How would I go about having a person sort of 'unzip' to reveal something inside of them inside of 3DS Max? Keep in mind I'm not the greatest 3D animator. :=~

Knowledge feeds the imagination bro...and what a great question!

Several vectors come to mind.

Morph targets would be one way to go (my preference in this case)

You'll need to model the body in it's zipped form. Duplicate the mesh (possibly several times) and change those models to a progression of "unzipped-ness". Check the max help file for more info on Morph targets.

it could be possible to do it as a cloth object too, if you duplicate your bound skin you could then start it in the same place, then animate a seam open, and have the cloth fall off your rig, reavealing the inside. You could set the base skin to unrenderable so its just there to keep the shape of the cloth skin, and it will not show as the cloth skin falls off. You could once you have this set, create blendshapes or morphshapes from around 10 stages of the skin coming off, then add an attribute to the rig, to control the blendshape transition.
