This is great! The effects look awesome… Thanks Andrew! I’m having one issue though:

I’m on CS5 on a Mac… I open up the project file and everything looks fine, but it’s like the colors of the text animators are cached or something… like when you click on the color picker, it’ll bring up the wrong color and then you can’t find the original color you were using in it to make the color pop.

Anyone else having this issue?

Hello Andrew, this might be a very basic question but when I opened the project file I noticed that when you turn the text into a 3D layer there are 2 cubes icon instead of the 1 cube. what does it mean? and there’s no camera or null object or anything … so can you clear that Andrew? thanks a lot man

Andrew- your text animations look great!

I downloaded your sample project and tried replicating the effect on my own from scratch using CS5. Even though every single last setting is identical to yours, the color effects are much more subdued looking than the example.

When I copy your animator setting and paste it on my text, the effect matches. I’m not sure why this happens, especially since every setting is identical. Any thoughts?

That icon you mentioned appears when you’re using a property called PER-CHARACTER 3D TEXT, available only to text layers. Maybe you never used it, so you have never seen it before. Try experimenting, though, for it is a powerful resource.

I know its not good, but i’m saying that the explosions, debris, shoots, looks like its from action essentials 2…just kidding..

I tend to do as many of my fx in 32bpc as my poor overworked processor will let me. Nothing beats the punch of proper light bloom, and I was really glad that Optical Flares is 32bpc. Just wished more plugins were, e.g. the CC plugins, and the stock Lens Blur plugin.

I tried doing this from scratch on my own to learn the technique, but I could never get the colors to pop nearly as much as your example. I even tried match your sample project setting for setting but no luck. Then I went back and re-watched the sparks tutorial. Turns out my fill color wasn’t super-brite. Once I realized that I tweaked the settings and it’s looking great!

Which codecs/file formats support 32 bit color? When you output a beautiful looking 32 bit ae project back to the standard 8 bit animation codec .mov all the cool 32 bit look goes away. How can you get the 32 bit look back into into a usable format?

Dear all, forgive my ignorance: Although it’s not the main purpose of the project, I really enjoyed the per-character animation. While tinkering with the settings I couldn’t figure out which of the animation properties makes the characters cross & slide from one side to the other.

Only by adding a “position” property it kinda looks the same but the original doesn’t use it. Am I missing something?
