Video Blog? Yes!

We’re already working on a half-dozen new things but hey, what’s one more? If you have a pocket full of pens, you can always fit one more : )

Without using anymore misguided metaphors, we are indeed developing a video blog that will be used to share ideas and concepts straight from the Video Copilot team. This includes behind the scenes videos, production tips and even bar-b-que recipes. We have some great ideas for the show and we hope you guys will tune in.

The first episode should be online before we launch Action Essentials 2!

May 17th, 2009 @ 2:50 pm

May 17th, 2009 @ 4:21 pm
Awesome, I can only imagine how many cheesy jokes, great tips, fun facts etc etc there will be on this show!

VideoCopilot, the ony site that hosts easy and fun tutorials, easy to follow! I owe a lot of my AE skills to Andrew! (Like many other amateurs AND pro's)

I hope there will be more 3d Special FX tutorials will be up. 3d tracking is a lot easier than I initially thought and its so fun!

Thanks VC Team!
May 17th, 2009 @ 4:24 pm

May 17th, 2009 @ 4:27 pm
Usually I never comment on blogs, but this....sounds awesome.
May 17th, 2009 @ 4:54 pm
That sounds great. I got kind of disappointed after I purchased Series One, I thought there would be some behind the scenes and a bit more of an serious interview.
May 17th, 2009 @ 4:55 pm
I was wondering if You and the VC team are going to bundle the tutorials again when you reach tutorial 100? I bought the first set (they are overwhelmingly awesome to have by the way If you do not already own them) and I hope to have all one hundred for when Internet Access is down or is down for maintenance.

Andrew you really are a great blessing to me and my company. I incorporate a lot of your teachings from VC into my motion graphics projects and purchase your teams tools specifically trying to push the envelope in church media production.

Thank you Andrew, the VC team, and your families. Without them you could not do what you do best.
May 17th, 2009 @ 5:11 pm
i Hope in the first tutorial you guys make a "Making of: Action Essentails HD" Edition...

Okay but only if you can bundle the combined wit of your entire team into one action-packed show will I watch...alright, maybe that's not possible, I'll settle for a 1/10th the wit and humor. Can't wait to see the first epi. :) Give us some warning so we can relay the message to all of our "in-dark-late-night-editing-compositing" brethren. Looking forward to it.

Andrew, that's just great news - I'm looking forward to it!
But to the guys who are looking to make Video Copilot into some sort of myspace crap, I have to say: VCP is all about quality!
Public blogging services are certainly not.
So I'd say you should better put that idea right out of your minds, because that is certainly not what we expect from and love about Video Copilot. ;)

Keep up the high quality of your page and products and rock on - you're doing a great job!
May 18th, 2009 @ 2:04 am
Awesome man , there will be so much fun.

May 18th, 2009 @ 5:14 am

a video blog basically like a blog with videos instead of text and images (such as this blog).

Hey Andrew! Last year I convinced my School's TV studio to purchase Riot Gear and Designer Sound FX, but...

I have always wondered how you set up and created the live action stock footage such as the ink effects and explosions. I think this info would be great for either the video blog or maybe a product? Its never a bad thing to make a profit :)

As a college film/special effects student, this kind of product would be amazing. THANKS!

Keep on keepin on.
May 18th, 2009 @ 10:35 am
I'll be expecting a lot of tehniques and tips on how to prepare for shots, and how to shoot during production so there is no need to reshoot during post.

Sounds good though. Hopefully by saying the Video Blog will be running before AE2, that AE2 is not far off. Another 1 1/2 weeks and it's May.

P.S. Tranformers 2 NEXT MONTH!!!!!!!!!! WOOT
May 18th, 2009 @ 10:43 am

May 18th, 2009 @ 1:29 pm
Wow, when do you ever sleep? This is a really awesome idea, but after this and AE2 you should really take a break. Not that most of us know you, but working on a mega-budget feature, a television show, AE2, this site, having a kid running around, and all the other stuff that we don't know about. That has to completely nuts! Can't for AE2, I have a 100 bucks with your name on it as soon as you release it.

This is a really good idea. Digital Juice used to make some great resources like this also:

I'd love to see soemthing similar in the context of creating SFX for Screen using Adobe Production Premium & 3ds Max.

P.S...saw Star Trek today...the titles were subtle but grand.

This sounds great, now I don't have to come up with something like that. I'll just point everyone to this site. I enjoy everything the team comes up with. I sometimes wish I lived on the west coast again so I can actually offer my services.

You have come a long way since the strictly creative cow days. I've been with you the entire time.

May 20th, 2009 @ 11:49 am
Better late than never! I will post in this entry as I could in any other:

I want to give a big hug to everybody in your team, and in first place to Mr. Andrew Kramer. I've been studying graphic design for three years and I've learned far more of aftereffects, VFX & motion graphics in your site (that actually for me is more an school than a site!) than in my school. Now I'm working in the videogames industry, and I'm receiving offers for working in TV/Comercials. And a big part of this has been possible thanks to you and your inspiring work & philosophy. Thank you!

Video blogs are great, we call them vidcasts at our company. The viewers love them, and it puts a nice face to the name. Make them simple, at first, and really test the audio. We found more viewers were bothered by poor audio than sketchy video! Good luck.
