Sweet Action 2K Box & Info

The 2K version of Action Essentials 2 (above) will consist of 4 DVDs in 2 dual-DVD cases, while the 720p version will be on 2 DVDs inside a single Dual case. Needless to say, both versions are packed to the max. There is over an hour of tutorials, including one based on the street explosion from a couple days ago.

Now if I can just finish this promo video…

Action Essentials 2 will be available in 2 Versions:
720p High Definition [1280 x 720] $99.95
2K Film Resolution [2048 x 1152 ] $249.95 (beyond 1080p)

UPDATE: Someone asked if they could see a list of the elements. Sure.
Here it is.

Hey Andrew cant wait till this is out!
Just wondering if it will be a part of the '10 Pack Favourites' bundle and if so, how much extra will it be for the 2K version of AE2?
Dan
June 24th, 2009 @ 4:15 am
720p I believe will be more than enough for me, but I am tempted to get the 2k version.

In any case, finish that promo so I can hit buy after watching it itensively!

Just great Andrew , hope that i can buy it soon.
June 24th, 2009 @ 4:23 am
A 10 Pack bundle may be the only bundle we DO offer that includes Action Essentials 2.

The action 'movie' is something we are still working on but we will be releasing parts of it after the product launch. Our time quickly depleted when we started finalizing the DVD... it's still gone :)
June 24th, 2009 @ 4:24 am
will the shipping costs be the same after the first month.
June 24th, 2009 @ 4:24 am
Yes, the shipping costs will still be the same.
Jason
June 24th, 2009 @ 4:25 am
If we buy the 720p version and later need the higher resolution, can we upgrade for the difference in cost?

All those sleepless nights!!

That list looks overoutstanding.

June 24th, 2009 @ 5:50 am
I'm so getting the 720p version the MINUTE it comes out!
Dave Vegas
June 24th, 2009 @ 5:54 am
For Full HD 1920x1080 footage the 720p version is good right?

Or is there any need to get the 2K?

Maybe I get next year a 2 or 3K camera so :P

Very sweet elements!!! Stay juicy Kramer!
June 24th, 2009 @ 9:35 am

Awesome-d00d-plz?,

The elements themselves can be adjusted however you need them to. You can always go backwards in quality. Same with the frame rate. My crappy camera inspires me to spend more time on my cg and effect work which is really learning the hard way, and in my opinion the right way.

Remember adjustment layers are your friend! And utilize P.E.R.F.E.C.T!

And if nothing else, who cares how crappy your video quality is when your cg intros are ridiculously cool!

Mr. Kramer, will video copilot hosts a BIGFIRE sale for the 1st generation products?
June 24th, 2009 @ 12:14 pm
Wow! That is an awesome list. I look forward to seeing the demo video.

After seeing the list of the live action blood squirts, hits, splatters, and bursts I found myself very concerned for Sam. Is he okay? Did you space out your shooting schedule in a way that his body would be able to replenish the blood?

From Demon Face to getting hit by a car, Sam is a trooper. You should bake him a cake.

You do a great job with your products. I see them all over TV. Canada definitely loves Video Copilot.

Thanks

Did you guys ever consider selling specific sections if people only wanted certain elements? Like for $20, I could buy only the blood or only the fireballs.

I think that'd be pretty cool.

June 24th, 2009 @ 5:34 pm
Dude!
This looks awesome. I am definitely in. Especially after reading the list.

In another post, did you say you would offer free shipping the first month? If so, does that include this in a combo pack?

(I still need to pick up pro scores)

Hopefully it gets released soon so I can take it on my trip to Iceland on the 3rd. Also if you need any "Icelandic textures" just let me know. I can take some close ups of lava rock, wild flowers, hot babes, etc. ;)

Thanks,

June 24th, 2009 @ 6:23 pm
Andrew,

How do you make the DVD Cases and Covers?

Templates..? Do you have the template and a nutshell explanation of the Action Essentials Box (Like you show in the Angry Monster tut with the "Aim Away From Face" example. The case is laid out flat. Im not to fluent with Photoshop, but do you is that basically 3 essential layers and you just use perspective to box it up?
June 24th, 2009 @ 6:24 pm
I just feel the need to mention that some people who are looking to buy the 2K version don't really need to.

If you have a regular HD camera, 720 is enough.
I'm sure these effects scale up nicely if it's needed.
Casey
June 24th, 2009 @ 6:57 pm
To Orhan,

I thought of that also but I'd rather the option to scale down and keep resolution than to scale up and to lose quality.

Good point though.

Andrew went to the Jim Jannard School of Marketing. ;)

BTW, that's a compliment.
June 24th, 2009 @ 7:10 pm
Chad, I didn't really get your joke.

All I'm saying is that the supposed "loss of quality" isn't noticable if you scale up, but that would almost never be the case.

It would make more sense to buy the 2K version if you had a RED.
June 24th, 2009 @ 8:20 pm
Andrew:

I guess I've been coming to the site for over a year now. I simply wanted to come out of the woodwork and post a thank you. Thank you for the time you put into the tutorials. They are fantastic.

Incidentally, I just received Pro Scores, Evolution, and Sound FX in the mail today. They look great!

Can't wait, definitely buying this as soon as I have 100 bucks to spare. Thanks for all the knowledge you share Andrew, hope you get rich off this.
However
June 24th, 2009 @ 10:34 pm
you are discontinuing action movie essencials??? WHY?? it has so much nice stuff in it...like i actually cant imagine this one being better than the first one, i only think this new one is in HD...but you put alot of work into the old one...comon dont cut it out!!!
June 24th, 2009 @ 10:41 pm
:) Well we definitely put a real budget into this product and the better part of the last 6 months. It took over a dozen guys to accomplish all of the effects not to mention the post work we did. The success of this product will certainly lead of other high-quality collections at great prices.

I hate to sound self-serving but one of the keystones of Video Copilot besides all of the free stuff, is providing great tools in the $100 range. When I first started $100 in the professional world of software and tools couldn't get you much. Even now it is tough to find quality stuff that is affordable. But, being able to keep that price point in place is hard coded into all our future plans.

the new collection of elements sound amazing and the package looks SICK. great work as usual to the whole VCP Team
June 24th, 2009 @ 11:02 pm
Thanks for all you do for us and keeping those prices affordable ofr the mere mortals!
June 24th, 2009 @ 11:04 pm
Caceling the first one? is there a reason to kill it? just wondering if there is no real need to have #1 if you get #2?
June 24th, 2009 @ 11:13 pm
"When I first started $100 in the professional world of software and tools couldn’t get you much. Even now it is tough to find quality stuff that is affordable."

I couldn't agree more. You guys put out nothing but great products too. I've bought the Riot Gear and Video Streams products and think they are great. I'm just glad that people like you allow broke college kids like me the chance to purchase these kinds of tools...

Casey
June 25th, 2009 @ 12:01 am
To Orhan,

Mate I meant no disrespect. I was just under the impression that having the 2K version would be more of a benefit in case I had to do a lot of manipulating.

:D Peace

This action essentials is sooo awsome.
I mean 500 elements for only 100 dollars this prize is so fair it's not even funny. But I live in Iceland so the exchange rate is so bad for Iceland that this stuff is like 40% more expensive for me ..
and I don't have a credit card so I don't think I can buy this .. but maaan you are awsome =D

I am about to ask the strangest question you will likely ever receive, but do you happen to have a clergy discount. LOL... I know strange question. What kind of minister would be looking for explosions, breaking glass, blood splatters, muzzle flashes, fire, smoke, and dust? Well this one is. Out of necessity I became the resident AE guy at the church, self taught mostly from Video Copilot. We have used movie making as a tool to work with the young people in the community. We have promoted and held 2 junior short film festivals. They were so well received that I am starting a rudimentary summer workshop to introduce some of the kids to AE. Action Essentials 2 would be one heck of a tool to help with our program. I am sure you have never had the need to give a clergy discount any thought before, but I just thought I would ask anyway.

Hey Andrew,
Just out of curiosity, what does the "car_explosion" footage look like? You don't have to show it to us but maybe describe it a little? I'm planning on editing a car explosion scene (cuz come one... that's just pure awesome right there) and was wondering just how much easier this would make my life.

Thanks.

Btw, Lucas, I think there's a few sound effects in AE2, but for more, there's actually some websites you can go to that give royalty free sound effects.. might be a good place to start (I found a lot of great ambient noises and even gun sound effects on websites like that).

My only worry is regarding the length of each footage. Example: If you want to do a burning fire for, 30 seconds or so. If you have a quick fire footage you won't be able to accomplish that.
