Advanced training DVD — I can’t wait!

OMG!!! YEEEEES!!!!!!!!

you could post some pictures and photos as well!

I’m so excited for this!

that’s awesome! can’t wait

Sweet! Can”t wait till May 20th

AK, can you detail the content of this product?

No specific details because the product is still in production.

MAY 20th !!! Excelent.. mmm .. I think I discovered your evil plan Andrew… that date is suspiciosly close to May 22… i supose you are working like a mad man to be free when Indiana Jones hits the movie theatres.

IM I RIGHT??? :D … By the way, congrats, your are the truly master of AE! and I bet the new stuff will be excellent as always!

Congrats again from Mexico!!

Great!

esperare impacientemente Andrew!!! :)

Great news I will be getting this advanced DVD for sure!

AK, i tried ur audio to waveform tut & THATS THE COOLEST SO FAR!
n i tried to do a little more, like parent it to a null object with track data,
(idea was to get it to like generate along the path of the null)but couldnt acomplish that……
any help would be greatly appreciated as always…

this one looks tasty!got to save some money for may 20th, hope to get a signed edition…

I have also designed a slightly different method of what I THINK you did: I think you used a modified custom particular particle, then had it go at one particle per second for the first second, then keyframe it to none then have it rotate as it passes by the camera. My method is to get a picture of a bullet against a green background, then simply keyframe it’s movements. To have it rortate, I use the motion tile featue to mirror the edgesas it moves behind a mask

Huray!!!

yes! i cant wait! ^_____^

All the crossover stuff is great. Any chance of getting more info on using ParticleIllusion with AE?

Thanks

Awesome news… Can’t wait for its release… Andrew do you have a price already set?

The Advanced training DVD will be $49.95 and the other free tutorial DVD will be $20 for the standard version and a little more for the special edition one.

did you see trapcode horizon. what are your thoughts?

Sweet! So glad you included Blender 3d, I will definitely be purchasing the advanced training dvd.

It’s great to hear that! Good work Andrew! And 20 May is just 3 days before my birthday so it’s like a present for me ;) Thanks for all great tutorials!

Hi Andrew,
welcome back from NAB!
Yesterday I was thinking: “… and the Advanced Training dvd? When it’ll be out???”
Now I’ve got the answer, thanks Mr. Kramer ;-)

Stefano

To Cameron:
my project is a little different, i want the waveform to like automatically generate along the null… ur project sounded like fun too…. thnku anyway(maybe i should try some more, more,n more ; )

by Steve Longley

I will be purchasing the whole DVD bundle as soon as our budget gets finalised. Good to hear that you will be using Blender. I’ve been trying to do the vines thing with Blender but I find it harder that Cinema 4D. Alot of the kids I teach though cannot afford C4D so blender in visual effects would be ace.

I must say that your tutorials are the best I’ve seen, and I watch a lot. Keep up the excellent work.

I just wanted to how many advanced topics will be covered, I know the Bullet sequence will be done, what else can you tease us with? Are more of them going to involve 3d? I really do hope so, as much as I might love AE, I have been spending a little time in 3DS max lately and getting more comfortable.

i dont know much about blender but i downloaded it on line and it looks intresting like the first time i took a look at after e i didnt understand a thing,my question to you guys can we do the bullet in blender or i need to buy 3dmax? thank you your answer is very importany.

Andrew Kramer , you are lucky

I was going to write a very long comment demanding why the Advanced DVD product have not be mentioned since the last time you uploaded the excerpt

Thank you for updating us ,
and OH,
I’m going to be learning blender I was thinking of getting an introductory tutorial dvd or something from somewhere I can get it but since you are going to be doing something with it I think I can wait.

I LUV VCP,

you digg?

guys any one can tell me about blender where can i understad it and learn it, and if there is a good site that explaine it good? thank you

by Alex Burrows

Hi Andrew,

Sounds awesome!! The bullet thingy looks cool. Im going to try that effect before you release the DVD, and compare;)

O wow the 3D bullet effect in Blender!!!….That means I CAN DO IT!! Andrew you’re full of good surprises!

Dude i so CAN wait, but im anxious. I’ll be ready to buy it the day it drops, you’re awesome.

kaching!

may i suggest that the old school blowing up a city tutorial be an easter egg in the special edition DVD…

looking forward to buying these.

Both of these DVDs must be considered a compulsory purchase surely!

My only worry is that I live in the UK and the last time I imported a DVD from the jolly old You-Ess or Aye I got stung enormously for import duty and VAT 13UKP on a DVD costing 26UKP – go figure – All down the Post Office in the UK and their ‘handling fee’!!

Not sure how practical it will be for tutorial DVDs but I’ll consider a download option if it’s available.

Great news. Been waiting for both these products and even already have Blender installed ready for my bullet making factory!

Looking forward to it. Sorry I missed you at NAB.
c

i recon ill buy them both.

ANDREW? will the free tutorials dvd play in a dvd player?

cheers

Hey Andrew , you are downloadable right ?

Right ?

I meant the DVD’s , not you off-course, but then again

Hi Andrew, welcome back from NAB. Your new products sound very exciting as always. Will you be offering advanced sales?

C4D….Blender….

tasty!

Just thx 4 every thing :-)

by Jacob Behunin

You said the advanced training dvd will have the bullet effect, with multiple program demonstrations. Am I correct to assume….there will be more than 1 type of tutorial on there?

Advanced!!!

Compared to what is available on the web, I find your current selection of free tutorial quite advance. I can only imagine what you have in store in this new DVD offering.

Looking forward to it.

Thank you

Blender? Boo yah! Thanks for that man :D

YES YES YES YES YES!!!!! Coolness. Yeah ok so I’m a little excited heh. I too cannot wait. =)

by Derrick van Niekerk

Thanks for letting us know when the products will be available. Is there gonna be a pre-order system again?

Thanks,
Derrick

awesome finally some info!!!! I will definitely be buying this.

Yah!!!! A friend and I were just talking about the tutorial DVD the other day. Very exciting and the Advanced DVD is a bonus. Any chance of a Bundle Special?

May 20th. Of course. That’s so Andrew can cash in and buy a ticket to see Indiana Jones on the 22nd. Duh!

my birthday is on the 14th so this is a late birthday gift YAAAAYYY

Will the bullet be using a 3ds Max camera imported into AE via RPF sequence?

I’ll definitely be purchasing the Advanced Training DVD. (I guess now the main issue will be tracking down a realistic gun replica – any ideas on what type would be best to look for?)

1 question for anyone with advanced AE/Particular knowledge: I’ve just finished the frosty breath tutorial and it’s very cool – but would anyone have any advice on how you could make the person blow smoke-rings? That’d look very cool (and i’d much rather be able to do it through after effects than to have to actually take up smoking to achieve it!)

I’m guess the 3D Orbit preset would come in handy for this but the how tos are beyond my limited knowledge at this point as i’m just a beginner. Also i’m guess Particular and the 3d Orbit preset could work together well to create some kind of cool Olympic Rings type logo – any ideas??

wow man! thats amazing to hear that it will be released soon.

cant’ wait…. thnx Andrew.

Regards
Sandy

Thanks Andrew! Can’t wait! I’ll definitely purchase both DVDs! You’re work is amazing!

Sadly, I am very new to C4D and have NO CLUE how to export or import that work into AE.. the only thing I know to do is go to preview movie and just take the black matte off the background

=(

ًwaiting for it……..

AWESOME!!!

at long last … ultimate knowledge is within reach.. *evil grins*

by Dustin James

I’m excited!!!

Two more to add to my collection – these things are damned addictive, but so, soooo good!

COOL I Want that advanced DVD NOW…………..

sweet m8,

im guessing this is gonna be as much of a blast as all the others.

very nice, i really like the idea of “advanced” though it’ll make us even more pro then you already made us!

but have fun at work il be going to continue as well now =P

*Jason* if you don`t know how to import it into AE, just see the tutorial, or not just save it for a png sequence, but first make a folder to save them in

Great Stuff Mr. Kramer. Just one quick question.

Are they going to be available for download or like the Serious FX & Compositing COW series, will be only on DVD.

Thanks

oh my god,really cooool!

Hi Andrew,

I was waiting that hard for the Advanced Training Series… and finally, only 20 days after my Birhtday, it will be available… YEHA! :-D

WOWWWWW

That’s Fantastic
We Can’t wait for It.

Did I allready say that you are my hero?

sounds awesome – can we pre order copies?

also – do you get any of our emails andrew? RE: indiana jones video?

I was wondering if you had used Blender for any of your work. I’ve been messing with it, along with Cinema 4D on a few things.

Hey Andrew. Good news. Gives me 11 days to do all the after/effects for the shots before handin-deadline..I hope thats enough :s

One thing I’d like to ask is, in the video clip you posted last month with sam taking the shot, is that all the video we need? Are there are rules as to angles of shot, speed on the pan, etc etc etc. I’m going to be doing my filming on May 10/14th so obviously the tutorial wont be out by then….any advice for the actual filming would be great in advanced…if possible.

-David May

Oh crikey..just read someones post about shipping – PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE make this dvd available for download….please! This bullet shot is reason for my entire BA major!

-Dave

May 20th is a good week! Two awsome product releases and Indi comes out two days later.

Excellent news! Keep up the great work, VCP Team!

Credit card in hand….poised for ordering! Can’t wait!!!!

by tommie12P(Thorsten Miess)

Blender rocks!! I like it , think i will buy….!!!! wich day is it? how long i have to wait?

Andrew, just to be clear, is the “Series One” a compilation of the free tutes on your site, or are they 50 new ones?

YAY!!! Just one week before my birthday!!!! Man…. still one month and so to go. This is gonna be a long wait. You rule, Mr. Kramer

Hmm… bad timing for the PS3 owners… our money’s going to Haze released May 20 :)

Isn’t May 20th your anniversary? Well with all the sales from these DVD’s you should really get your wife something nice!

Free ones. I wish I was sitting on 50 new ones…

Can’t wait for the new DVD. I was at NAB this week as well, thought about askin around if you’d be there and get a chance to meet face to face but was pretty overwhelmed with the plethora of other distractions. Did you happen to notice that your stuff is littered across the video boards of the Miracle Mile Shops at the Planet Hollywood Casino?? Thought you might enjoy hearing that if you didn’t get a chance to see it!

Andrew, you should post some pictures and some of the features of the advanced training dvd, or make a feature movie!

Perfect, I need this new DVD

I can’t wait, in order to make the cool bullet project do you have to have the cinema 4D or Blender to do it or can it be made inside AE without them? and if you need it what pogram do you recommend?

HAHA I love this Blog! So many questions so few answers!

Hey Andrew. Good news. Gives me 11 days to do all the after/effects for the shots before handin-deadline..I hope thats enough :s

-David May

@Mike: AE is only meant for compositing and motion graphics. It can only go so far into 3D animation and effects.

Too bad the tutorial isn’t for Maya. I suppose the learning curve is too steep for most of the users here. Cinema 4D is good through, nice and easy :)

AK,
Off topic, but I just saw a spot for the L.A. Galaxy (that’s our soccer team) that used Evolution.

For every one concerned about not having a 3D program:

Blender is a extremely strong free (open source) 3D application which is developed at high pace by several hundred coders aorund the world.

There are lots of free video tutorials out there:

http://www.gryllus.net/Blender/3D.html

http://www.blendernation.com/category/tutorials/videotutorials/

have fun!

You complete me.

excellent…
i have specifically gotten into cinema 4d because it just opens up the possibilities…
i wish you would do much more in the 3d realm bro… your format for teaching real world techniques is by far the best.

i just nabbed a great job and all this after effects stuff might just get me a fat paycheck.

THANKS AGAIN

NICK

Cannot Wait. Best news I’ve had all week.

GREAT! Can’t wait, I am glad you had fun at NAB 2008

keep up the good work

For the third time;

Great news Andrew – hopefully an Advanced Series:-) Any chance of making them downloadable (after paying of course) the import charges can be quite steep here in the UK.

are this dvds playable in a TV dvd player? i mean… a DVD Video?

or there are just pc files inside a dvd?

Hi AK,

If possible please make the Advanced DVD downloadable, same situation here in the Netherlands what VAT concerns.

Recently I ordered some DVD’s at Amazon and after paying customs… They where more expensive then in the local shop…

Grtz from Windmill county :)

ONE MONTH AND COUNTING!!! Can’t wait, Andrew!

SWEET. Can’t wait Andrew!

andrew, will you ever do a tutorial of some sort on artificiallighting within after effects espically for blue screen work?

One thing I’d like to ask is, in the video clip you posted last month with sam taking the shot, is that all the video we need? Are there are rules as to angles of shot, speed on the pan, etc etc etc. I’m going to be doing my filming on May 10/14th so obviously the tutorial wont be out by then….any advice for the actual filming would be great in advanced…if possible.

Andrew? are you even reading?

Relaxxxx David!

AK is not reading but the opposite, he is writing! What? Most probably the tutorial you are asking about! So bite the bullet for some time and be patience…
Regarding your question, you see Sam moving a little so I presume its not just a still but real moving footage? I would make your shots the way you see them in the example in all different kind of speeds and angles.

Good luck!

Rob

I know you said you’d do the bullet in a 3D animator, but can we expect anything else? You’ve really given me new inspiration in AE and I’m starting to look towards C4D or Blender but I’m a COMPLETE novice in that respect..

- Marto

Ok rob. cheers. I just can’t afford to get this wrong, its pretty much the entire reason for writing my piece ;) I’ll just do a crack load of pans and hopefully one will be right.

can’t wait for buy
20th will be the DAY

Still can’t wait. I wander what else will be on the DVD…

I luv u Andrew.
