Element 3D GPU bug fixes and more!

The dust has not even settled after releasing our new plug-in Element 3D and we already have a maintenance update for our new plug-in Element 3D because that’s how we roll!

We’re dedicated to making this plug-in rock solid and we appreciate the feedback and responsiveness from you guys. Our team has been working through the night to fix a few bugs and improve the plug-in and the update is now live. New customers will automatically get it and previous customers just need to reinstall the plug-in.

Element 3D Update Page:

You’ll also notice that inside the plug-in we added a handy notification that will tell you if a new update is available so you can stay current. BTW: The download system will also automatically add a new download try to your account when we release updates. We really tried to make this process as easy as possible!

IMPORTANT: Please be sure to update your graphics Drivers from ATI.com or NVIDIA.com for best performance with ELement 3D! We found some of the auto-updates for the drivers don’t have access to the latest unless you go to the website.

On mac, the driver updates are inside the OS updates so make sure your system is up to date for newest drivers.

A free infantry model pack would be great right about now. We already saw the helicopter and jet in the demo which was somewhat misleading. I got a bunch of missiles but nothing to fire them!

Nice plug-in! Thanks for the update! Since,Cinema 4D isn't used by everyone, do you have plans in the near future to include importing of Lightwave, Modo, or Maya files? That would certainly be useful to customers and ensure that more professionals/hobbyists would add Element to their pipeline!
    July 12th, 2012 @ 12:43 pm
What I know is that Maya, Max 3ds etc. can in fact export .OBJ files that work quite as well as a C4D model. Right me if I'm wrong. =)

Im having issues exporting some OBJs from lightwave, in particular a logo which has text in it and a 'swirl' behind the text.. basic OBJs seem to be exporting fine.. Any clues as to how to best set up the models for exporting? It would be great if you added support for .lwo to element as well!!

Hey Andrew, quick question I haven't seen addressed yet. I'm running CS6 off of Windows, but on a Mac through bootcamp. I've got a Radeon HD 5700 series card, and have the newest drivers installed from ATI's website, but they're under the bootcamp option. I could technically install the latest Windows drivers, but I've done that in the past and had it cause problems on the Mac side somehow.

Would those bootcamp drivers work ok still? They haven't been updated since Jan. 2011...

Link to said driver is here if it helps: http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/Pages/bootcamp-win7.aspx

Thanks! Can't wait to get started with Element soon.

    July 12th, 2012 @ 12:35 pm
I should add that I'm on Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit, and Snow Leopard on the Mac side, both fully up to date.
    July 12th, 2012 @ 1:10 pm
Ya.. I"m not sure. We don't really support a bootcamp configuration so we don't even know.
    Jeremy Abbott
    July 12th, 2012 @ 1:28 pm
Fair enough, guess I'll be the guinea pig then. If it ends up not working, would I be able to switch the license over for a Mac version instead?

    Of course!

    July 29th, 2012 @ 11:28 am
I'm also very curious about this--running a dual-boot Mac Pro w/ Lion OS X / Win 7 Pro 64-bit and an Nvidia GT120, both OS up-to-date. Love to get this plug-in to work...but the driver definitely needs to be updated. Nervous about doing an update w/ the 3/12 Nvidia PC driver update (296.10) because system works fine now and don't want to BSOD. Anyone gets a Boot Camp setup working w/ Nvidia cards, PLEASE post! Otherwise I'm stuck working on my laptop :(
    July 29th, 2012 @ 12:18 pm
Unfortunately,boot-camp is not really supported because of driver issues. Some people have been able to get it working with some cards. We can offer you a refund for the product of course.

    July 29th, 2012 @ 1:50 pm
Thanks, AK, appreciate it! Hopefully a video driver update/solution will present itself (already putting inquiries in on Apple Support etc). I can run reasonably well off my PC laptop--just might need to swing my 2nd seat (desktop) over to the Mac in the meantime (I assume that's fairly easy to do--have both installers downloaded).
    Taig Khris
    September 1st, 2012 @ 4:46 pm
Actually I understand now why it's still not working on mine. It's because I also have bootcamp. You said some people made it work with some cards. Can you please tell me which one?

No surprise from me to how quickly you guys worked to iron out the rough spots., you just needed to be left to it. I just loaded it onto my two systems. I’m assuming 1.0.322 is the re chiseled Element? Just to let you know I’m not seeing the new build notification. Or is that only visible in the un updated version? Will this work alongside projects already created with Element that were having some teething issues, or will the projects benefit from being rebuilt?
Thanks in advance

Hey Andrew, where did you get that UH60? I can't find one that looks that good and they r expensive...I need a pack with a helicopter, a fighter jet and a commercial airliner and I would be set..!
Phil
July 12th, 2012 @ 1:00 pm
It amazes me that people keep banging on about wanting a free helicopter model!

The plugin itself is incredibly cheap at just $149 - to expect to get a free 3D model of a helicopter included in that is just ridiculous!

Take a reality check and have a look on a 3D stock website like Turbosquid - you'll find the average price for a 3D helicopter model on its own is about $150!

Congratulations to the Video Copilot team on Element 3D - with this and Optical Flares you really are raising the bar for the quality of After Effects plugins, and I'll look forward to buying it as soon as I have a project it can be used on :)
    James
    July 12th, 2012 @ 1:41 pm
Not free...If i'm going to pay 200$ for a helicopter model I'd rather buy the one he's using. The ones at that price on turbosquid look like sh*t. I was just asking where he got it.
    July 12th, 2012 @ 1:50 pm
We made it. And it may be part a future pack... perhaps. A model like that takes almost 2 weeks to create...
    Phil
    July 12th, 2012 @ 1:49 pm
Sorry James, I wasn't writing that in response to your comment - it just ended up getting posted after yours! (I was posting it in response to all the people begging for a free model on the various Element blog entries that last couple of days!)

Phil, $150 Cheap ... Are you kidding me? :O
    Tom
    July 22nd, 2012 @ 6:47 pm
Jovica, yes, $150 IS a very reasonable price for this plugin. I gladly paid almost $500 for the bundle, since I can easily cover that investment, and even gain more, in couple of weeks of work.
    September 6th, 2012 @ 11:33 am
Don't be like that !! you sound like a Snob.... I think its a bit of a deflating feeling when Andrew shows you all these amazing projects and techniques which you cant always practice to effect strait away ... it is deflating when Andrew shows you how to for example create a Set extension and in the tutorial you got Sam walking casually through the scene and thats it and then you would see a really updated version of the same thing only now theres what looks like a real helicopter in the scene with dust plumes and allsorts ... after spotting something like that during one of Andrews trailers or tutorials your gonna wanna try it right there and then only there isnt a tutorial for the helicopter bit or a model helicopter on offer for you to go try it yourself ... that is very fraustraiting if you cant model your own or cant afford to buy a model of a helicopter.. you must see it from broke peoples point of view who maybe trying to learn on a very low budget... Andrew could of included one model flying aircraft even if it was just a basic model... that would of made whole thing glossy same thing with the Armoured Van... i dont like to be teased..!!

You guys are faaast little piggies! I had an issue with the Replicator Shape being a 3D Object that was different from the actual 3D object being replicated -- resulted in nothing showing up. But after the maintenance update everything's peaches. And that was before I even had time to check if it was a real issue or not!

Thumbs up to you and your team, Andrew!

Great! This might have fixed some wire-frame display issues I was having this morning.

I'd love to see an in-depth tutorial on how to set up your geometry objs for import. So far I've had some issues getting the cool group effects to animate. I know its me, just center point issues and some other things. Seems like I'm doing too many steps and its not working as well as your models. Still experimenting with a good workflow between apps from 3d to element.

Hi...
Is it possible to create a spider web or neural network using Element 3d without going through 3d programs like cinema 4d, 3d max and blender?

July 12th, 2012 @ 2:43 pm
Hi Andrew

Not sure if this is a bug or not... Want to animate shattered sphere solid to shattered sphere to text layer.
Have in 3 seperate groups in element. Got animation to go from group 1 to 3. It isn't going through group 2 to get to it. It goes from Group 1 to Group 3 missing Group 2. Is it supposed to go through all the groups to get to the one you want to. Say Group 1 through 5???

Thanks in Advance... And i must say sweet product!!!
    Jim Gravina
    July 12th, 2012 @ 2:47 pm
    Sean,
As far as what I have read and played with myself, the animation engine will only interpolate between 2 groups.
    July 12th, 2012 @ 2:54 pm
Currently the animation engine only works as you are describing when the model it the same on both groups. And the system only works between 2 groups. But we have discussed ways to expand on this idea.. of multiple interpolations.
    July 12th, 2012 @ 2:58 pm
To work around the 2 group limitation, make 2 comps. First comp has group 1=sphere1 and group 2=spehere2. Second comp will have your group 1= sphere2 and group 2 =text. Composite those together and bam! done. lol
    Christian Michael
    July 12th, 2012 @ 2:59 pm
THAT...would explain a lot. I've just spent two hrs working on this. I thought it was me doing something a-miss. I guess I'll find a work around.
    July 12th, 2012 @ 2:59 pm

    July 12th, 2012 @ 7:37 pm
Yup, element runs really smooth on a Quadro 2000. I am actually running Quadro 2000D, 8GB, i5 processor and 1TB HDD, and everything runs smoothly, no problems. I'm downloading the update now just for any other stabilities that may have been included (not that it is unstable right now, it is working fine) It renders fast both in viewport and in final render.

What OS and AE VErsion running on your MAC?

Is anyone running Element on more than one install on the same PC ? Can I do that ? Will I be able to install Element in CS5 and CS6 if they both run on the SAME machine ?
    Jim P
    July 12th, 2012 @ 7:51 pm
Well, guess everyone was busy, so I just went and bought it anyway. In case anyone was wondering, YES. You can run both CS5 and CS6 instanaces of Element on the same PC without a hiccup. I was hoping that was the way it was, and it is. Doesn't like dual Quadro FX1800's though. Already ordered a GTX580!

Is the plug-in alone worth getting without the shaders or model packs?
Does it come with anything included to start you off?
    July 12th, 2012 @ 4:56 pm
I would say yes! The shader pack is really nice to have but the ability to make 3D text and objects from masks is mega-worth it. The base plugin comes with 20 customizable materials, and 118 3D object (feel free to correct me if I goofed that up!). And you can always find free 3D models online.

Greetings from Hell/Space/Camp Crystal Lake.

I noticed a key oversight in the "Sports" pack...
No hockey mask, Andrew? Tomorrow is Friday the 13th.

How am I supposed to create a bunch of infinitely regenerating 3D serial killers wading through dispersed bits of 3D college kids??
I guess this calls for practical effects...

I think I know what's wrong does your model have square faces because element needs the model to have triangular faces to work properly

I had the same problem when i tried to export my model from blender

tell me what program your using and maybe can help you out

After Googling, according to documentation (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms724868(VS.85).aspx), to use this API,

Minimum supported client : Windows XP Professional x64 Edition

Hence the API will not be found in the Windows XP SP3 Professional platform(I'm using x32 Edition).

Would you have a solution? Thank you very much!

God I wish I wasn't so broke! I really want this for my birthday! Gonna try and beg friends/family to pool some money together to get the bundle pack!

What upsets me, is the fact that people are already trying to crack this on torrent sites. I have so much respect for all the hard work and dedication your team puts into your products and tutorials. Even though I'm broke, I will save up because my family is poor and probably won't be able to help me, but I will NOT illegally download it!

Again, I will NEVER steal a video copilot product and you shouldn't too!

Do you guys keep track of people ripping you off on torrent sites?

I just think that you guys deserve the financial rewards (on top of the sheer awesome reward of completing the final product you created!).

Programmers and filmmakers know that this stuff takes lots of time to build. OK. I'm done. Can't wait to save enough!

Hey Andrew,

I was wondering how I can access the .obj files for the various model packs?

Right now they appear as .epack which I cannot open in Maya.

Thanks

Can you be a bit more detailed? When I open the Element 3D pack for After effects folder I only get a C4DProShaderInstaller, C4DProShaderInstaller.zip, ElementInstaller 1.0.345.dmg, ElementInstaller 1.5_Mac.zip, MotionDesignInstaller.dmg, and ProShadersInstaller.dmg. Clicking the Motion Design one only runs the installer, doesn't give me a folder of any sorts. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Congrats...simply awesome, Andrew.

Question. I take it that in this version...AE's lights do not cast shadows on Element's 3d objects. Correct or incorrect?
    July 12th, 2012 @ 11:43 pm
No shadows but there is Ambient Occlusion for inner particle/object shading.
    Travis
    July 14th, 2012 @ 8:43 am
I created shadows by precomposing the Element layer..
    October 5th, 2013 @ 4:51 am
VC Reflect + subcomp works, but selfshadows don't. Would be awesome if it would one day, still you have possibilities to wender out shadowmaps. An awesome way (@Andrew) would be to use a shadowmap for every state/frame of the obj sequence. Or not?

Hi Andrew, is it possible to access the self made 3d model presets path? we have 4 copies of elements and i would like to access from all 4 workstation the same presets over the network. possible?
thx!
    July 12th, 2012 @ 11:45 pm
It is possible with mapped network drives perhaps but everything is really designed for a single user to work locally. So there may be linking issues with networked paths etc. May take some experimentation.

Hey Andrew,

Great news and super cool plugin! I had seen the buzz around VideoCopilot earlier this week, but only got around to watching the demo video this morning.

Hey!
I was wondering if there is a function similar to "obscuration layer" in particular, So that you can have some parts of the element scene appearing infront of a 3d layer, and the further away parts of it hidden behind it.

I love the plugin but 3D models are expensive. Are you sure you guys couldn't make a way to import .skp files from Google 3D Warehouse? I know that they aren't as detailed, but for local television commercials, they will work in a pinch.

I have Cinema 4D R13 Studio, but I am a long way off from being able to design models like yours.

in this site they have free 3d models of everything

will these models work fine with textures and stuff as your chopper model was working

i hope you reply to this question

thanks
    July 13th, 2012 @ 3:42 am
There are some great models on that site, but most are .3ds files and unless you have the program to open them you're out of luck (I use C4D)

Are you sure using the latest Nvidia drivers is wise? For the current 301.42 I get less than half the framerate in games and benchmarks, including a lowly 4.9 windows experience index. On the previous 296.10 it flys, with a 7.7 index. This is on two different windows installations, one of them completely fresh.

Hi Andrew!

Once again, congrats for the amazing work with Elements.

I have been playing with this for a day and I have a few questions / curiosities, I know some of them may sound silly and maybe if I spend some more time over it I could get an answer.

Maybe this is asking too much, but, is there any way the particles could react to other objects in the comp? or even reacting with the other particles? Something like the Newton plugin thing. Or some way we could have some more control over the particles, in a way we could animate a path to follow or something? I don't know, I may be dreaming a little here, I know I can solve this using C4D, but i think it's worth to ask.

Any chance of animating things inside the Scene Setup? I would love to mess around the values one the Bevel thing.

About the Extrude option, I created an object with 3 different masks on it, my idea would be extruding the 3 masks with different values, but it seems I can only affect one mask at a time right?
I tried to solve this by creating 3 different solids each one with a single mask and with Elements applied, it works when I have them organized by layers but if I rotate the camera they don't cover each other, so basically what I get from a back view is the 3 objects overlayed. Am I missing something?

So, I've now used Element for a total of 40 minutes! I loaded up an obj of a DW tom drum I modelled a few years back. It was for extreme closeups, so the model weighs in at a ridiculous 1 million polys.

What happened?

Element just ate it all and rendered this in under a minute:
michaeldaugaard.net/Elementtest001.wmv

This is nuts!

There are some aliasing issues, but I decided to ignore that for now.
    James
    July 13th, 2012 @ 8:55 am
Nice! I'm trying to find workarounds for the aliasing myself. What card are you using? I tried loading a model around that size and it just hangs. I have a 1gb ATI card...
    Mike Nielsen
    July 13th, 2012 @ 9:00 am
Hi James. I've been blessed with a brand new machine just a few months ago, so I actually have the GeForce GTX 680 card (2GB). If you have aliasing issues as well, maybe that warrants a few tips from Mr. Kramer and Co. Kind regards, Mike
    James
    July 13th, 2012 @ 9:39 am
I actually emailed tech support about this and heard back from the man himself! What I found to help the most is the multisampling (32x is the most my card supports) I found that turning up the fxaa setting helps with static frames but not when there is movement. Still crawls. Here is what I got from Andrew...

"I would say this is pretty typical. Especially with poly models that have thin sharp edges and corners. There are a couple of things we are trying to do to improve this but the target Open GL version is limited.

But there are a couple of things to try, first see if your card supports 16x multi-sampling in the aliasing folder and play with the fxaa. The other to do is contrast the reflection map if possible. The other thing to try is playing with the fresnel to stop reflectivity on faces that do not seems towards the camera.

It will get better and there are many solutions capable but there isn't just one solution that works for every case.

    Thanks,
    AK"
    July 13th, 2012 @ 10:32 am
To clarify, you want to lower the contrast and avoid pushing the reflection intensity up to high. I'm working on a tutorial to show several tips for managing aliasing.
    Mike
    July 13th, 2012 @ 10:00 am
Thanks a lot for sharing that, James. There's a few things there, I don't quite get: "Aliasing folder"? "Contrast the reflection map"? I'm not a technical guy at all, so at the risk of sounding like an idiot: If the GPU actually performs the rendering, wouldn't you in theory be able to tweak the settings for the card in the OS (pc or mac), outside of AE and Element? Or does Element always "activate" your GFX card in the most appropiate manner? Thanks!
    Mike
    July 13th, 2012 @ 10:35 am
Thanks for clarifying, Andrew - I got carried away with my first render, so I may very well have gone overboard on the intensity.

Not sure if this has been addressed elsewhere, but you can get rid of the DOF artifacts by going into Render Settings > Depth of Field and switching Mode to Multi Pass. As it says, it will be slower, but cleans up the artifacts for me.

I am wondering, I have a diamond model I have imported. I apply the texture maps we have created in our custom vray interface for rhino ( www.gemvision.com/matrix ) and I can't figure out how to get transparency within the plugin. My diamonds look like this so far... http://www.gemvisionforum.com/daniel_smith/element.jpg As you will see I have no transparency... is there a setting I am missing that could allow me to accomplish this. My goal is to animate diamonds within this plugin by still staying as true as possible to the look of a diamond render that is ray rendered. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Mr. Andrew, 1 question.. what if you have a rigged model?.. Any way to animate that with Element?

July 13th, 2012 @ 8:14 am
Anytime soon you'll hear about a new option in Display View of Cinema4D & 3DS Max called '' Kramer Shading '' so no need for Gouraud shading anymore coz you can have such quality preview in real time without rendering ... WINNING !
July 13th, 2012 @ 8:18 am
I updated, however I noticed slow down occurring with Element once I did. I rolled back to the release version. I am running a hackintosh w/a Quadro 4000, i7 2600k processor, and 16GB of memory. Updated all my drivers/software as well. I believe my specs are adequate enough to run this. I was playing w/extruding text and noticed that when I would extrude my second bevel copy it wouldn't visually update in the preview window when I would move the slider. Also in the normal comp window it wasn't rendering quickly when I would move the camera. So I rolled back to the previous version which fixed the latter issue, but still is updating in real time within the preview window of the plug in.

Hi, Andrew. I'd like to make a feature request.
When I make an animation between two groups and in one of the groups rotation set to 360 degrees animation does nothing. It is neeful feature when working with text to make every letter turn for 360 separately.
    July 13th, 2012 @ 10:28 am
Turn on the multi-object and then adjust the rotation. This should do what you are talking about.
    Michael
    July 13th, 2012 @ 1:32 pm
It should but it doesn't. When the rotation in one group is 0 and the other group is 360 the animation does nothing! I checked it more than one time (with multi-object turned on)
    Michael
    July 13th, 2012 @ 1:41 pm
Thanks for the answer, but it doesn't help. When the animation of rotation between two groups equals whole revolution (360 degrees) it nothing.
    Michael
    July 13th, 2012 @ 1:45 pm

I don't have E3D yet, so forgive me if I'm mistaken, but you could try 0 in group 1 and 180 in group 2 and 360 in group 3 and see if that transform will work as a workaround. I had an old 3D program that had a similar problem and a solution like this worked for me. It's a bit of jumping through hoops, but it got the job done.

HI there,

Enjoying playing with the new build on Mac 10.7.4 6 core 3.33ghz with Radeon HD 5870 32GB Ram.

I am having an issue with RAM previews in which (after starting the render of a preview) Element does not seem to want to release the render in progress: If I try to interrupt the render, I get the delay beach ball and the machine is locked until the preview render finishes.

Is this expected behavior?

Thanks,

Fantastic product. I've played with it briefly but from what I've seen so far it can do some amazing graphics.

Also like to note that I'm using a Sony Vaio Z Series with a 256mb Nvidia 9300M GS graphics card. Apart from crashing when I tried generate 200 sports drinks bottles, lol, the plugin has worked flawlessly. This is the first product I've bought from VCP (Complete Element Bundle) and it won't be my last.

Oh and if you're thinking of buying this product, buy the complete bundle. Really is worth it. A steal at just over 300.

Just bought the $495.00 pack!! Andrew, your team is amazing and you are one talented guy. I put my full support in there because you go the extra mile to please your customers. Walter Biscardi needs to get you to come down and do a compositing special at an Atlanta Cutters meeting! Would be really cool to meet you!! Do you know Walter by chance?

Great plug-in Andrew. Bought the total package and am loving the simplicity and speed.

Alright. Now it's time for some feature requests/tweaks.

Please please please add the ability to distribute objects EVENLY along paths and other objects. Vertex distribution is cool I guess but it's rarely useful with text.
More precise modifications of object anchor points would be great.
And finally, a complete and thorough manual would be super helpful.
Apologies in advance if any of these already exist.

Thanks again!

I wholeheartedly agree with the anchor point request. I had a hell of a time getting a heli to move the way I wanted to without this feature...but I have to say Andrew and company have by far the best tech support I've ever seen. Software by nature will never be perfect and the most you can hope for is for the team to make an real effort to help. They solved an optical flares rendering bug I was having quickly and saved my butt with a delivery...thnx guys...(Matt's the man...)

I'm also a bit worried about controlling transforms on Element models. But haven't had to chance to test yet. Clearly that comes into play with camera tracking (many of us probably use other packages like PFTrack, Boujou). I also use Max2AE from Boomerlabs (I was on the beta team) that uses a copy/paste method of keyframes, (pos. rot. scale etc.). Will I be able to scale, place Elements 3D models EXACTLY where they need to be - I hope so. Thanks!
    July 14th, 2012 @ 1:24 am

Thanks for that. Yep, saw the motion track example, got excited, tried integrating with my motion tracked footage and got nowhere.
Is the solid that contains the Element plug-in supposed to be made a 3D layer or are the references to the tracked data connected to positions inside Elements position parameters?

Thanks for the quick reply Andrew. Looking forward to updates!

I've been doing a bit more thinking on the object distribution modes and think it would also be super cool if objects could be distributed to scene nulls or lights, kinda like the "track lights" feature in OF.
Something like this seems an easy enough tweak and would open up so many doors to quickly building scene setups in C4D to be used in AE.

One last thing. How does one go about using Element with motion tracked footage? Is the solid that contains Element made into a 3D layer?
I tried doing this by parenting the element layer to the tracked null and zeroing out the position but the z position is just way outside the cameras view.

Thanks everyone..
    Mike
    July 14th, 2012 @ 1:34 am
Thanks for writing, Andrew. I'm pretty sure that controlling Element is possible:o) Guess I'm just saying that we may need some help in doing the math. ATM I'm able to place an AE 3d solid exactly where I need it to be on 3d tracked footage (could be a tv screen for example).

And now for some insane ideas for future updates: Check out the 3dsmax Particle Flow Tools from orbaz.com. I know there's a lot of physics simulation that doesn't apply to Element, but the ideas for functionality is certainly there. Also, I'd like to direct your attention to the space warps in 3dsmax. I have no idea whether that principle is applicable to Element, but using 3D space to trigger parameters is very cool. Example: A 3D sphere gizmo with radius/falloff parameters, that controls the impact of position/rotation randomness. That would be cool. Allright, my name is Michael - untill next time...:o)

This Plug in is awesome!
Just please add a small for feature, if you can in next version to add zoom in for the Preview window.. I try to do some fine tuning in bevel and it is so small to see the changes.
Thanks!!

I am No Longer A Mooch!
Bought the fist bundle Element 3D with Shaders. Thank you AK and VC for offering sucha wonderful product at a price that i can afford. I am just starting my company in this field and I have a long way to go, but every day a learn and do a little more. I will continue to buy your other products in time to lend my support to a bunch of wonderful people. Now don't change a thing! Keep the price where it is! Don't sell out!
You are taking over the plug in market. Don't sell out to the bog dogs. A wise man would instead say, become the big dog and buy them out instead.
Thank you all again.

Quite frankly, updating to the latest nVidia driver seemed to do more harm than good- all the videos I played on the web had some wonky green blocks and distortion on them after updating and I had to rollback to the very old install I had prior. The only good it seemed to do was to change the 0MB reading on the Element interface that I had before to 555/768. I use a nVIDIA Quadro FX 1800. Wonder if Andrew or anyone else has something to say about this.
July 14th, 2012 @ 9:42 am
Wow, this plugin is massive!

For a customer we tried to export their CAD drawings as .obj out of PRO/E (engineering software).
Without tweaking the assembly we managed to get instant results! (instant equals appr. 30 minutes assigning textures)

I didn't dig very deep into Element yet. I expect even better results after exploring the plugin further.

Here is our example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lRd0aF2bS8U

Also, I didn't run into bugs yet. Seems pretty stable on my system (nvidia gtx-470, 1,5 gb - i7 950 - 12 gb ram, AE CS6)

Well done VC team!

Greetings from The Netherlands,

Maarten

OK. So today I am pre-fracturing text inside C4D by applying Thurasi to Motext, saving, opening in Element, then doing the animation thing between two groups. I now have shattered text exploding, rising bit by bit, and falling away bit by bit (who needs Transform?).
Way cool but I have to wonder, would it be too much trouble to add a little sub folder under the multi object folder that would allow a couple of shatter types like uniform and random (voronoi) to be applied to any object?

It would be a huge time saver since native Element text with its bevels etc. is much easier to create and use.

And, you know....shattering stuff is cool.

Anyone else had an issue with the bevels in the text category opening up distorted and overly beveled? As in all ballooned up and out of style for each preset? This only seems to be an issue after installing the updated version of Elements. Before that they all seemed to be fine in this category.

Andrew,

Got a question for you. How do I integrate Element in to a track scene with a the Foundry Camera Tracker.

For example, doing a time freeze scene and I am panning from nearly a dead on shot of a person shooting at me. You see the flash, the bullet coming out, then the camera begins to panning around to the right, focused on the gun and bullet.

Could use some help on that.

Thanks,

I have the updated plugin. Apparently I bought it after the update came out, but running a Radeon HD card, I'm still having trouble with stability and some glitching in renders. The stability seems to be related to using expressions and glitching just comes about randomly in renders. Is there another update on the way soon? Pretty please... :) Other than these issues, this is the most awesome plugin I've seen for After Effects - Particular doesn't come close!

Hey people! I really really want this product, as I'm sure most of you did/do.

My problem is I'm running a MacBook Pro from Mid 2009 (even though it was bought in 2010...prior to the October release of the newer one) and the ad for Element 3D says "512mb Minimum Graphics Card" and after looking at the supported cards, I noticed mine is listed (under diminished performance)

Basically my question is this: I am running a 2.66 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo with 8GB of RAM, and a NVIDIA GeFroce 9600M GT 256MB on OSX Lion with After Effects CS4. Think I should be able to run it without a snap? OR will it just be that bad? I've dreamed of 3D in After Effects for years and I don't want to have to wait until I get a newer computer >.<
