Interesting how nobody ever wins these "contests".

Not sure this really counts since only the foreground is 3-d... the background is a matte painting I did, though. It looks cool even if it doesn't qualify ;)

Sorry, it's way cut off, the full image is here: http://figmaster.cgsociety.org/gallery/

All done in Cinema 4D. Buildings were painted and textured in Bodypaint. Composited in AE.

That looks really great! Very nice work, would be nice to see a little breakdown since everything is so foggy (of course, that is what makes the piece finished). But yeah, that looks really great... Do you have any larger renders or is that maybe your output resolution for the project?

Thanks Pigeon!

Yes, it is my output resolution. The movie was shot on a Panasonic digital camera that happens to record movies :) (crazy, I know). At least this resolution grants me that maybe someday I will finish the movie. Some animation renders still take few hours to finish. I also did some matte paintings at a higher resolution, but it was mostly a photoshop work (and I'm not that happy with the results :) ).

Highest resolution I work with on this project is this:

This one I modeled and textured in C4D then did some more painting work in PS and finishing in AE.

PS. I love the VUE works in this thread.

I made two scenes with Vue 8. This wasn't actually for anything it was just to test out Vue and see how it worked. These are my first 2 scenes I ever made with Vue so they might not be that good.

Cool pictures everyone!
Here is mine, just a bunch of photos of plants on planes to look like grass. Same 3D tree and more single plane trees for fillers. Enjoy! :D

This is my first try to create an island, and experimented with the text in Vue. Took 25 hours to render!

Hi. Do you know where to buy ready made 3d exteriors (streets, buildings and so on) that can be used for the video? Thanks.

Since a few people already posted some "extreme" exteriors I would like to share my work. This is a personal project I was working on a few weeks ago in Max to learn more about materials. I am still a beginner with little experience but someone might enjoy this render. Its worth noting that a good composition was not one of my objectives.

Cool thread.
Just saw this and I already have a 3d environment and also a test film.
Took 1hr:30min for the whole render(not considering the Ae rendering to video) of 100frames.
during which I was like >-|| ||-< :-}= :=~ and all that good stuff......LOL

would like some criticism if possible.. :)

I wonder what your reason is for using more then 1 light-source?
And all in one line?

I guess your using MAX-scanline?
Try using a Free Direct or Target Direct for the main light-source
And place some omnis around the scene to light up the dark parts.

- Maybe add some wake of waves?

Love the end-bumper! Great explosions!

Concerning logo: maybe try to integrate it more with the explosions?
And maybe re-design it to make it more robust, heavier?
