sky replacement, that kinda workarounds.

Sidenote for streaming with chroma key: NUNS.
Especially in black clothes.
Light them well and nuns give you zero spill at the edges.

(yeah, I know, I need more coffee. Or no more coffee)

I've noticed that on this camera there is a nd filter. Does anyone know if you can get good results with them, in this type of conditions ?

Hi,

I'm about to buy for this camera 8 cards : SDXC UHS-i U3 (128 GO) Panasonic or Toshiba or SanDisk...

To shoot in 4k, do you think it's the best setup with this camera ?

Hi everybody,

I wanted to go 25 or 24p with my camera but it appears there's only 50p or 50i ? What does it mean ?

I'm in AVCHD. Do I have to select "Mov" ?

Thanks for your tips !
