Mobile Copilot

There are definitely more interesting things going on around here (can’t say more) but here is some cool news for people with internet phones or within walking distance of Radio Shack. Our web developer Patrick is finishing up a lite version of your favorite video website so you can check us out on the go. We plan on offering some of the shorter (10-20 min) tutorials in a smaller iPod format but mainly it will be a great way to check the blog and possibly forum, if we can sort a few things out first.

I’ll let you know more soon.

I just got a new nokia 5800XM and I was disappointed that the regular tutorials didn’t work in the browser even if flash video is supported.

That’s a great news if we will have the related video mobile version for every tutorial coming.

love it.. how i wish i can have iPOD too.. :P waahahahahah..

February 2nd, 2009 @ 2:01 am

Cool news…was wishing for this.

Could you guys write an application that would list all the Keyboard shortcuts in After effects for the iphone/ ipod touch?

I’m sure that there could be lots of other cool things that you could also do with an application if you wanted to develop it.(framerate calculator/comp settings etc..)

I have been using the RED calculator on some shoots: http://www.isee4k.com/

I’m sure an App like this could be awesome for After effects and you guys could make something funky fresh I’m sure.

February 2nd, 2009 @ 2:21 am

I would also love an Andrew and Sam podcast show, about movies and vfx…Simpsons qoutes and tales from Sam Loya.

I’ve been wanting to check from my iPod touch :) YAY! Thanks, guys!

With Adobe and Apple working together on an iPhone/iPod touch version of Flash, it should make the full site that much more enjoyable, too!

Thanks for everything!

If you posted some of your tutorials in the mp4 format and compressed them to a small size. Then, we who have ipod nanos, could easily put your videos on our ipods! : )

Watching the tutorials on iPod is SUCH a time saver for me! I spend about 4 hours per day in Transit to and from work, so I’m always throwing podcasts and tutorials on my iPod to capitalize on my time and keep learning. I’m all about making efficient use of my time!

Anywho, that’s the reason I bought Series One, because of the iPod files!

Definitely looking forward to getting more awesome learning on the go from THE MAN, AK!

YOU ARE THE FUNNIEST GUY I KNOW!!!! the youtube link and post go so well, am still Laughing!!!!!

Jasper
February 2nd, 2009 @ 11:32 am

I hope they are better quality as youtube on the iphone. And with a iphone you already can watch the site and forums.

We cant however watch the tutorials :( as it doesnt support.. flash I think is needed.

And why only 10-20 minutes during tutorials? 1x 60 min or 3x 20 min is still the same ammount of bandwith, and with the full version we can continue watching on a computer ;)

February 2nd, 2009 @ 6:37 pm

I think we should give Andrew Kramer the nickname AK-47

AK for obvious reasons but the 47? I have no idea why it would correspond to Andrew, but hey, why not try it on for size.

Andrew
February 2nd, 2009 @ 7:08 pm

i can’t wait, i’m going to feel like the little kids on christmas morning when they opened their present of the nintendo 64- youtube it, it’s kinda old but that’s how i’ll feel!

Ryan H.
February 3rd, 2009 @ 6:21 am

This should work on Blackberry’s too right? I’m not doggin’ the Iphone by any means, it’s just my wife didn’t want to switch service providers. So I am hoping I can drop the tuts on my BB Storm. VCP ceases to amaze…Great work!

Adam Sklar
February 3rd, 2009 @ 7:37 am

Amazing AK. ( As always ;) )

But what will the major differences be between the internet, And the lite version?

Tyler
February 3rd, 2009 @ 9:30 am

This is great. I was just thinking of this the other day. I am on my itouch now. This will save me so much time and hassle. Leave it to videocopilot to be on the cutting edge.

February 3rd, 2009 @ 11:23 am

It’s being built with mobile standards so it should work on most mobile devices. (blackberry, iPhones, PSPs should work)

The lite version will have less images and be designed for a small screen so the text is readable without having to zoom in etc.

Dylan
February 3rd, 2009 @ 12:12 pm

you guys should strike up a deal with Microsoft so you guys can put podcasts on the Zune Marketplace for everyone to download to their ZUNE that would be awesome

February 3rd, 2009 @ 12:50 pm

i have an iphone and there is a wifi connection in my hostel. i am already using it to read the blogs and forums in my iphone……

February 3rd, 2009 @ 9:18 pm

Hey Andrew maybe you could send me an iphone so i can try this out?

Rutger
February 4th, 2009 @ 3:27 am

Great idea!

In order for it to work on iPhones though, the format should be .mov or .mp4 unfortunately. I hope you will take this into consideration, because apple products don’t like Flash…

I’m keeping my fingers crossed! Keep it up!

February 4th, 2009 @ 10:12 am

thinking about the AK-47 nickname… 47 is a Prime Number, and AK is a Prime VFX artist! Thanks again for the work you’re doing for us!

Tim
February 4th, 2009 @ 8:23 pm

I just watched the making of Ironman DVD. The guys from The Orphanage did a great HUD display. But what is up with the dude with striped socks on his hands? hahaa Well, he seemed to know what he was talking about so I won’t laugh too much.

All 3 of those studios did a great job on this movie. The mograph work on the Mark 1 suit was cool too.

I just finished my first project (that I actually let others see) yesterday. I used at least 5 or 6 of AKs tutorials to get it done (thanks Andrew). So yeah Les… I am experiencing withdrawals as I type this…
Maybe I’ll break out Andrew’s Serious Effects & Compositing DVD again so the shakes don’t get to bad.
We are lucky VCP is around to feed our addiction!

Wow, no more Orphanage. That is really shocking.

Maybe they lost the Ironman gig to Andrew. I guess that’s why he hasn’t posted in a while. He’s busy working on the HUD for the next Ironman. haha

Yeah!!! Amazing to hear this! If iPod can play, maybe it can also on my mobile phone. In fact, my mobile phone can play the flv files which is 320×240.

The first time I leave a message for Videocopilot, and I give all of you the best wishes in the Chinese New year! And the next Monday is the 15th of the 1st month, there will be many beautiful lamps in the street, you’ll see a ocean of lamps. If you want see it, just focus on the news edited by Chinese from the mainland.

Waiting for the publishing of new cool short tutorial s!!!
