Nice Episode!
Love OLF!
Lovely stuff!
I’m excited. I’m pretty sure Optical Flares will be a good plugin.
Hi,
WOW I cannot wait for the lens flare gizmo.
great Vodcast? look foward to more.
Stay cool and much big love to you and your family.
HAPPY XMAS/HALLOWEEN
Yeah, 18 min is a bit long… Kind of hard to squeeze in during lunch at work :/
But hey, it is still worth sitting through the rambling to pick up a jem every now and then
Thanks!
Also I was an eagle scout and I write here and I would congratulate for the work that you and your staff do…
p.s. sorry for any grammar mistakes
WOW!!! Cool. I love this stuff
that was awesome
It’s really cool!
And your interface is really cool.
Nice Episode!
Love OLF!
I can’t wait for this to come out
did you say the sponsor was coke?
I don’t think they’d be very happy about the pepsi at the end haha
I know, at first I was like “Did Coca-Cola actually sponsor them” then when he opened the Pepsi, I was like
Thanx a lot
interesting plugin
Great format. Looking forward to the new product.
I’m in lens flare heaven, I pity the fool who spent so much dough on knoll light factory.
The 4:3 guide…oh no you didn’t!
I think this video really demonstrates the value of the Optical Flares plug in. At $140 I was a little skeptical but after seeing that interface, it blows Knoll Light Factory out of the water! KLF looks like a piece of crap compared to your interface. Not to mention I see many many more customization features. Can’t wait to buy it!
Very nice
Thanks Andrew
Great job
Greetings from gaza
Great videocast,
I can connect with your humour and you know what you’re talkin about, Love it.
Love these blog cast’s
Nice Nice. seems to delevop to an interesting thing. Ever thought about doing a tutorial or “Video Blog”-entry live? That would be nice, wouldn’t it?
greets from Germany
melle
dude… you need to charge more for Optical Lens flares! That is amazing.
One of the best plug-ins I have ever seen, with a very low price. Making a promo like the AccionEssentialsPromo would be a piece of cake with OLV. Good job on the interface too!
Plugin looks great, and thanks for the quick tip on cloning and that I really like the “bite size” tips.
Optical Flares looks great, I knoll light factory though so I am not sure if that would be flare overkill.
But I love the look of the interface and feel of it all. you guys make great products.
it’s absolutely incredible!!!
is coca-cola your sponsor or it’s only a joke? :-/
I think it’s a joke, cause he opened a can of pepsi at the end haha
Hey what’s up andrew!!
Man, i’m a very fan of your work, amazing!!!!im trying to do something like, to provide knowledge here (Brazil) to people who wants to learn this amazing tool. im a two weeks user and trying to go very far. if you can take a look at my teaser.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0sf7aGnNrpk
once more congrats!!!!!!!
Absolutely stunning! I am very impressed. I used to use FX Home Visionlab Studios which allowed you to create semi-realistic optic flares of your own, but this is far beyond that and definitely worth the money. Fantastic guys!
Nice fight tutorial too.
I didnt see anything.
for real!!!
its great see you, but i think that you must do a Joke Show some thing like “everybody loves andrew” hahahaha im´just kidding, great blog and excelent products in this moment my wife is pregnant but after all i try to saving some money to buy the action essential 2″,
tanks for every thing i learn soo much here
god bless you and go on!!!
That was Brilliant
is nice the new format by the way
Hey Andrew! Awesome update, you really helped me a lot with the fight enhancement and…wow!what a beautyfull Optical Lens Flare Interface!I will buy it!!!
I like the bear part that was good.
Oh my god… u should be working for the foundry or something, i’m just amazed, john knoll will be impressed!
hahahah in the end!
Hail to you Andrew! Awesome suff, as usual.
One critic: no lightbox please!
Fantastic! The Blog show is really kicking off now, and I loved the insights to the new tutorials and product. It looks amazing!
Love the ending aswel: sponsered by Coca-Cola….that’s why Andrew opened a can of Pepsi….?!
Nice One
Impressive!!!
Optical Flares looks great
I think you take the wrong can XD
!!! Awesome !!!

Thanks Andrew ,, Thanks video copilot
Looked like Pepsi – not coke.
But that plugin is sick! There aren’t many (or any) plugins for ANY other program or any other subject that are this well made. User friendly and high quality results – just Awesome!
dude now I know the Optical Flares is totally worth it!
Optical Lens Flare is going to change the AE world.
lol that was a pepsi at the end
nice Awesome update
Thank you this. Great to see you again !
Love it … it’s a bargain for $140. Can’t wait to get it.
Jarmo Pohjaniemi
Great video! I’m now looking forward to Opitcal Flares. Loved the pepsi at the end, btw.
Totally awesome. Makes knoll light factory seem old. Like those old apple computers with the floppy disks old.
Dude Totally excited about optical flares….i cant wait to buy its totally worth $140….Hey the Pepsi at the end LOL that was hilarious!!!!
Keep Rambling too i always love to hear what you gonna come up with next…
MUCH LOVE to you Andrew, your family, the VCP Team….Thanks for your hard work and effort… Im A video Producer and You definitely make my life easier..
Thanks Jay
MORE RAMBLING PLEASE! That was incredible. $140 is definitely cheap for such a robust plugin. And, wait a second, that was a Pepsi you were drinking, shame on you Andrew for turning your back on Mountain Dew.
Great news everybody! Knoll Light Factory Pro is on sale for only $279.30!
Jesus H. Christ will will you guys keep it down, the guys over at Red Giant are going to catch wind of this and be quite Sad that Andrew Kramer the tutorial guy just made a plug-in thats better than theirs. LOL
JK i still use KLF, but i might just buy this because the lens flares look much cooler.
Awesome
. Totally blown away by the interface, that’s looking great.
Will Optical Flares also be available for mac?
ha ha, love the twitch plug that you added in the beginning… can’t wait for the product to release. And love the “ground breaking” intro Thanks for all that you do and for inspiring us all. Take care, and God bless.
Coca-Cola… hehe
wow, that plugin… cant wait to see more of it! Thank you for this cool vid.!
Hey Andrew!
This new videoblog is much better in sd-resolution!
Have to say that the bear joke wasn’t that funny. It is also nice to notice that you edit out most of those random mumblings.
But anyway. UI of that optical flare -plugin looked brilliant. I was really astonished! Let me say, this product is going to be real hit! It shows up amazing programming skills that you guys have. It is ingenious how someone can make the most used effect of the 90′s look still interesting and cool!
Have you code some of it by your self or do you have some specialist for that job? How much of the interface has your own design? Did you create the layout, buttons and all that and then someone then coded it? or how was it done?
What a preview! Can’t wait the final product!
Good job!
Lol I just posted a comment and it told me to say something “useful”… neway I definitely like the show… hope coke doesn’t come after u for that tho !!
Love the ending!!
nice one ak…you said coke ..and end pepsi…..nice
Slickness. I was going to make my own lens flair from the “Lens Flaire 2000″ kit they sell at CostCo. But you need a really long extension cord, and you have to be there in person to turn the light on in the background, and move around the room holding the lamp, as every client views the effect. So on the one hand it is cheap, but then you gotta figure in your time and the extension cord. I gotta say this is way a head of the “Lens Flaire 2000″ When would I be able to get me some o this?
hahaha at the end with a Pepsi…
Now, I’m convinced to buy Optical Flares …
I’m not kidding …
Master Jedi Kramer I am having an argument with a friend about your tools of the trade. I think you use a Mouse and are just really good at it and He feels like you use a Cintiq. Could you settle our dispute?
wow wow… What a difference from the last blogs, this one makes sense to me. Thanks for structuring the whole thing so it feels professional! Timewise i think you made the right choice, blog/show. And 18 minutes felt good also. Anyway It all felt right.
And the lens flare plugin is the bomb. Can’t wait to mess around with that. Quick question, will there be a demo version?
Good question about the Mac and if it will be available in OSX. But seriously…Optical Flares looks so exciting. I can’t wait to get it (for Mac).
Wow, Andrew! Cool stuff, man! I can’t wait to see more about Optical Flares… I really looks sweet…
By the way, very good ending…
Greetings from Argentina.
Best episode so far! The plug-in looks AWESOME! The interface looks slick, fancy and above all EASY TO USE, with presets with gigantic image’s so you dont have to click and see what they look like, you’ll instantly see how they look! VERY NICE and the fancy animations, it’s nice, but maybe on REALLY BIG projects you might want to add a turn off switch for them so it goes a bit faster
PEPSI!!!! hahaha
Great Show!
Always funny, Always Impressive!
Wow, now I see that Optical Flares really worth the price! And actually, it’s even cheap! Great work!
When I knew that optical lens flare will come out, it didn’t interest me. But NOW!
Yes I Want To Buy It!!!
And Coca Cola Support?! WOW!
Thats F en AMAZING!!!!!
Coca ~ Cola sent me an email to cease watching all VC content. All kidding aside. I told my wife (AKA Mrs Klaus)to get Me the Lens-flare Plugin for Christmas, if Im a good Husband of course. Otherwise give me the money in the amount of what it costs to purchase the plugin.
IM IN BOYCSOUTS
i have archery too lol
yaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy
Suggestion: put the little banner competition inside these clips!
Great stuff B)
love the interface andrew, i konw how difficult it is to get an oparational interface for anythig that actuly works,
i have always tryed to avoid lens flares , but this is very interesting.. i realy do think its time to try and better ‘your friend and mine plug in’ ,,,, Particular, i dont know if this would be posable, but it would rather neat.
VpeaceV
n1 andrew …..i like this show
A Nobels Peace Price in VFX for you and your crew!
Dude that interface is sick! i was wondering why it was $150, but after that… well worth it
CAN’T WAIT FOR YOU TO RELEASE OPTICAL FLARES!!!
Really Amazing. That little snipit on the fight sequence piece will really help sell a few shots from the movie I’ve been working on for 3 years. Cheers Andrew! Thanks!
Seriously, seriously great plugin!
One thing I was wondering, how are you going about ‘making’ those flares in the first place? Did you start by building a collection of flares from the ground-up inside of aftereffects using coloured solids and feathered masks? Or is it all handled ‘in code’?
Wow! Blog tutorials! Something new! Cool U’ve found a sponsor, hope U will be a great video empire!
“Not very good!”
The Red giant products are rubbish compared to this videocopilot plug-in.
Great show! i love the new format and cant wait for the next one. it would be awesome if you made some short skits or something to throw in there for fun to show off some of your skills, like the mini movie you created for The Meteor tutorial series (not that we dont already know your VFX skills are amazing). anyways OLF looks even better than i imagined, love the interface! and the coca cola sponsor/pepsi joke was great
You’re right. The time did fly.
And oh, just like the Ancient Titles the pepsi comes in when Coca-Cola’s in the light. Genius…
Stop telling me about this Plug-In, sell it to me…
Just Kidding. Love the Lens Flare Studio. Maybe you can give us more information about that on in a later show?
Awesome job guys, looking forward to purchasing another great product. Loved the pepsi at the end, perfect AK humor.
nice interface.
and nice hair:D:D:D
It just keeps getting better and better. I love your sense of humor. Thanks coca cola!
Congrats on the new plugin. Looks fantastic.
Andrew, it took a lot of work to put this show together, thank you. I listened to your video blog while working on AE, so I have no problem with 15+ minutes show. I like long video blog.
In future, I hope you will find time to produce audio podcast on Visual Effects and Movie Effects.
Thanks Andrew.
you have to say:”welcome to another AWESOME blog video show”.
you have to stay real!!!
I started to think it’s cheap at $140! Awesome work.
Greetings from ROMANIA…you’re the best Andrew! Awesome pulg-in!And also the bars….and the numeric preset cool!

What can I say… Video Copilot/plugins/tutorials never cease to amaze me
Andrew & Staff:
I would just like to say that I am glad to see how far you have come since Creative Cow. I have only been watching this site for a year, but I am absolutely in love with the visual techniques. Keep up the great work!
I am looking forward to buying my first product in the weeks to come!
Thank you!
A.R. Herrington

LMAO….dude love the Pepsi can at the end…
Optical Flares looks amazing can’t wait! all in all it’s good to be seeing even more of you though I must admit that sharp increase in robot malfunctions are very troubling
Well now im kind of sorry i said the plug-in was expensive. It is totally not!
Being able to create your own lens flare is so fantastic, and so new!!
You amaze me everytime Andrew!
By the way, money from me is comming when time is in!!!
“Coca cola is the sponsor” he said with a grin. Then he casually opens a pepsi
Holly crap!!! The plug-in is insane… I can’t believe it’s so top notch on a small price. U R the man!!!
Dam i want coce now :/
I can’t wait for this plug in. Just finished up a music video that would definitely look amazing with those trigger lens flares tracked into some of the shots. When are we going to be seeing a release Andrew? Hopefully soon, I’ll buy it right away!
Lens Flares looks amazing!
I was truly flabbergasted
you should make a tut using a coke can and optical flares and sam
Hilarious!
Andrew, when will we see more of your latest short with Sam beating up that guy?
Thanks,
George
Haha you made me laugh with that Pepsi one.

-From an Eagle Scout of Troop 870, Ellport, Pennsylvania.
Okay… there are TWO opportunities:
1. Andrew is god!
2. Andrew has a very good rapport with god xD
Dont’ have time to watch this
Love this page.. There´s no other page that contributes with such high educational videofxs tutorials and sets.. if there is, then tell me!
Great entertainment! OLF looks like a nobrainer to me…
LOL the new plug-in explains all those lens flares in star trek…
Andrew, you need to make a tutorial for that intro were the group breaks up. Looks AHMAZING!!
I hope you consider that for a tutorial soon! That would make my day.
Nice video too
-Justin
Well the new format works for me… good to get an inside track on what’s going on in VCP, get some quick tips & tricks – AND have a giggle.
Keep it up, bud
man i want a coca cola sponsor too
and a pizza one
Michael Bay is going to go nuts over this plugin.
He loves his lens flares.
Cool!
So…
… how many times a night are you getting up now?
Hey, I’m a boy scout!
I love hearing the updates about Copilot, and what’s coming soon.
Are you seriously sponsored by Coca Cola, or is that another joke??
-From a Boy Scout in San Luis Obispo, Troop 308.
brother…where is the dew?
optical flare plugin. best i’ve ever seen.
haahahaha, terrific.
Just a question MR. KMR, Does Optical flares plug-in work on PC and Mac?
Is it me or did he just pop open a pepsi can! Anyone?
Haha, my wife dropped our baby when she saw the Pepsi
not really but a very great show today, I think this was much needed after a lot of criticism due to the last post on optical flares in which I regress my last post, I know that I am coming around after seeing what optical flares can do and how professional of a job you are doing on the user interface as well as the end product. In the end if you can sell people on how great it is I don’t see my boss not approving purchases such as these. Okay I am rambling too now, good show!
THANK YOU SOO MUCH FOR ALL YOUR TUTORIALS. THEY RELY HELPED ME OUT A LOT.
Nice!!
I’m an Eagle Scout, lol and i just got my cinematography merit badge (finally). I appreciate the uniform. haha
I love the show!
- Blake
So, are you adopting that new iFrame format now? I was kinda disapointed to see yet another format pop up BUT if you say it’s worthwhile, then it is. Just curious to have your views on it.
Nice work AK,
Nic.
hahaha the pepsi
How about calling the video show the Video Copilot “Mission Briefing”, to stay in theme with the whole “copilot” thing? Just an idea.
Thanks for all you add to the community!
Very cool the Intro men…
Very good!!!
Hehehe, nice work there mate
I’m soooooo getting “Optical Lens Flare” when it comes out!
And the AE TUTORIAL was awesome!
Haha nice! Don’t be expecting anything from coke now lol
Love the coca cola (pepsi) Plug. lol! Awsome. Can’t wait for the flares.
Great episode! I like that it’s a little bit of everything quick tips, mini tutorials, updates, rambling. I don’t mind the length(that means more content!)
Thank you so much Andrew and Staff for creating such a great website for us. Along with the full length tutorials, great products and the other miscellaneous things on the blog, this site has become THE go to place for After Effects users. You have taught me so much in the 30+ tutorials I’ve watched here and I am very appreciative. Keep up the good work.
Holy Sith! This plug-in will be asskickingly awesome!!!!
Crap Kramer, I really wasn’t planning on spending $140 dollars on a new preset, but you make it impossible not too. That interface was ridiculous, and now I totally see now how your practically giving it away for that price. Unfortunatly I will be buying it:)
Did anyone else notice that the save name of his graph project was named giraffes? lol
Awesome!!!! How did you make that plugin??
OMG ROFL!!! Dude, that bears bit… CRACKED ME UP!!
andrew it’s great to learn new things from you every day mate…i have got to say you have shown me the whole new world in a design aspect….i really respect you mate…keep up the fantastic work man….
regards
Excellent show man. This plug-in looks incredible. You really do a great job with this stuff. Can’t wait to see more!!
Kramer you big tease, makin my credit card finger itchy you are.

Andrew, you guys should code your “own” after effects and i promise you gonna pwn adobe
Kramer.. u’re always appreciated.
I think KNOLL is shaking in their little space boots, after seeing your flare plugin!
It looks absolutely amazing!
Credit card in hand, waiting for shipping date!!
Haha, loved that subliminal Twitch ad there
I can’t wait to see all the stuff you can do with optical flares
Nice one with the sponsor Andrew
You’re not related to the Jigsaw Killer in the Saw movies are you? His surname is Kramer too… hmmm
hello there mr KMR … is It work with mac ?
Very nice
Thanks Andrew
Great job
Greetings from Pakistan
Another great video – Optical Flares looks like a great product! Ive read all of the comments on this page so far, and Im suprised nobody picked up on the Predator 2 Gary Busey line in the title!
Keep up the good work!
All the best.
Dude, That Was Sooo Cool!
Can’t wait for the actual plugin!
HAve a nice drink.
HAHA
Andrew i think you and your team made the first lens flare plug in where you can make a ”matte” for lens flares to realistic hide behind objects. a flare will also become smaller when its behind a human or an object. and from what i know no plug does this.
i was afraid that this one wouldnt have this. so it was a big suprise. i think you and you r team worked so hard on this that you have no idea how good it looks. i am serious here.
i used the lens flares from sapphire. but they dont have the ”foreground” function.
Great video, awesome plug in, I like the intro at the first, really cool
, your products are awesome really
I mean it, keep it up.
COOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Andrew you are the best !!!!!!
Great vid Andrew.I dont know why but i have this un-controlable urge to buy the twitch plugin,Hey $45 that Great.
@ Ryan: easy, just 50.000 lines of code
Btw, this is the end for Knoll Light Factory
Hi Kramer I am new to after effects and I really like your work and your tutorials which have helped me a lot.
Could you come up with a tutorial on how to create glass slides like the ones in one of your project files
Andrew,
Thank you, you ‘re great at what you do.
BTW: The interface looks really great. Similar to the one in AE CS4. Your team has done an awesome job on this.
melle (Germany)
What?? Your sponsor is Coca Cola and you are drinking Pepsi?? LOL
I like the ending lol Pepsi
You the man KRAMER!!!
hi andrew, i think the show is a great idea and concept, have you heard of the website revison3, i really think you could increase your viewership if you had your own show on rev3. it would be awesome.
anyway i will be buying Opitical lense for sure
The Optical Flares are really cool!!!
And your “show” is getting better…
INCREDIBLE !!!
Very Nice !
Here from Algeria
Is you who code the plug in ???
Oh my god!
I just clicked the title of this blog update is a Wizard of OZ reference..
Lions & Tigers & bears, oh my….
Was Sam the Scarecrow?
lol
I am so stoked on your new plugin. Good Bye Knoll Light Factory, hello Optical Flares. You guys are frickin great, that plugin looks boss for lens flares.
After having seen this I seriously think the plug in is underpriced.
I wonder, how long did it take your programmers to write it?
I just can’t bear this new format.
Andrew you are the best, Thanks Coca-Cola and open a Pepsi
I love you
Dana
This is really good !
Regards,
Norway

Video Copilot for life!
Wow, the Optical Flares plugin looks beautiful – both the resulting flares, and the interface! I think you’ve just set a new benchmark for plugin interfaces!
Excellent work Andrew & team – look forward to buying & using it!
Phil
Awsome video as always. Just one question, will Optical flares work on Macs or on just PCs?
I had a feeling your sarcastic humor would be lost on the world audience…but I get it! That’s because we are a bunch of smart arses on this side of the coast (East). lol Coke sponser….Pepsi product…you are too funny! The video blog is going well. That plug-in looks very professional, wow you have been busy!
Keep up the good work and come back and visit us at AENY next spring.
Would be cool if you could make some punch sound FX!
Mby Action Sound FX could make a nice product
I was wondering about the mic and the “pop” filter. So I check on B&H and I found some similar looking hardware. The mic is a Neumann and the “pop” filter is “Blue The pop” filter.
Here the links:
Mic: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/598254-REG/Neumann_TLM_103_D_TLM_103D_Digital_Large_Diaphragm.html

@Andrew, is it right?
That bare bear story had me laughing! And I wasn’t sure at the end with the sponsorship until you popped the can, AWESOME!
Hope we see you next time!
Greetings from Germany
Awesome work!!!
Hope the lens effects interface is working on mac too
i have a question…
After watching the video in this post, I noticed that the “pop out” window was a Windows version (since you work primarily in Windows).
I would assume it does, but does the “Options” tab with the interface also work for Macs as well?
Thanks!
Man, that lens flare plugin looks sweet!
Very nice, Andrew……………………………….Very nice.
Optical Flaresâ€â€Kudos! Giving us an interface like this really shows forward thinking and I’m thinking this will set a new standard for creating plug-ins for AE.
Keep it up man!
Keep it up…
