In Depth Element Overview

I just updated our Element Help page to include 2 new tutorials to talk about some of the less flashy features of Element 3D. These should really help you get going with the plug-in and hopefully show you some tricks you may not know about. I probably should have had this done when we released the product but here they are now! More tutorials in the works soon.

Beyond the Basics:
Everything you need to know to get started!

  • Customizing UI
  • Adding textures
  • Basic texture mapping options
  • Using animated custom texture maps

I am getting a new Windows laptop soon now I know what to look for so I could run Element 3D!
    July 18th, 2012 @ 6:40 pm
why a laptop get a desktop they are cheaper and faster
unless you want a workstation but those are very expensive
July 17th, 2012 @ 10:37 am
very Cool thank you very much man
July 17th, 2012 @ 10:38 am
I'm loving the plugin Andrew, but with this great plugin comes a huge amount of questions. For example, I have a high detailed model and I want to animate more than 5 parts of the model, then is there a way to add groups to Element 3D(TM)?
The second question I have is that will there be a machines pack where are some models of cars, planes, jets, helicopters etc.?

    July 17th, 2012 @ 10:40 am
    Replying to the first question.
Since you can only use 5 groups, but is there a way to add groups?

Andrew and Crew,

First, thanks the hard work.

Second, are there any licensing issues with the models or shaders for the use of Element 3D in generating animations for the stock video clip market?

Thanks, Bob
    July 17th, 2012 @ 11:06 am
Bob - Here is the licensing agreement for for Element 3D Plugin and Related Materials (models, shaders etc...)

I'm sure you'll find what your looking for in there.

Graham, are you connected with Video Copilot?
    July 18th, 2012 @ 10:27 am
I am not, but VC has that posted everywhere you'll find products of Element 3D

Nice information, helpful to know and im excited to hear about the future packs too! Can't wait to get enough saved for Element. It's really cool to have all this great information about Element and even VC's other products so that we can really get to understand them, in order to work with them correctly and create amazing results, not just amazing, but ground-breaking, revolutionary, I don't know just plain good! and much BEYOND...
July 17th, 2012 @ 11:31 am
If it only it was working on my machine :-(

Bug fix please!!
    July 18th, 2012 @ 2:17 pm
Make sure that you have updated to the latest drivers for your GPU. This fixed my crash issue and I hear it's been a good fix for a ton of other users.
July 17th, 2012 @ 11:56 am
your new videos are taking much more time to load
why is that?
July 17th, 2012 @ 12:00 pm
Great work, but i gotta tell you Andrew: you are getting a little sloppy in the edits in the tutorials. I have heared you say the same thing in about 5 different ways in a couple of seconds hehe.
Drink more coffee ;)
    July 17th, 2012 @ 12:46 pm
    Ya... I know. :)
    July 18th, 2012 @ 10:40 am
I will gladly take a couple things said twice in the interest of getting more tutorials. :) I heard a couple too, like "Take 2", ha but all good, funny, fantastic tutorials.
July 17th, 2012 @ 12:09 pm
Hey Andrew! Noone ever looked in a manual or helpscreen.) That's my experience as a programmer.

But nice try :) Keep up the good work.

What's nice about watching this tutorial is after having Element for a week (give or take an hr) i knew most of what Andrew touched on. This isn't meant in a big headed way, but more to show if you take the time to go through the plug in, its pretty easy to learn and that's only a huge complement to its makers. Good job gang on making it user friendly:0)
    July 17th, 2012 @ 12:53 pm
That's great to hear! We tried to make it easy to use but a reference is always nice. More tutorials on the way.
    Christian Michael
    July 17th, 2012 @ 1:26 pm
You are all more than welcome. Although it was nice to see how its pos to animate lights inside the plug in. I hadn't worked that out yet lol
July 17th, 2012 @ 12:37 pm
Andrew i can use plugin on my two computers? on this same license?
    Christian Michael
    July 17th, 2012 @ 1:12 pm
I did with no issues other than one system isnt as strong as the other.
    July 17th, 2012 @ 2:12 pm
I'm sorry but I do not understand this sentence,
    Christian Michael
    July 17th, 2012 @ 2:15 pm
in other words yes you can use it on two computers. but if you have one computer better than the other, you will get dif results.

    July 17th, 2012 @ 3:01 pm
Thats of course IF you own both the computers and NOT boot legging the products on the internet. otherwise your system gets infected with the dreaded virus....Windows Vista!
    February 19th, 2013 @ 1:16 pm
this is really interesting question since I bought the license on a different computer.
July 17th, 2012 @ 12:40 pm
Hi Andrew, element works fine when I open it, but as soon as I click on a model, After Effects crashes. I also can't see the environment or the icons for choosing different environment maps.

My computer is iMac 2011

AMD Radeon HD 6770M
Windows 7 64bit

After Effects CS5.5

Is there a link to the help page anywhere on this site, other than in blog posts? I can't even find one on the Element product page.
    July 17th, 2012 @ 12:49 pm
It is currently inside of the Plug-in but we will be adding it other places as well.
July 17th, 2012 @ 12:56 pm
Why when I click OK with some 3D model in composition it shows me only black screen!? (Sorry for bad English)
    July 17th, 2012 @ 1:00 pm
Contact support and we can help troubleshoot. Thanks.
    July 26th, 2012 @ 11:46 am
    yes same here
July 17th, 2012 @ 1:06 pm
Great Andrew! You forced me to open again Blender after the long time. Thnx. :)
July 17th, 2012 @ 1:22 pm
Someone forgot to edit the "Beyond the Basics" tutorial at the end. Several takes of the same thing were left in. No biggie, though. Thanks for all the great stuff!!
    July 17th, 2012 @ 1:51 pm
    Should be fixed!
    July 18th, 2012 @ 10:42 am

I really have been enjoying the tutorials, fantastic product. If there is one thing that I would really love to see is how to integrate Element in to a tracked scene. I left a comment the other day in one of the blogs but I think it got buried. In that post, I mentioned the Foundry tracker but I think the CS6 Camera Tracker integration with Element would be a great tutorial. The example I used is, imagine if you will, you are facing a dude with a gun, he fires, muzzle flash comes out (from action essentials of course), an Element 3D bullet comes toward you, then in to time freeze as camera begins to pan around one side.

I was working on a sample of this when I found I didn't know how to keep the Element Bullet tracking with the CS6 tracking null/camera. I was hoping maybe I could just freeze it and pic whip to camera.

I imagine this is something many would enjoy seeing.

Appreciate it. (Also posted in tutorials section in forum).

Let's go back to putting some finishing touches on a logo treatment.

July 17th, 2012 @ 1:37 pm
Awesome tutorials Andrew. Thank you.
July 17th, 2012 @ 2:23 pm
Very cool! :)

FYI - Your jet model is an F-18, which is flown exclusively by the Navy/Marines, but it has the US Air Force logo on the tail ... That's sure to upset SOMEbody when it shows up on screens all over the place ;)
    July 17th, 2012 @ 2:56 pm

As you could read from this article written in 2009 the air force was actually considering using the F18 for many reasons. Most of which was that the other planes that they use cost too much and are starting to have airframe problems. The F18 was proposed as an alternative a long time ago. As well, the air force could very cheaply purchase F18's and if need be the combined branches of the U.S. Could practice implementing a joint strike fighter program with current fighter plane tech to test out the feasibility before committing to a new joint strike fighter program for all branches.
As well, you forget that AK and VC work for Hollywood and they make what the customer/director wants them to make. So have a little faith that they are doing exactly what their customer wants them to do.
    July 17th, 2012 @ 3:47 pm
Umm, that's nice, but hypothetical and totally irrelevant.
The AF doesn't fly this plane, and won't any time soon, so the texture is incorrect. This is not an artistic license issue - it's like painting "Toyota" on a Corvette or vice versa.

It's an easily fixable but very obvious inaccuracy on an otherwise great model they haven't yet sold (but are planning to), which is why I pointed it out. It actually makes the model/texture LESS useful to customers who might need or care about greater accuracy, whereas fixing it would make no difference to people who wouldn't care anyway. I couldn't use that jet as-is for my job without fixing it first (or else getting laughed at).

Besides, the whole point of taking weeks to create photo-realistic 3D objects in great detail (and they've done an awesome job) is to integrate them seamlessly & make them (within reason) look believable. Why leave in an obvious mistake when you haven't yet released the product?
    July 17th, 2012 @ 6:10 pm
They'll be fully customizable so you can put any decal on them!
    July 17th, 2012 @ 7:22 pm
Cool - well there ya go then :)
July 17th, 2012 @ 3:06 pm
Andrew, I notice in your tutorial that your’re using Element ver. 1.0.323 instead of ver.1.0.322. Is there another update? Thanks
July 17th, 2012 @ 3:41 pm
Hi Andrew,

Awesome plugin, used it a lot in my production so far. Quick question though. First time using the plugin with custom masks where I use the subtract mode to create a hole in my masks. When I extrude the hole is seen as 2D and there is no extrusion on the insides. Please advise on how to get the hole to be extruded similar to how it is in a text letter like the letter o.

Hey guys! I'm a total beginner in 3D, so i've got one possibly stupid question=)
How can i create a multiple texture (i use C4D R13) in one JPG/PNG file, just like Andrew used in this tutorial?
Need your help!! =)
July 17th, 2012 @ 6:16 pm
Hey Andrew did you get the blender export info from me
    July 17th, 2012 @ 7:18 pm
I don't know if Ak mentioned it but I know I did in a post. If this is the Sebastian who made it than thank you very much for your work. There is some conjecture though that you AE exporter for Blender isn't updated to the latest release. Is this correct? It seemed to work for me. They say it is included now in the new Blender release. Either way, would you have any pointers on using Blender with Element 3D?
    July 18th, 2012 @ 10:00 am
No the AE exporter is working great and is updated to the latest release

as for pointers, I cant really say i suppose you should definitely try tacking advantage of all the simulators in blender because its packed full of them

with a little work you could be creating all of those wonderful fluid splashes just like in the model packs that video copilot is selling

accept you would be getting them for free which is always a plus

so I hope that was more or less the kind of pointers you were looking for

    happy blending!
July 17th, 2012 @ 7:15 pm
Oh man, I can't wait to own this, now what can I sell to have it like right away!! My wife found me in the middle of uttering "maaaaan, this plugin is soooo coool!!! I heard her going down the stairs imitating me, in a deep female "Me" voice, "mooon this phlugin is sOOOoo COOOoool!! Then she giggled when I said, I am going to bite you!! hahahahah, Kramer see what you are doing to me and my marriage!! Stop it!!! ok, don't!!!
July 17th, 2012 @ 7:55 pm
I wanna go as deep as the abyss with Element 3D and these in depth overview tutorials are really helpful. Element 3D is a revolutionary plug in and the more examples are put out there, the more people wanna have it to create incredible 3D footage. I'm personally looking forward to add Element 3D models into real life footage incorporating with people. For instance juggling a few of those glass orbs. How ya like them apples?!
July 17th, 2012 @ 7:55 pm
Hi Andrew! Is there a way to FORCE OPACITY, but keep the relfections at 100% without doing another comp ontop? I think having that would be AN AMAZING add-on for anyone doing glass. :)

I would like royalties of a Facebook tweet for the suggestion :P
July 17th, 2012 @ 8:04 pm
Hey Nndrew,
I did what you said on how to check the box in c4d and then export the model , i did that and i noticed better results when the model inside element. but the uvw thing is not are the model inside c4d and then how it looks inside element.its dark not white.

any tips where i went wrong r should i adjust something.
    October 16th, 2012 @ 7:23 am
Hey Clancy30, did you find a solution for that issue? I encountered the same issue, especially when i saved the file as OBJ inside C4D. I tried everything in vain, until I decided to save the file as a .c4d, then import it in element. The problem went away, But I am still curious about what's causing the OBJ files to go dark instead of white.
July 17th, 2012 @ 9:17 pm
I'm really thinking about taking the plunge and buying Elements 3D. I'm really not sure about what object package I want to get with it. Can anyone tell me, are there any objects included with the primary plugin that I I can experiment with?
    July 17th, 2012 @ 9:54 pm
The extra models are great, but you can make and use your own. The real value of the plug-in is not to be able to use VC models. It is to use whatever models that you want or need for a client? If you don't have it all ready get Blender. It is free! It is a full fledged 3D program and you can make very advanced models in it and then port them over to Element 3D. Here is the link

Blender is a major 3D program and many people even give away free 3D models. They aren't that good most of them, but you can make them better if you want. Many free Blender models can be found here.

There are even free tutorial sites for Blender as well, such as here.

The point of Element 3D is to help you use 3D files inside of Adobe After Effects. Where you get the files and textures is up to you. Good 3D models are usually hard to find and very expensive. VC's models look pretty darn great and seem to be offered for a steal. Andrew has an entire music pack of good models for a small fee. But check out the going price on Turbo Squid for a single guitar file, it is 199 dollars!

Andrew offers whole packs of 3D music models for only 100 dollars. Sounds like Turbo Squid has some serious competition. Thank you VC for scaring the pants out of the 3D market and offering better products and lower prices. Talk about living the American Dream! You are so far a good example to follow AK and VC. Thank you for all that you do.
    July 18th, 2012 @ 7:28 am
Thanks Rick I appreciate your response. I'm now working through the tutorials for Blender!
    July 18th, 2012 @ 10:25 am
Anytime Jason. You will not be disappointed. Blender has a lot of ability to even try to do composting within Blender itself, but just like Andrew Kramer said Element 3D does a lot of the same things faster and it looks just as good. Happy Blending and I guess there needs to be a better word for all this Element and Blender now so, let me see...Happy Blelementing? Happy Eleblending? Hmmm. Happy Blendermenting?
July 17th, 2012 @ 10:44 pm
Thanks for these tutorials. One of the reasons I didn't hesitate to get Element 3D was I knew that you'd deliver on tutorials (which I actually prefer over documentation). Now I need to "wrap" my head around UV mapping in Blender so I can export textures.
    July 18th, 2012 @ 10:09 am
Or should you say unwrap your head(:
July 18th, 2012 @ 12:51 am

Elements reminds me of Katana! Great work man. All the best.

July 18th, 2012 @ 2:04 am
Exactly what I was hoping for. Thanks for making these. Don't worry about the "polish". It's important info, and you can always go crazy on other tutorials. In fact errr, I'm sure you will - thanks again, best!
July 18th, 2012 @ 4:26 am
Hi Andrew
what is the basic idea to create the materials and import them to Element 3D?
you know
I created a car in 3ds max and created the basic materials in Photoshop piece to piece.
but I didn`t use unwrap to giving the materials to the car
and now I export the car in .obj file and import it to Element 3D
but I cant set the materials.

Hey Andrew

First off, I love E3D! I want to marry it. Well, okay, maybe not - but at the least it's my dirty little mistress, who I visit when my women modo and maya are too much to handle.

Anywho - I sometimes work out of my clients offices which means I fire up my laptop instead of the stationary PC I usually use. Is there a way to share one E3D licence between two computers? Sorta like the floating license we know from maya and modo, or do I have to purchase two individual licenses?

Cheers, and keep up the awesome work!
    July 18th, 2012 @ 10:15 am
The standard Element 3D license allows you to install the plug in on two computers (one laptop and one desktop) just as the Adobe license allows you to install AE in the same manner. Just look here at the bottom of the page in the specs section
July 18th, 2012 @ 5:55 am
I want to let you know Mr. Kramer, that i love your sense of humor and the awesomely funny jokes you make in your tutorial. My favorite one was that, when you said your doctor told you that you have less time to live so make the most, and you gave away all your belongings only to find out your doctor was making a joke. and at the end of the joke you said most of that wasn't even true. So damn funny would love to see more. and you always do more.

Hey Andrew,

I noticed, when I animate some text with the text animation effect, the animation doesn't get ported to Element. So when the text counts some numbers for example Element will only take the original text. Maybe some ideas for feature updates. :)
Apart from that, Element is all I ever wanted! :D
July 18th, 2012 @ 7:35 am
Are the Element’s Engine is same as the Keyshot’s engine? Because Element is just like Keyshot, Its just inside After Effects…
July 18th, 2012 @ 10:13 am
I love this plugin, my skillset is coming together.

However I am animating a plane from a null and am having trouble centering the plane as the anchor point seems to be somewhere out there, i tried using the anchor point coordinates within element but cant centre...x and z moves plane on weird wide arc and y does not move object.?! any ideas?
    July 18th, 2012 @ 2:00 pm
hey, if any of you wonderful people at vc could shed some light or maybe a tutorial on this that would be super.
is it a bug that the y axis anchor point does nothing or is it me? probably the latter. lol
July 18th, 2012 @ 11:19 am
I bought two licenses for this, one for my work computer and one for my home computer. Each is registered under two different emails. I took a project I was working on from home to my work computer and opened it and I get a request to register the license, so on my work computer I type in the registered email and password that is connected with my work computer's license, it acts like it's all registered, however, my model that was imported is missing, and it is not telling me I have a missing file or anything. So I go into scene setup to re-import the model and I get nothing, just a black viewport with no model. Any ideas?
    July 18th, 2012 @ 12:01 pm
The models have to be on both systems to work. Specifically you can put the models into the model folder or inside the folder with your AE project so that Element can find them. We do not have a collect files option since Element works independently to import textures and models..
    July 18th, 2012 @ 12:06 pm
Hey Andrew, did you happen to see my comment up above under yours reference using Element and the CS6 Camera Tracker? Thanks, Eric
    July 18th, 2012 @ 12:20 pm
I should have specified that in my question. It actually IS in the same folder as the AE project, it is all being saved to an external HDD. So to be specific it's I:\Animations\Robot Hand.... .OBJ model is in that folder as well as the AE project. AE is version CS6. So why it asks for my registration when I open the project on another computer is odd as well as the missing file. Thank you for your prompt response by the way. Does anything above sound out of place that is causing this to happen? Thanks Andrew, it's an exceptional product!
    July 18th, 2012 @ 12:31 pm
The registration is a separate issue from loading your scene, if it keeps asking, it could be a bug, contact us.
Normally just make sure the model is not deep inside of a folder with the AEP, Element can only look so far.
    July 18th, 2012 @ 12:42 pm
Okay, yeah it seems to be a small bug. I will send a detailed message about the issue to you guys. There are a few other things I am seeing you should know about, but still, freaking great plugin!!!
    July 18th, 2012 @ 1:56 pm
Problem solved with the model importing... when the AE project is saved on one computer using the GeForce 560ti, vs the other computer which is a Quadro 4000, it gets a bug... however by simply updating the quadro card driver I was able to fix it. Thanks for the response... (always the simplest thing I tell ya.)
July 18th, 2012 @ 12:18 pm
I really can't wait to see the ultra nerdy advanced render optimization tutorial: reducing banding in reflections, more detail on Multi Sampling, FXAA smoothing, flicker reduction. The plug in is so fun, but it does get weird if you push it.

July 18th, 2012 @ 12:23 pm
Hey, anyone still remembers this day?

Atleast I will never forget it...(esp the funny comments!) :D
    July 18th, 2012 @ 5:05 pm
Yeah, my element release alert app didn't do as well as I hoped. Good thing I have Element 3D now. I can channel my creativity in a good way.
July 18th, 2012 @ 12:29 pm
Did you take a look at my screen shots to see what kind of issue I have.
July 18th, 2012 @ 1:54 pm
Hi Guys.... Could you please do a downloadable version of these as I live out in the country and have a really crappy connection and it buffers every 2 seconds. I would really appreciate it and I think I speak for all those out there where the powers that be refuse to give us real broad band. Thank you, Terry.
July 18th, 2012 @ 4:13 pm
Ok, i have a question: i'm looking at the promo image, with the spheres and the glowing blue sphere. How do we do the glow on the floor? Is that a light that makes the glow or it's how the pieces interact?
July 18th, 2012 @ 4:34 pm
Question: Can we open and use .ai (AI) vector files from Illustrator to?
    July 18th, 2012 @ 4:37 pm
Or .EPS, .SVG, .PDF, thanks in advance for this product that we call The Smoking Gun of all ages.
July 18th, 2012 @ 4:42 pm
Hi guys, I might have missed if there has already been an in-depth review of how to easily change anchor points and use rotattion on isolated parts of imported models. My example here- shows what I mean- issues with changing and getting correct anchor points on wheels. Im also having a couple issues bringing OBJs in from Softimage- they mostly just appear black.

When can we expect to see more 3D products come out for sale? (i.e. this airplane pack that I cannot wait to get). What else should I look forward to seeing in the future?

I finally had a sit down with Element 3D. Here's a comp I did just to get a feel for it.
July 18th, 2012 @ 7:07 pm
This is the model i got and its very detailed, following your steps in the tutorial to export it correctly to Element.

Hey Andrew and company, big fan of your work, own a company in Toronto, we love your Optical Flares plugin.

Looking to make the leap into this plugin for my studio, just had this one question, probably stupid.

1) Will I be able to interact and place objects into a 3D and have control over there over spatial positions based on camera tracking data from sythneyes and or 3ds max?

July 18th, 2012 @ 7:37 pm
Finally, being Determined and taking your education and the knowledge you are giving us, i got the freaking model to element the way it should is a screenshot on how now and say after 3 days with your help got it to look like a million bucks.

thank you Sir. now i can rest.
    July 18th, 2012 @ 8:20 pm
Great! Any tips for getting it in correctly that you found?

    i have one short question
when u export the obj files
does it also save textures with it as seen in the jet tutorial or are they made separately?
July 18th, 2012 @ 8:12 pm
This is a big change in the world of motion graphics. You have brought video game graphics technology into motion graphics production in an easy and truly efficient way, so thank you for making an old wish come true.

By the way here is a video of me playing around with my new toy over the last few days ! (totaly SFW)
July 18th, 2012 @ 9:22 pm
1- I started with the OBJ ORIGINAL FILE, which i opened in 3DMAX.
then did like you said while exporting, gw::OBJ-EXPORTER(*.OBJ)hit save.
The faces was set to Quads instead of triangles, did that with Normals checked and then exported. Opened it in Element and there it was white like a baby bottom:)
Now i have a biger problem, the front windows of the Huey are part of the body when i texture the body it covers the windows too. I cant edit them to make them look like glass as you did with the jet. In max how do i make everything editble to have controle over certain parts?
thank you again and i hope this will be usefull to some one like me out there who with your help can figure stuff out.
    July 18th, 2012 @ 10:22 pm
Check out the material tutorial in the help. What you need to do is separate the windows and assign a separate texture. Then you can edit it separately in Element.

How to download this tutorials, need eagerly.
July 18th, 2012 @ 11:12 pm
Man, I am scaring my self. i took one of the original files named uh1.lwo
and opend it in C4D then skippied to where you said make editble which is off on my screen,so that was a no go. Then after that you selected the object and selected (current state to object) saved it just like you did with the pole. opend in element ,every part is editable now. Amizing thing Element, its like feeling rich but you realy poor. I WOULD LIKE TO SHARE A VIDEO WHILE IAM TEXTUERING THE CHOPPER LATER ON.

Again thanks!!

I noticed at one point toward the end of this tutorial that your timeline was rendering while you were clicking on some layers (the green bar was filling up your work area). Was this a feature in CS6 or was there some short cut or plugin you used that I don't know about?
July 19th, 2012 @ 2:38 pm
Can we have downloadable tuts (e.g Importing Objects & Building Materials) or have them hosted on Youtube. Cheers

Hi Andrew, if i purchase Element with one license for my pc win OS, can i use the same to my macbook pro? thanks!
    July 19th, 2012 @ 6:57 pm
    - or should i buy another license for me to use it from a different machine. Like adobe, if you buy any of their product you will get two serials, one for mac and one for pc. Is this possible in Element?
July 20th, 2012 @ 9:57 am
Hey Andrew, I'm a follower since the COW days, and i have to spit something i've been repeating my self to my self:
You deserve a "Technological Achievement Award" (like they do on the academy)
Seriously man, Who is with Me?
After this there are absolutely no excuses but lack of creativity to stop us from making some serious work!!!
Thank you so much for being such a wicked human being!
I think that you gave us the biggest present a master could ever give to it's pupils and at the same time "A BIG KICK ON THE NUTS OF THE BLOOD SUCKING MONOPOLIZED BIG CORPORATIONS"
Yeah i said it....

Hi Andrew, I'm a bit under the thumb, my wife can't justify me spending the money on Element, I figured the $495.50 pack was best for me ;) I was hoping you could put a good word in for me to convince her how badly I need it! I'm dieing here! Need help & need Element!!
July 23rd, 2012 @ 6:21 pm
hi andrew,

i have made some c4d models and was hoping to use them in the plugin. but every time i put them in they lose there texture. is there an easy way to put the c4d textures in to the plugin?

July 23rd, 2012 @ 9:11 pm
Hey andrew, I was wondering, can you create and upload your own environment maps, or do you have to use the ones the plug-in comes with? Element looks great though, I'm just saving to get it. Thanks.
July 26th, 2012 @ 7:20 am

Let me start by saying I'm glad I bought the entire package. Wonderfull plugin guys!

I don't know if I should post this here, but there is a bug of some kind. When I add more than 8 spot/parralel lights in a scene the colors get messed up. I've added two screenshots as html links for reference.

AE models (did not make cinema4d models myself)and AE projectfile here:

(BTW A great feature in element would be the autoimporting of textures. Load them into element with the tools that cinema 4d uses. 2nd casting shadows :))

Blender users really need a tutorial on how best to set up textures so exported models work in Element. You briefly touched on settings (triangulate faces and add normals)but many of us are struggling with models that import into Element with no shading/textures at all. Your guidance would be much appreciated!

Is it possible to have more than 5 objects in element 3d? How can i increase/add separate objects.
March 2nd, 2013 @ 8:58 pm
Andrew, please let us know what settings are best for exporting from blender to Element so that textures come through.
August 31st, 2013 @ 2:00 pm
Hey, i have been using element and the 3d camera tracker for quite some time now and the weirdest thing happened. i was editing a video with element and the camera tracker and the clip i was using went black. i could see the letters in element but not the clip behind it. but then i hid the camera tracker from the composition and the screen went back to normal, but my text wasn't camera tracked because i hid the camera tracker in order for my clip to appear instead of it just being a black background. Help would be greatly appreciated. thanks
