I have a separate request which should be easy to do. Can you make all links (i.e. sample movies, links in the blog – even the links from the publics post- etc…) open in a new web page. I always close them out and then need to go and reopen your site again.

Andrew, i just tought of something that might be fun to do:

why dont you, everytime you think of a tutorial, post a sample of what you’re gonna learn us a week prior to the release of the tutorial. then we can try to recreate the sample and see how creative we are ourselves. i think it would really add to the training. maybe you can make a seperate page where people show their re-creation of your sample?

Am I the only person that consistently wonders how Andrew manages to cobble together FX shots that are superior to pretty much everything outside of top tier blockbuster movies (and he even shows them up occasionally). Seriously, I think about the FX on most TV series like Dr. Who or things like the Stargate series and I can’t believe how much more natural and realistic his FX look. I understand that it’s different when you are making a mockup shot that isn’t part of a larger scene, but even so the fact that he made this using just the stock tools in AE is mystifying.

Why on earth he continues to cater to us mortals by delivering tutorials here on VC rather than starting his own FX house is beyond me, but I’m not going to question it. I’ll just keep my mouth shut and hope he never realizes how talented he is.

Andrew, please disregard everything I just said.

Just a question, how much time do you spend on Video Copilot? I mean, making the DVD’s, planing, creating tutorials and other jobs/clients (?). I mean, must go alot of time on to it.

I wonder why you dont create tutorials you put on you site and people have just to pay for. Make some free, yeah.

But also make tutorials which can buy for some bucks from visitors. DVD, yes fine. But some special tutorials you spend some more time, paypal and good. I would buy it. Maybe you think so too

I think Video Copilot is clearly one of the greatest VFX resources right now. Andrew is doing awesome tutorials at an unbelievable pace.

That being said, these free tutorials do have a purpose. I’m sure they drive a ton of traffic to the website. If someone has some constructive input on how they feel it could be done better (in their opinion) I think everyone should be open to it.

And I’m not sure I agree with Andrew’s business practice of calling potential customers “trolls”.

OK, i have to try and guess what were going to be doing cause i think i may have figured out at least the paper part of this.i think were going to make a comp with a white solid and then use that “CC fold” effect (or one of those CC effects). next, were going to put this in to the CC particle world. might be right, might be wrong. just had to guess : )

Cant wait for this. First thing I do every morning is quickly check to see if there is a tutorial yet.

I keep checking for this tutorial… I noticed in the center the way you made the movement and it kinda looks like a tornado. So when you show us how to do it I am going to concentrate on that motion and put it in some outside footage by my house to make a cool looking tornado.. not to mention adding the flying paper will make it look real, and of course some of your famous camera shake! Thanks can’t wait!
