Is it safe to keep QuickTime for windows???

Postby Ken1858 on 05/6/2016, 3:02 pm

Is it safe to keep the QuickTime for windows but just not be connected to the internet when using my Adobe software? I've the Adobe CS 5.5 version. Is it safe at all to be on the internet with the software installed but not in use. Shoot I don't want to be up the creek with this.

This thing has been so massively blown out of proportion, it's just ridiculous.

The security flaw in Quicktime is in the player when streaming online content, but even with a fresh install the QT browser extension is disabled by default nowadays, so as long as you don't use the QuickTime player for streaming content off the web, there isn't a problem.

And seriously, who ever used Quicktime player for playing streams off the Internet? I have tried it in VLC, way back, years ago, but is there even sites that offer separate streams nowadays? I haven't seen that for years...

QuickTime is still safe for NATO media coverage, it appears. ATM they are uploading uncompressed/H.264 .mov files. If that's not safe, then, well, we're all screwed anyway.
