@angel – great tip. the vc reflect plugin was crashing my renders at full res (worked sometimes at half res). but with your tip, i was able to make it work most times. thanks.

Hey Andrew!

Big fan of the tutorials! I came across AE CS5 when I received my student software package and have been learning from you since! I have a new found interest/passion in motion graphics and effects after being inspired by what you have done with the software.

My question however is that I have tried to use the VC Reflect plug in on some of my creations. The only problem is that when trying to bring in the plug from my HD into the program this is the dialog box that pops up:

Cannot be imported because it is not a recognized file type.

Do you have any suggestions on how to troubleshoot this problem?

I’ve been using this useful plug recently in a project but at render time the comps were failing. After some debugging I found out that if you turn all of the blur options off the comp will successfully render.

Fantastic plugin, using it for a few projects right now in CS3.

However, I’ve had a few failures on render. I seem to have come down to this plugin as the culprit, but only where an item using it is moved off stage. Ie, text or ojects sliding out to the side.
You can detect if the render will fail because in the viewport seeking one frame at a time, the viewport won’t update for two or three frames.
Turning vc reflect off for those items half on and off stage at that time will allow those frames to render in viewport and now not crash the render.

Sure it’s something small, not a HUGE problem, just thought I’d let you know since apart from that vc reflect is fantastic!

Hi, Andrew!
This is a realy great plug-in!
And the best thing is it’s reeeeealy useful.
I was thinking, maybe with a little re-encode you can make another plug-in for making shadows. I think it’s a very similar process: duplicate the instance, fill with black, adjust opacity, make a fall off, blur, etc.
I don’t know, it’s just an idea.
Maybe I’m wrong, so just forget about it.
Anyway, thank you very much for make this great product free.

I think VCP is the best source for learning AE. Iv been visiting this site for the past 8 months, watching tuts and buying few dvds. Its too good, Andrew keep up the good work (Y).

I was looking forward for a jumper effect tut, iv seen many on youtube but im sure what you;re going to make is gonna be the undisputed champion.
