After Effects CS6 Bugs - shy guides & rendering crashes

Postby harold1261 on 01/7/2013, 1:43 am

• - Shy switch is not functioning as it should.
when i click the shy switch, (with various layers shy'd) the switch goes On & Off..
with certain projects, the shy switch is constantly ON, i.e. when i click it to reveal my shy'd layers, they immediately switch back on again.

• - When AE is rendering, I cannot click outside of After effects.
(i.e. click on a finder window/photoshop/browser) when doing so, the render instantly "completes" (Ring sound) yet the render is incomplete.

• - AE render output wont allow me to overwrite files.
It allows me to select Yes to 'replace' the file, but when commencing the render,
"Rendering error while writing to file "xxx" Unable to delete existing file (-1610153460)

My 1st 2 bullet points are the most urgent & counter-productive. The last, not so much.
Any Help? or anyone having the same issues?

AE CS 6 V11.0.2.11
Mac OSX Lion v10.7.4
ATI Radeon HD 5770 1Gb
2x2.4 Ghz Quad Core Intel Xeon
6Gb 1066 MHz DDR3

I'd uninstall and re-install AE if that was happening to me. Then if it still didn't work I'd be on to Adobe support.

Good luck!

Mylenium on Adobe Community Forum found the solution.

The shy switch issue would occur when you have installed a certain plug-in that mimics "layer folders"... Get rid of it, should you use it. That may as well settle your otehr problem, because the plug-in may attempt to toggle layers during rendering. Otehrwise simply check your multiprocessing settings and so on. you could simply be putting too much strain on your system and it bombs out. Likewise, that may affect your third issues - damaged files remain "open" after crashes... Everything in your post can be explained ojne way or another, you just need to check this stuff...
