Here are some screens of the stuff I’m working on. Some of it is abstract futuristic and the other is part of an action sequence. Wish I could show more…
really nice, andy. hope I’ll get there sometime in the future
Cool! can´t wait
Looks good AK!
This is my first post on the blog.
What renderer are you using in max?
You should try to blur your reflections a little because you’re getting aliasing on your reflections. In V-ray it’s really easy, with the default scanline, I’m not sure what you’d do.
Looks good
I’d just like to thank you for all you’ve put into this website, you’ve helped a lot of people.
Thank you
Cameron Sinfield
Wow, that’s really cool!
wow that is really good
and yes just like hampus i want to be there
One DAy lol
Andrew, ask someone to free new images, heheheeheh
Great job, as always.
very nice stuff.
Andrew can you show us some stuff (other then VCP ;)) u did in the past.
This looks really hot.
Jeroen
Everything looks great nice job! Were those smoke trails made in Max or AE? Love the composting and CC work on the helicopter scene.
we wanna newwwww tutorialllsssss
Andrew
The Smoke trails in that scene are AE trails with Particular. Close up ones are created with MAX and Aftreburn.
The aliasing sharpness is from exporting half resolution out of AE, full resolution takes time. That BG alone is a complete 360 degrees, almost 10K!
That is awesome thanks for the info Andrew. The only thing lacking in cinema 4d is the lack of something like afterburn. Nice job.
You say 360 degrees so are you using some camera projection and large matte paintings?
I just ordered C4D R11 which now comes with Projection Man!
Trapcode Horizon.
That was my next guess. That plug looks great. Red Giant has been on fire lately. Hope to see some more of your work and maybe even some videos :).
thanks for the info and keep up all the inspirational work.
That futuristic looking tunnel is nice too.
Excellent i’ve been waiting for a blog post! this is awesome Andrew! They must of taking a while to do!
Andrew your help and tutorials are the best not only on the interenet but anywhere thank you so much for what you have given us since 2005!
Mind if I critique?
There seems to be a lot of things in focus on the Apache Helicopter shot. The choppers are clearly in focus and so is the front of city. I could be wrong but if you could find some shots of choppers or air crafts flyings near a city might serve a good reference for how out of focus things should be. Maybe a little more noise but that is a minor thing. You seem to have a good amount in there already.
Very cool graphics though. Take care-
Ah, interesting.
Just noticed it because the star that used to be on the banner on the top of the page used to have some aliasing too.
Sounds/looks like fun!
very nice stuff.
waovv super….
I wish you could show more, too. Looks cool!
You just keep impressing me AK. That helicopter screen looks so awsome. Mind telling us what movie that is for? (if it now is for a movie) =)
holy hell that looks sexy. I am really lookin’ forward to this
wow…I cant wait to see this…
Anybody else get the feeling there may be a new VC release on the way which will have us reaching for our wallets?
I do…just a hunch…
It’ll make “The Bullet” look like “The Popgun”.
Hmmmm?
Really love it, especially the action sequence.
Wow - reminds me of Armageddon
Have you ever thought of doing a tut on afterburn
.
trapcode is great but unfortentely it wont woek on 64bit yet.. so i still use both 64bit and 32 to make it all work. but the screeny is a great job andrew classy stuff
. thanks for the info you share with all of us.
sweet work! that looks really nice!
The second one is kinda death star-ish isn’t it?
I love trapcode horizon! it is so intuitive with AE’s features. especially particular. Keep up the great work and I’m hoping for a cool tutorial on stuff like this!
Andrew, that looks fantastic!! And smoke trails, i’ve been dying to get a tutorial on how to make those look right!
That is freaking amazing Andrew!!!!!I love those 3D Titels and this 3D tunnel is looking really amazing i hope you gonna make a tut of those in future.
Looking good
Man I like it a lot… the coloring of the city is great…
you say you that the full BG is around 10k… how did u get AE to handle such high resolution?
It looks great. Awesome.
I like the ‘abstract futuristic’ stuff very much!!
World War 5 ^^
Very very COOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL
Thanks Andrew much Sci-Fi
While you’re hard at work, maybe Sam could do a shortcuts episode or something
waiting for more vids
Andrew you have a good life
Wow… the helicopter screens shot so totally baller.
hey! looks great^^
I would be glad to see this “helicopter-war-scene-image” in motion^^
looks sweet. any connection between your helicopter / call of duty 4 work?
Pretty cool man. You should make smoke trails a tutorial one day
By the power of Greyskull!!! thats awesome.
pshhhh thats not really cool or anything.
Tutorial pleeeaaaseee?
That’s really cool!
Man, I wanna be Andrew when I grow up.
Shouldn’t the smoke near helicopter be “blown” off …? or something similar?
anyways, nice job, would be nice to see more
thanks for sharing
wow, that is…that is…incredible! I want to know what is that movie, let us know.
By the way, what was the FOX series you worked on?
Hey,
I think the most far explosion needs some work, maybe be partially behind a building or something. Doesn’t completely fits.
Good luck!
That is very nice looking. Would love more information on the tunnel is you are ever able to do so.
sweet..
Hi
Nice compositing and nice elements .
Is There any tutorials or movies for these pics?
Thanks;)
Awesome, that looks sweet. Can you give us any info about the project itself, the crew involved maybe or what it’s about?
just wooooaaaawwwwhhhhooaaaa great (Im lazy these days)
wow andrew you are amazing…are you making a movie…you should totaly do a long tutorial on how to make the helicopter
am looking to buy some red gaint product dvd ,which one you think i should get ? for a cool looks that works with this kind of work please advise.
Those look sweet. In the one with the helicopters are those both 3d cause last time you showed 2 and i really couldn’t tell the difference.

Is this for a featured film? Is it Hollywood?
Nice job sir!
abhay from India
Hey Adnrew,
Awesome stuff!
I like the screen with the helicopters ![]()

http://www.videocopilot.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=2179
what do you think? :]
Looks sweet, cant wait for the tut, LOL.
That helicopter shot might be the coolest thing ever.
I could be wrong, but I don’t think a hollywood feature film would say “Custom Features” and “It’s All Here” in the graphics.
I just can’t understand how you’re doing all this awesome stuff! You’re a genius man! (sorry if I make mistakes, I’m for Quebec, Canada…so my english is not excellent:P)
where i get trapcode horizon!!??
and u have to teach how to use!!!
please!!!and create a meteor!!
amazing stuff dudes!!! respect
lol, Easy Green has sure worked a lot in the scene with the helicopters, after all its ur favourite..:P
Still Rox ! Don’t work too much this week , u have to go buy a present

I am just happy for you guys!..
Arnold
UAE
Trapcode Horizon, cool
I really hope that ur gonna make a tutorial about this cuz it looks awesome ;).
It is a very good thing for someone to see an artists work and instantly know who made the piece, most artists struggle their whole life to develop a style that sets them aside from everyone else
that being said, Andrew i really love your stuff, but what Ive started to notice is that the more people try to emulate your style the more cliche it becomes.
Andrew - if we’re talking about great links you should check this one!
Unwrap Mosaics: A new representation for video editing
A new representation for video which facilitates a number of common editing tasks. The representation has some of the power of a full reconstruction of 3D surface models from video, but is designed to be easy to recover from a priori unseen and uncalibrated footage. By modelling the image-formation process as a 2D-to-2D transformation from an object’s texture map to the image, modulated by an object-space occlusion mask, we can recover a representation which we term the “unwrap mosaic”. Many editing operations can be performed on the unwrap mosaic, and then re-composited into the original sequence, for example resizing objects, repainting textures, copying/cutting/pasting objects, and attaching effects layers to deforming objects.
Hi,
cant wait for more stuff. Nice pictures!
Man thanks awesome..i wanna try do it before you launch the tutorial…man..dis challenging..i wanna see if i can do it
sweet. Very Tron.
Your city looks kind of flat…in my opinion
very cool stuff
That city looks great man, the colors, the composition is very beatiful. What do you mean about “flat”? It doesn’t look flat in my opinion, I like the camera angle, the contrast, and the part of the city that’s far away… It looks like a mattepainting.
I don’t know Andrew. The bottom picture looks weird. I can’t quite put my finger on it, but it just seems out of place and it “looks” composited. I don’t know how to make it more realistic and after all, its your project.
But I love the two upper images. Will I learn how to create my own Digital Juice Jumpbacks for use in our church worship times? haha.
Great work as always though. You did ten times more than I can do, on the level of Hollywood.
Felicitaciones desde Chile. . . thanks
Say, this helicopter shot could be inserted perfectly into a Dr Pepper ad I recently comped in AE, with the world being blown apart by Trapcode Particular meteor bombs. (see it at http://www.bluefieldscreative.com).
Looking great Andrew!
man that looks slick AK, keep it steady man. i look forward to seeing the completed version of what you’re working on.
the explosions on the bottom do look pretty matted on though. maybe you need some debris via particular? idk, im only going off a still pic
I want to see more helicopter action!!
product product product!!!
gut stuff trapcode horizon and Cinema 4d ?
http://www.trapcode.com/gallery/mummy3_h.mov
how make this snake?
Andrew’s working on Tron 2…and this proves it
Andrew your a pimp.
It looks good Mr Kramer, but it just needs a little more cowbell….
Great screens!
But ok I was wondering how do you match the Real World camera focal distance with the 3D one? Can bojou do that or do you have to that manually. Or do you have to capture the footage set to one focal distance?
Love those space ship tunnels. Here my lame shot.
Looks like someone’s working on the new Tron film with that tunnel type shot!
I can`t wait for this tutorial Andrew!!!! looks awesome… Super Thanks from Buenos Aires to all
