There is no tutorial for the promo planned at this time. It actually was all last minute ideas, a little ambitious perhaps but it has been tons of fun. I begin speculating about future projects when this one is done…

I bought Aaron’s DVD “Internet killed video star”.
In the credits, he thanx you for the interface.
Well, I’ve picked up many video tutorials on the web (when there’re downlaodable, there aren’t here however but the series one is the way so nevermind).

I wonder how diffcult to make the interface is, in Flash I suppose, and I wish you could try a tut on that kind of stuff. Because it would be quite easier to check my tuts this way than in the navigator. I think many others here keep some tuts on their HD they like to be able to check quickly.

Of course I can do it in basic HTML code, with direct links pointing the video files. But I’d like to take it to the next level, if you see what I mean … I’m pretty good in Photoshop, so I don’t ask you about the graphics stuff or so, but the flash code is another tricky part to me …..

So please, give us the secret (what about an example of such a basic interface as a template .fla file ? we can dream, can’t we ?), please please please …

I know it’s not the subject here, as all the others I can’t stand waiting for The Bullet (are Steeve Mc Queen’s rushes contained in ??) … But I ptomise you a bottle of my best Burgundy wine if you find the time to show me how to : you prefer red ou white ?

regarding fluid effects in After effects.
eg. , Realistic smoke, fire , liquid, clouds , dust.
is it possible in AE whitout using any fluid simulator.
I am working on that and i have done something.
Text convert to smoke and dissapear, fire flames, in a realistic way
although its not scientifically accurate.

I bet that took some time to render..hence the delay on the promo…I hope you haven’t taken on more than you can chew mate…I sit here waiting in a pool of my own excitement..for the finished promo…

Sure, but not for the classic tutorials – you pay ‘Zoll’ only for articles over 22€ (with effect from the first December, it’ 150€, not 22€ ).
For the Advanced Tutorials it’s ca. 6€ ‘Zoll’, so you pay ~38€.
So everything’s fine.

hmm anyone care to discuss the screenshot? maybe the elements in it an even theories about how it can be recreated?

for example, i think a bumb map was used on the floor, which was positioned and created very similar to the grid tutorial.

The fogish effect in the background, is possibly created using fractal noise, as in with the “creating the blue planet” tutorial. Another fogish effect is in the foreground, this time smaller and more controlled.

As the text is shattering, there seems to be some external particles in there, possibly created using particular. (as per one of the recent short tutorials, can’t quite remember the name)

In terms of lighting, i think there’s maybe a white (or very light bluish) ambient light, a yellow, orangish point light could be behind the fog in the foreground.

The text itself, maybe done in a 3d program, not sure where the shattering was done.

I am no expert by any means lol, so i could be wrong about every single thing…what are u guys theories/ agreements/ disagreements?

mayb even andrew could tell me how far or close i was.
Andrew’s creativity is amazing when it comes to these things.

I think it’s a little late; I just ordered some books from USA (I could by them here too, but there I pay 38$, here 42€…), and tomorrow I’ll order the DVDs from here.
I think there won’t be anything I want from America in the next few years
But I think it’s great anyway; the ‘Zoll’ isn’t high for those things, so it’s ok.
Some time ago I wanted to buy an XL2 from USA; I mean: it’s simply insolent that they pay less in $ than we in €. The same with Adobe Products (it’s 1:1!). Then the taxes will brake your neck

I’d say it was mostly done in 3dstudiomax, the text and the floor… In the reflection of the explosion you can see real texture so this is the most likely case. The text is relecting the floor and casting shadows in the light so that was all done in 3d. The particles may be Particular but my bet is also 3d as they seem to envelope the lettering.

The cloudy backdrop is either a solid with tweaked fractal generation or perhaps a darkened clip from the Real Clouds collection.

Has anyone here ever used Polyboost for 3ds Max?

I feel the same as most of you…I cant wait to buy the DVD’s. I have been working all night and it is 4am here and still nothing to order. =(

I wanted to order before going to sleep this morning, does not look like its going to happen….the torture Andrew…the torture!!

Polyboost is a great add-on utility for 3dsmax. It gives you so much more control when modeling and will in many cases prove to be a huge time-saver. I feel like a commercial now, but what the heck, I will advertise great products anyday. VCP ftw Ready to drain my creditcard at the release of Bullet. Hoping for a complete bundle ^^

seems like andrew used it to build the floor for the promo, may b i’m wrong.

Its already 20th May, 3:00 pm here.

I think Andrew must b releasing everything @ once next morning, We will have it as a Breakfast.

It’s not my problem – there’s still Student-Prices and soon I’m starting my study for Digital Film. I have to work with Final Cut and stuff, but thanks to god even Apple knows that After Effects is simply the best…
Maybe I can count with AK’s work there, with the bullet

Student-Prices are a nice thing, but when you finished your studies you have to pay the full price. But I think untill then, the prices at adobe will have changed.

I mean, I’m not a student right now – I got my Abi last year.

I’ll study in Hamburg at the SAE. Some people think it’s crap and stuff, but I think it’s a good choice – I mean, try to get to Ludwigsburg.
It’s damn expensive, but I think (or hope ) it will be nice. Last year I went there to inspect the location, and I think it will be nice I’m searching a flat right now. Real-Life (with paying for flats, for all on your own) is silly
