Honestly, I think you should embed a vimeo video for HD viewing. Personally I don’t like having to wait for another window to open and load. Plus, I just played the sample you posted and it went full screen automatically with no player options. It looked great don’t get me wrong, but I like to have some options when watching content.

If you’re a PLUS member at vimeo, you have all sorts of privacy and HD embed options too, in case you were not wanting people to copy or use the video on other sites.

@Bones: just download the video and watch it in your normal player, only takes a second. watching it in vimeo would be no good for analysing it in detail, frame by frame, full quality etc. plus it would likely take much longer to post if it’s anything like youtube having to wait for the processing etc.

Answer: I like watching sample videos in HD with VLC, or Quicktime, or anything else.
If you asked for technical aspect : 1280×720, is a good way to have not so much time do download,
Codec H.264 is sometimes in trouble with Contrast/Lightness,
Mpeg4 is maybe the best way
However, according to me, it’s allways a great pleasure to download one of your new video sample on videocopilot.net

Hey Andrew, regarding to the HD version, I love HD video on the web so keep it that way. One downside is that I cannot play it on my iPhone! Are there any changes to the website in the pipeline to make the site more accesible for mobile devices? I would love sitting in the train and viewing some tutorials!

I want this as a screensaver. Hahaha. Loving the HD sample, except that I can’t see the player controls any more, and I do tend to like watching those ten times or so. I think someone mentioned embedded player controls, and I’ll second that motion.

I like the vimeo idea as well. Im on vista as well, and i lose the controls for quicktime as well. Cant seem to get it to work. Thats just me.

But a great effect, would love seeing a tutorial about that. Coule open the doors to some great organic looking effects….Portals, all kinds of space stuff. Magic type effects for maybe scifi and fantasy movies…..

Great-looking tentacles…..as for the HD question, I like the look and feel of HD, but when it opened, I had to expand my window to see the player controls. Other than that, I liked seeing the HD version.

As for the question at hand, I love watching 720P videos online. Seeing as how I work on a 17″ HD MacBook Pro and my Mac Pro with 2 24″ HD monitors, I have large browser screens so HD looks great on my end.

I have the first Action Movie Essentials, Evolution, Designer Sound FX, The Bullet, Riot Gear and The Series One DVD and with all the cool tutorials I have the ability to make a really cool action short movie, the only thing left would be the energy ball, I’m even about to buy the 2K ACTION ESSENTIALS 2, I’m shooting on the DVX 100A 24p with the Letus Adapter and I’m cutting on a PC Vista using Sony Vegas Pro 9 so i’m hoping that everything I have is going to work with the 2K since its not an HD camera and I’m hoping that my computer can run the 2K footage

Watching HD wideo, as doing tutorial for HD project, is realy good.
The DV standard has to disapear soon, at less of the main professional media (television, cinema…).
If we wanted to look professional, we just have to do HD
And inf fact, the HDcam are now not very expensive. Canon HV30 costs just 750$. And it’s not the first price.

HD Rocks!! I’m all for it… I know there are so slowbies out there with either slow PCs or slow internet connection. But HD gives you so much more detail. I guess the only way to satisfy the masses is by giving HD and SD options.

I prefer low res samples so I can check ‘em out faster and easier (don’t wanna have to maximize my browser xD)

I admit i don’t really like Vimeo. Not that it’s bad, but I prefer quicktime HD files, so i can download them and watch it whenever i want, even if i don’t have a decent internet connection.

HD Video is fine by me – I just wait for it to download then watch it in the player of my choice (QT/WMP/VLC – whatever) As for the suggestions of Vimeo – no thank you. That just adds another opportunity for a bottleneck.

@wick, I beg to differ. Maybe for your connection it may load slow, but the second I click on a HD link, it takes only a few seconds to fully load. I can open up a 1080p trailer from Apple in about 30 seconds. It all depends on how fast your ISP is

On my 1080p monitor, this looks like a high-resolution-small-movie.
It’s great!

If you mess with the blur instead of Depth of Field, it could look like a cool smoky particle, even if blurred a little bit outside of the inner circle. I haven’t messed with the effects you’re talking about, but if the strings hung low you could make it look like a jelly fish!
…if only we could make a Marlin and Dory fish to rush through a bunch of these….

In regard to the question; “How do you like watching sample videos in HD?” i can only imagine that you are refering to Silverlight 3? It beats the crap out of flash, but that might only be on longer clips where massive buffering is required. (If you are interested, read up on silverlight 3 here; http://silverlight.net/getstarted/silverlight3/default.aspx) – no doubt this will put flash to sleep within a relative short time. However IMO just for short clips QT HD works fine by me – keep it up Andrew

The HD QT is nice for visual reference. The energy ball would be perfect for my film. One character uses and energy ball or firball that she blasts at another character in one fight scene.

Furthermore, most of the movie takes place at night, and te surface lighting is something i need to do for green screen driving. I keyed, compsited everything added wiggle to actors…used the reflections plates for glass; however, lighting that effects the actors inside the vehicle as they pass by objects would be cool.
