andrew nice thanks for thinking in us!
oooo sounds cool
Very cool Andrew, pretty cool letting your followers come up with awesome plug-ins
it would be helpful to have an easier way to express the twitch value as raw numbers; is that possible?
So that you could basically direct another effect’s value expression to the twitch amounts directly.
hi andrew i think that is nice i come from germany an make party at karneval and i love your tutorials you made it thank you for all see you next tutorial bye Chris
From the beginning i wanted to see function that just randomly twitches a Slider, so you can link it to any effect, right now i use light and maltannon’s pixelsampler toold like said in one of the tutorials, but build in would be much easier
Take care
I think that the plugin is great, but it could maybe use some more presets.
more presets
I honestly haven’t gotten around to playing with twitch yet, so forgive me if this is already possible, but how about twitching around time, but with time still progressing along. Kind of like in the “saw” films, where say, someone is being killed and as the guy is thinking about trying to save them, its jittering and looping and such
I think you pretty much have everything covered with twitch. I’m sure you could come up with some clever additions. I’m still waiting for a plugin that creates all my work for me with the click of the mouse, although you are pretty close to it with suretarget.
hum…it is a very nice plugin, the only thing I would add (and not sure if you will get what i mean) is that there could be an X-Ray option, like when the light tweaks, you could see lines in popel´s edges and in “strong” or “colorful” points of people…i dunno.
Different types of blurs would be cool and maybe some distortion effects would be interesting. Twitch is already my favorite plug-in and fairly cheap for the unique possibilities it provides.
I think Twitch is an awesome plug in, I love that randomness and chaos. What I would love to see for AE is a plug in that is kinda like Fluid Mask for Photoshop that detects edges and gives you the ability to isolate an object and save a whole lot of time rotoscoping or chroma keying.I think this should be possible through motion detection and color analysis. I’m not sure how far technology is to this point to create such a plug in but if it excists it would be the best thing ever. I think some pre-animated templates for Twitch would be cool, in combination with SureTarget in 3D space including positioning of the camera. Like for instance having a bunch of monitors in 3D space randomly and then one by one coming at you and show their content.I’m thinking of making such a thing for my showreel.
Will the updated version be free for people who already have it, or will there be a price to upgrade?
…when it comes out, that is
Umm the twitch now is okay. I love the preset and everything about it.
rite i use twitch quite alot and am just throwin ideas out here. Some of these ideas may allready be possible and i just havent thought about it enough
1) freeze twitch button with a slider for ajustable ammount of twitch applyed to the freeze. So a quicker way of freezing a twitch style without puttin it in a comp etc and a way of ajusting how much is applyed to that frozen moment
2) Prehaps a Twitch speed adition, so basicaly a time remap that is random (things speed up and down in a twitch fashion)
3) Twitch distortion, something like a twitch version of turblance dispace or some other distortion effect would be cool for shape layers warping in and out or something
4) Twitch layers, if there is mutiple layers of footage you want to flick between them without having to do some snazzy editing
5) Twitch audio, dunno just thinking why should the idea of twitch just be applyed to immages?
I second a single slider for connecting any effect…. Is extremely to do already.. but to have it with a plug I’m already using would be great.
Titchhhh vol.2 – that sounds great I think there’s a lot more to to learn about this wonderful plug and also the ideas Andrew has been coming up with and the great tutorials this year I think this Twitch project could be eye catching.
Twitch would be nice if it had a preset that would look like a shaky camera man. All the included presets aren’t quite jerky or smooth or natural for a bad camera man. I have tried fiddling with the sliders but I just can’t get it right.
Great! I got twitch only because i thought I could somehow twitch time also! so that would infact be a really cool feature (where it samples frames randomly from different places in the clip… kinda like in the Grudge)
but ey… I like that u guys care about ur “old” releases!
I love your work!
I was thinking maybe an effect that makes people look like they’re moving sharply. Like the effect is RIhanna’s Disturbia music video.
That would be so cool
Itd be really nice to have a simple way to link the twitches to sound
My request has more to do with AE as a whole program, not just the twitch plugin. What I would love to see is when you play back a composition that any fx’s parameters that you have animated with show the values changing as the animation plays out. That way if something is acting weird it’s easier to see it than just looking at the graph editor.
It works great, so I can’t think of anything new I would add to it, other than more preset settings…as if there weren’t enough already????…LOL. I think Twitch can be left alone for a while. It’s great, and it would be hard to think of new things which would require a big update for.
Less seizure giving would be nice. :]
twitch audio
more presets
The ability to twitch between effects on and off for the layer would be nice (via something like cc-composite, with blend modes and stuff) So basically twitch will be able to twitch any layers of adjustments before twitch on and off.
In my opinion, that would make twitch completely customizable, and allow for more complex things like colour correction that would be too clunky to include in the plugin itself.
scrubbing through the comments, it seems that all my requests have been mentioned.. I’ll just second them:
- twitching audi with the “time twitch”
- a way to track the twitching of the different elements [blur, glow, slide.. etc] and link it to other effects.. also an independent twitching slider(s) to be linked as well..
To response to what Tom wrote. If you make a Twitch Audio, please make it for more then the adobe sweet… perhaps pro-tools??
and as for Visual… perhaps a 3D twitch which permits to propel on x,y,Z axis? With value sliders….
Love the work.
Distortion via twitch would be cool. It would make a jumpscar effect like from the film jumper pretty easy.
Probably more presets?
It is amazing on it’s own anyway!
Something like from Knoll Light Factory to be added would be cool.
Make it free? haha jk I know you guys need the cash…well don’t we all..
anyway I got nothing
Being busy all the time, I don’t get to play around with Twitch as much as I’d like. I pretty much stay close to some of the presets…. so…
More presets
And a nifty new gallery to preview the effects
You guys have been lighting up the airwaves this week. Must be the digital TV transition, huh?
Thanks for all the new stuff!
a rotation twitch?
that’s the only thing it doesn’t have that I can think of…
i like toms ideas
lol
I mostly use twitch for text, so I would like somthin that is like the beging of the transformers preivews
Definitely some speed ramping as Tom suggested. Such an effect is seen in The Ring when the girl crawls out of the TV…
3 Dimensional aspects would be nice, i.e. zoom on Z Axis. Revised Time twitch and remapping ramping would be cool, random freeze frame, and hold frame capabilites. Anything that makes it easier to link to audio
would be cool. More tutorials on more ways to use it. Digital and analog artifacting would be cool.
nice…
There is this other cool effect that they did on T-Pain’s Chopped nd Skrewed which I think its one of the best music videos ever…
link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ik-QsIKFGAo
Its the glitch like sort of twitchy effect…wait..
Its actually on the intro the video…and also can you please check it out and see if theres anything nice from the video you’d perhaps like to share…
waw, i think twitch is awesome, i love the preset, i created some cool effects with twitch
and i would love to share this short film i made on youtube
ihope andrew kramer, and all the other users see it.
this plugin is very awesome thanx.
here is the video
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O0IqzT_ntl4
I second the Twitch Slider that can be used for any effect.
Then I’d like to twitch my Camera in 3D.
the bourne altimatum flash back with out all the duplicating and changing values and stuff ,just drop and here you go bourne presets with changable colors.
More presets and more options to freeze the effect at any point but allow the footage to play..maybe mixing presets too.
I would like some impact twitches, for a quick way of distorting the image whilst creating camera shakes..that could be very helpfull.
if possible – would be cool if you can build in and automatic audio twitcher. like in trapcode form.
you choose an audiofile and then it twiches to the music automaticly, how strong depending on which strenght you typed in…
but also the other comments are great.
greets from germany
Marcus
It would nice to be able to create more Fades, Blurs, whatever between scenes…
But not the cool, crazy way Twich is normally working but something more elegant, expensive…
and of course 5.000.000.000 more prestes
Twitch rocks…
“hi im andrew kramer and welcome to another VERY exciting tutorial by videocopilot…”
i just love that
I love Twitch, Do you watch Heroes? Well right now Sylar has the power to tell if someone it lying, when someone lies there is this cool sound effect and the screen shakes really cool and creepily, I think a preset to do those 6th sense things would be really cool.
Like most updates, something free in this economy would be a great start. Here is my list, but what do I know?
Twitch camera/null
Twitch audio
Twitch rotation of layers
Twitch zoom
Stutter preset
As a bonus, it would be great if it could twitch my boss and coworkers!
twitch audio, so it can be perfectly implemented in resolume (vj program)
more presets
What about twitching an adjustment layer on and off as well as the other stuff.
Hey Andrew, how about twitching some noise? It could be color or tv static kind of noise. Think Princess Leia to Obi Wan hologram style.
Well a lot of what I’ve read people mention can be done easily with the wiggle expression and a slider but if you’re going to make an update you need to have some good, note worthy stuff or else why bother? This will take some time and consideration. We the people will let you know.
All hail VC-Kramer!
jd
twitch opacity?
- A way to stop twitching, like twitch, freeze(with the effect) and twitch again
- A little more accuracy to controll it
Im agree with “illd”
A way to stop twitching, like twitch, freeze(with the effect) and twitch again !!! its cool effect
it should be able to cook spaghetti.
I feel like everything people are suggesting besides “more presets” you can already do…
I honestly have only played around with TWITCH a few days and havent gone back to it…but i think it’s fine just the way it is…everything is simple to understand and is organized just fine…
The only thing I can think of is something else to TWITCH…but I have no idea what that would be…haha
It is a great Product…
Make twitch able to twitch the z position, so you can create a look simmilair to somebody shaking a camera making things go out of focus etc. (Not 100% sure if it isn’t possible now, if so nevermind this comment
)
Also the idea of a slider is just awesome, the ability to “twitch” other effects would be awesome.
how about a random pixel effect. You know like in CLOVERFIELD…when the camera glitches for a sec and there are all these random pixel squares on the screen obscuring the image.
I would like to see an ability to Twitch a clip from another file into that footage. Almost like a rough scattered memory. A split second of “What was that?” kind of think, where that footage actually twitches IN the footage you’re working with.
time remapping made easy?? can you believe theres someone here using the online translater to comment?? i believe it.
Oh, I have an idea.
What if you had it twitch different layers.
WHat I mean, is like, in the Bourne series, you know how the video would begin to flash between what was really happening, and what had happened in the past? You could have it do that.
Have it flicker between different layers.
A good idea for your nexr plug-ins is the one you made recently called “Fall-off and Sure target” if you put it all together as plugin, definitely, I will buy it. Especially adding more features of course then that would be awesome. I always thought, that is the next your next plugin. Can’t wait if you do. Thanks andrew!
I love the fact that you’re doing this…
my suggestion is a twitch that looks like bad TV interlace lines and pixelation. not necessarily a sliding thing but more like a picture fizzling out and randomly pixelating.
another cool feature would be a way to link the liquify or any other distortion plugin to twitch and make the distortion twitch on and off in a super jarring way.
there’s my two cents
it needs a noise option .
cool
Twitch is awesome! Like another poster said i haven’t had time to fully play with twitch so if you can do this already i would love to know how to do it…
Have the twitch stay up in longer intervals, instead of not controlling how long the twitch lasts… i know obviously twitch is meant to twitch, but a way to hold that twitch just a couple milliseconds longer would be nice. Sort of like if you’re twitch a video in and you need the image up just long enough….. i don’t know, does any of this makes sense???
Anyways superb work on everything you do!
Wow. there are lots of great ideas. I am still using CS2 and Twitch doesn’t quite work for Premiere CS2. It Twitches but it’s out of control… not usable.
I find myself using the transitions the most. Could there be more transitions added?
It would be pretty cool if there was a competition, or something like that, for people to submit there own presets for Twitch. the winners get a pat on the back and warm fuzzies knowing that they named the preset. This may be a good idea for building the hype for launching an update. Or even a good idea for an entirely new product.
thanks for the opportunity to give suggestions.
how about a noise feature for twitch?
that would be handy
dan
Need to be able to affect the generation, rate, type and maybe the motion of particles in different effects. would be awesome
I would like a function very similar to the time twitch.
Except it doesn’t apply to the entire frame, only some parts of it (defined by randomly placed squares and rectangles).
This way you’re able to get the distorted video effect, like if the camera took a hit or something.
Otherwise it’s pretty much packed with everything already.
Shatter in twitch
I have seen similar requests already, but essentially I would like to link a Twitchy output to any other effect. I found a workaround that actually works already. You have one black solid on which you apply Twitch and then you get it to twitch to white. Then you use the Pixelsampler and map the lightness of the pixel to any other effect. It is a tedious workaround though….
Hi All!
I don’t know if anyone has already requested it, but I wanted to know if there’s going to be a Twitch release for Final Cut Pro and Motion?… It would be very useful! You can add the effect in FC instead of going back to AE and render all over again.
Thanks!
Here’s some possible Twitch features I thought of or stuff from above that I agree would be awesome:
1.(Color) possibility of gradient colors instead of 1 solid color, along with linear/radial options, scale, angle, and center point of gradient.
2.(Color) Layer Blend Mode options for the color or graient.
3.(Color) individual hue random, saturation random, and lightness random.
4. Add a Glow option with options for random threshold, intensity, radius, colors, etc…
5. Add an Opacity Twitch ( I’ve used twitch on a solid layer used as a track matte for a video layer that I wanted to twitch on and off over some other footage. It’d be great if that was just built in.)
6. A Twitch effect Center Point with radius and falloff so the twitch effects can be localized.
7.(Time) Perhaps when time is twitched there could be a ghosting or echo of the skipped frames?
8.(Time) The ability to create a loose mask around a subject and use that to twitch in time while everything else plays normal. This would probably work well if there was some falloff between the mask selection and the rest, like a localized time warp that blends back to regular time.
9.A Physics Time Factor like Particular. Several peeps mentioned this and it would add a second stage of control after the initial settings are established.
10.Twitch the Audio in the Comp with the Video ( I saw lots of interest in this one too)
11. Raw Twitch Measurements (I saw this one too and think it would really help incorporate twitch across many pre-existing plug-ins and effects)
12. Distortions like fractal fields for footage and twitch effect values( color or blur or glow isn’t the same value across the screen due to field values)
13. Multi-3D Layer control. I think that being able to use an instance of twitch on several 3D layer could come in handy for controlling layers like in your Virtual 3D Photos tut. I saw someone asking about the batman “fear” effect where the different levels were jumping around differently the other day. Having the ability to select 3 or 5 layers to twitch with different random seeds and amounts, and an ability to control the closeness of the random twitch values would give great control to a comp when the background, midground, and foreground are independent of each other.
….uuuhhhh. That’s all I can think of right now. 13. Seems like a lucky place to stop.
You All Rock!
A possibility to twitch blur on R/G/B channels independently would be quite useful.
Keep up the great work.
Hmmm… also… effect strength control via map layers.
Only if there was a Final Cut Pro version of Twitch…
Anyways, I’ll wait for it
~dXm
The only reason i haven’t bought it is because it’s not a Final Cut plugin. If that was possible at all i would eat that stuff up man. I just wouldn’t like having to import each specific file and doing the cool transitions or twitch stuff and then re-import it back into final cut. It would just make the workflow a lot easier.
Hi Andrew, I was playing about with twitch inside of Fusion 5 and I applyed an effect mask on the twitch node with a circle Mask, this makes the effect local to only that portion of the mask , it creates a very interesting effect
Is it possible to bring that into AE or is there a way to achieve that already
if there is kindly show us
Hey I also think the Audio Twitch will be crazy
I’m glad you at least have an update in mind for twitch it’s such a crazy little plugin
I have fair amount of coding knowledge, if i want to write plugins for AE where would be the best place a novice can get some info apart from registering with ASN
Hi,
i am really interested in your work and like the stuff that you are doind.
Maybe it would be good, if there were an AUDIO REACT twitching mode, which allows you to ajust your animation to your audio like it is in “trapcode form”.
Thanks in advance
p.s. QUESTION @ ANDREW:
http://www.vimeo.com/channels/19409#2320852
IS THIS VIDEO AND ESPECIALLY THE GLASS BREAK EFFECT “SINNED” AT 1:18 MADE WITH AE OR WITH ANOTHER,MAYBE an 3D PROG ?
WOULD BE COOL IF YOU COULD RECONSTRUCT THE PARTICLE EFFECT (0:22) AND THE “SINNED” (1:18) EFFECT if its made with after effects.
thank you very very much and greetings from germany
- GsSon
My vote is for two things:
1) Final Cut Pro Plugin. Reality TV would snap this up in every edit suite between here and wherever reality TV is not currently in production. It would simplify the online offline workflow many companies use and open twitch up to editors and not just AE buffs.
2) Twitch Composite modes. I use all of them all the time and to twitch them would be really cool and open up many possibilities.
Good luck.
How about an “Andrew” plug-in? So I could just apply the “Andrew” effect to my footage and… TA-DA!!! everything would look great. 80}
I think it would be great
Wow, almost entire post has beed deleted o_O. So, one more time
In my opinion feature like bluring red/blue/green channel would be nice. I mean not all channels at the same time, but for an example just red channel make blurring in randomly time.
yeah what Tom said
This:
What about a Twitch with some sort of tilt shift focus where it can change focus tilts for 3D layered comps?
huh? huh? Alllllright! ThankS AndreW
ty Andrew
Andrew, I’m just wondering if you have anything special planned for your 100th tutorial…? Maybe something with 100 orbs…?
Hi Andrew: Twitch is great. Maybe Twitch direct on Final Cut would be super great!
New Update For Twitch…Sounds Good!
It would be great if you could make the twitch plugin for sony vegas
I would like it if Twitch’s area of effect and intensity could be driven by a displacement map.
Most things people suggest can already be created.
You guys aren’t thinking hard enough.
Update for twitch, sounds great! Keep up the good work, we all appreciate the effort you guys put to make these great tutorials!
I’m not sure if its already been mentioned but it’d be nice to have an additional checkbox for opacity.
Olauuuuuuuuuuu !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Karnevalllllll !!!!!!!!!
I just realized I am checking videocopilot.net more then my own email.
I don’t understand why people asking for Twitch for Avid and Final Cut Pro when this is an AE Website, but it sure is a compliment to VC.
As far as a request for a new feature I have thought about it… a lot actually…and I.. am gonna think about it some more and get back to you
Oh, and can you make the Twitch have a camera control that can read data from an iphone’s accelerometer. Like motion sketch, but in 3D and the iphone/ipod touch at the input device. That’s all.
I think some people are asking for things that are already possible with Twitch. I like the idea of linking to a layer’s opacity, a lot of what is being requested could be done by this one thing if you link it to an adjustment layer with affects applied to it. Then you could use any effects you wanted.
Thanks!!!
Maybe and easy way to link the twitch distortion to the audio.
Twitch Camera Presets would be good. also some audio/object presets liek the audio to animation thing and some more presets
I’d love to see some sort of bokeh with depth of field ala 3D falloff
Please please please port it to Final Cut Pro!
How about the ability to Twitch the audio? That would be nice!
Also, how about Twitching expressions like, wiggle and time or even Twitching color values?
I agree with Sterlin.
If we could twitch audio (Speed, treble, bass, reverb, etc..) that would be great.
It would make it easier to create the broken record SFX without having to manually time remap.
Rotation please
I’m working with Twitch as we speak and really really need to be able to Twitch some rotation.
Can’t believe nobody mentioned this but how about seperate ease in-out controls for each effect, like your have in the global control.
Also Opacity and time re-mapping are great ideas.
Audio Amplitude would be cool.
Oh yeah, this should be simple. How about being able to twitch just Motion Blur?
Also some sort of streaking blur would be cool.
thanks Amdrew
It would be amazing to be able to designate a frame where the effects are on full boar for transition purposes.
Hey Guys whts up….i’m an Audio Engineer and music producer…. i’ve been doing some video stuff for a while self tutoring myself…since i have quite a good learning sense…and i just bought my HD rigg to shoot my videos n all….i wanted to know i’m very new to ths special effects and animation kinna thing…. so i concider myself as a starter not even bigginer in ths field can i use your plugins…and i don’t understand one thing are these effects or plugins that you can use…with wht do u use it..after effects or these are standalone my concept regarding these libraries aren’t clear so could you please guide me why should i buy ths and how will i be using it….
i just ordered my Mac Pro Quad and Final Cut Studio
have Sony Pmw-Ex1
Ooh! What Josh said – time remapping would be so cool!
For Shezan : Videocopilot is mainly for Adobe After Effect users.
Check out the Videocopilot’s tutorials : After Effects Basic Training
As i just bought Twitch, and watch the tutorials, i didn’t play with it yet, so i can’t say nothing for now. Just thanks for all these amazing tools and tutorials…
I would like a way to automatically feather to 0% opacity for the effect elements along the edges, mostly for application for assets that go to flash based elearning softwares.
Definitely some sort of glitch effects to text like Cloverfield or Transformers trailers. Digital bits, blocks, kind of like Digital Anarchys Damage Set. but I couldnt get that to work how I want it.
I would like to see some Distortion controls.
more presets in fluid perhaps…
BPM twitches option
That would be awsome!
The effect of a film camera turning on and off, the effect that was way over used and abused in the early 90’s, But Tony Scott seems to do it without seeming too retro. An effect that can be recreated with levels and crushing your whites, and using time remap to ramp up the speed, then ramp down coming back in. But to really sell the effect, you would require losing some frames in time moving forward, at the same time blooming to white.
so: Camera start and stop effect. Crushing whites, and time remap forward, and losing frames in between, all adjustable.
would be a time saver
Thanks
Rafael
I would like to see in twitch maybe some sort of handheld camera setting where you can apply twitch to the camera and make feel like you are running with it or walking maybe on different surfaces like walking on rocks, and uneven roads.
Would it be possible so you could link twitch to other effects? like say you made a wave effect and you want twitch just linked to that one wave effect.
Do you make all the presets, give it a name, put it on a CD and sell it in this site.
if yes how do you do the presets.
is there any tutorial about how to use twitch in after effects?
Final Cut Pro and Avid compatible would be awesome!
