water fight shot with 7D

Postby ning on 11/6/2009, 3:17 am

This is a video directed by two of my buddies Chris and Tim. we shot it in hackney marshes just on the turn of Autumn. personally i think it's a stoater. all shot on a cannon 7D. amazing editing, wonderfull grading.

for full disclosure i'm the chap with the cigar and shades.

I wasn't behind the camera on this one but have co-directed with Tim on a few projects.

Cheers.

That. Was. Awesome! I loved the cinematography and editing! Wow! Did you shoot at 60 and 24fps or just 60? I noticed some of the water shots were in that. That was an incredible short. I'm getting a 7D soon and can't wait to get some shorts under my belt (I edit commercials for my regular job, so shorts are a night and weekend project, but I don't have my HD setup yet). I loved it and it was really well done! Can't wait to see more!

the 7D impresses me all the time. ive heard it not as good quality as the 5D due to a cropped chip. also has the 7D got the same jello effect on some the handheld footage. i was asked to steady some of it once but it was terrible. it seems common with high contrast handheld footage. i loved the music but not convinced on the grade. i feel the grade lowered the quality too much.

Outstanding job my friend! The camera work and usage of depth of field was excellent! At first the I had no idea the video was going to be about a watergun fight, but I like that the information was slowly fed to viewer.

I love it when one of the members get hit, and gurgles water while his teammate over him screams in anger simulating the concept of death and blood after being really shot.

Keep it up! :0)

Excellent production- really enjoyable. The short was perfectly cut to the music, which really gave it another dimension. Lovely.

The Canon 7D seems to be a fantastic choice of camera, I will hopefully be aquiring one myself, very soon. Funny how a DSLR can do video better than a dedicated camcorder in the same pricerange!

Great job. Gorgeous video, great grading, and I loved the cuts. I just wish the folks over in the "Production Gear" threads got how nice this camera really is.

Excellent work. I also own a 7D but haven't done much video with it yet. Slow motion makes it look amazing. Can I ask what Lenses you guys used?
