3D MODELS
I’ve been meaning to post some new stuff lately but I’ve been smashed working on a couple of projects… One aspect involves emulating the look of a first-person-shooter like Call of Duty… What I did was started playing! I ran through the action inside the game and screen captured the video. Then using 3D tracking software I was able to extract the camera movement and bring it in to my 3D game world. Admittedly, I’ll have to slow down the movement since it will seem strange to people who are not as good as me 
*yawn*
The boujou stuff is still on the way and will be the first thing out when this is all over, just need to edit and compress the videos. I’ll try to sneak another shortcuts episode in later this week if I can find the time. In the mean time, if you hit the HOME key in After Effects it will bring you back to the beginning of the comp. NICE!

That COD project you working on sounds pretty good, hope you get a chance to get it done and post so we can see. It’s sad to say but I think the beautiful days are numbered here for us on VideoCopilot.net, because lets faced it. AK is getting the big jobs now and won’t have time for us and little side tutorials anymore

Dont worry about it dude. Do what you need to do to feed that baby of yours. My impatience has had me already start to experiment with Boujou. It’s actually pretty easy. The only problem is the trial version doesn’t let you save anything. So unless you’re going bootleg, there is always Voodoo. Voodoo isn’t so bad. You just have to use *png sequences. But hey, it’s free!

i think most of the motion tracking will be from the kill cam

I dont have access to a good quality camcorder but I never thought about using video captured from games..

Oh no! I’m currently storyboarding a Call of Duty parody short, and a COD tutorial may change a shot or two, as well as make a lot of video copilot fans think that’s I’m a “poser” and “uncreative” for using anything inspired by a tutorial.

What HAPPENED??? I was sitting at my Grandma’s house, doing some After Effects, (My grandma gives me tips on special effects since she’s seen them live in world war one
) and I pressed the home key like you said and there was this lound WOOSH and all went dark and when I opened my eyes, I found myself in my own home – 3 towns away!
What about ‘up, down, left, right, up, down, left, right, then ABC at the same time’? Ha!

I spilled coffee on my keyboard and my Home key is stuck and I really need to get to the start of the timeline. Is there any other way to get to the beginning of the timeline? I use AE CS3 and have Windows XP pro.
