Yeah, a friend of my friend was the medic on the set for the whole shoot. He ended up with Indy’s satchel after the shooting was over. They were going to make the whip all CGI, but I guess that Harrison refused to shoot with anything other than a real whip. Sweet.

I like how they kept the same “style” by not creating a “2008″ look/ambiance that would be too revolutionnized (like the last James Bond Pierce Brosnan did). To cut it short, it looks awesome.

I hate that producers rely on so much cg now…..if they would have done the whip cg that would have been AWFUL. It just seems like there is less of a focus on the story, and more of a focus on the cg……..maybe that’s just me though.

I saw the trailer on the official website a couple of hours ago and i think the movie is gonna be awesome.
My parents watched the original “Raiders” in theater and they are gonna watch this one for sure.

Loved the other 3 movies, they’re awesome. Got the origional poster on my wall.

Like they say “all good things must come to an end.” You can’t be serious when you say this looks good, in my opinion it’s another one of those money making schemes by Hollywood, for example just look at the colors and CGI it looks horrible. Another thing I can’t stand is the actor Shia LaBeouf I am sorry but this guy acts exactly how he did in the show “Even Stevens.” I think I will hold on to my money and buy another DVD from Andrew Kramer.

At 00:59 there’s a soldier appearing behind the most back soldier from nothing! At that time there’s a black spot on the building wich moves along where the soldier was supposed to appear. The soldier walks from te left to the right.

Another point in this trailer where something is wrong happens at 1:08. Indy swings backwards to the truck, his behind is almost on the hood of the truck and far below the roof of the truck, in the scene transition that follows Indy is landing with his behind on the roof of the cabine from the truck.

Not very important but it could be done better. right Andrew?

at (1:14) Indy is in the car in front of the truck where he crashed into by his swinging adventure, how?. At 1:16 you can see that the truck is fully recovered from the damage caused by Indy, how?. Indy is magic

The Indiana Jones title at the end is cool, 3D indiana jones title with a rusty texture. I’m going to create it myself.

There are much cool effects in this trailer, i’m going to modify those effects for my own projects.

you are not wrong about the cgi pants. it turns out, the international trailer has, no american flag, and winstones pants are fine. In the american trailer, look at the guns in the first shot of indi when he says “not as easy as it used to be”, all the guns have been lowered. I can only think this has been done because the trailer was released in the morning. but i just hope its not spielberg doing what he did to E.T

I think the removal of the guns is because of the “The following preview has been approved for all audiences by the MPAA” thing. The guns would mean violence and this is bad for the sensitive American eyes. There are often two versions of trailers: the one is the edited US trailer and the other is the unrated international trailer (like the trailers of “Kiss Kiss Bang Bang”, “Hard Candy” or “Into the Blue”).

although i’m really looking forward to this, i have to say that some of the cgi reminded me of the recent king kong movie, saying that, it still looks great and i’ll be in the cinema for sure.

I’m a huge fan of Indiana Jones but I can’t help but hear a little Asian voice in my ear telling me to cover my heart. I’m glad it took 15 years to make since my respect for Lucas has gone down. Spielberg is this movie’s only hope. Harrison Ford hasn’t really acted since Fugitive. Which sucks since it, Mosquito Coast, Regarding Henry, and so many of his other early movies were awesome. I will definitely go see it and will definitely not get my hopes up.

Thanks for the links simondo! The MPAA strikes again… So hopefully we’ll see the uncensored version in the actual film when it’s got its PG13 rating or whatever. Still seems like an inane thing to censor even just for the trailer.

Re: the rest of the CG work. I love the look of it. I especially love how hokey the shot of Blanchett in the car looks. Reminds me of the greenscreen work on the waterraft shot in Temple of Doom.

And on the one-liners: The Indy films have always had tons of cheesy one-liners. This shouldn’t be any different.

The trailer premiered with a children’s movie, so it in not a surprise that the guns were lowered. I’m sure there is some dark stuff in this movie and they want to make it lighter for the first trailer too. Not too mention they may not have had time to edit it for the international trailers because of the time it takes to deliver it to all the distributors. Obviously a quick job done at the last minute for the US version.

yah looks like a bad vfx work but its just the preview as we all know some times the previews come out before all the post its done so i hope thats the reason.

theres the thing of cgi pants, the third (left to right) soldier arms i think to cover the original position of the gun as well of the first soldier is placed over the original
also the boxes are simple layers on 3d space same for the tow soldiers getting in frame, you can see some roto erros going on.

the cool thing is watchin this kind of things tell us that we can use simple tecniques as those and make our own shots look great in after effects i think im going to try this shot by my own

To hear the Indy theme music was great, although they used the main theme from ‘Children of Dune’ for the first part of the trailer.

You can find the Indy font searching for Fedora SF . The ‘Crystal Skull font’ seems like a pretty basic sans serif font to me, actually, with some 3D en textures added.

Awesome, almost 20 years later. Looking forward to it. It’s funny that, as far as I know, George Lucas always releases his films around the 20th of May. Or am I wrong?

The italic Russel Square font is very close to the one used in the logo.

Update: Russel Square font looks like the one used in PREVIOUS logos… Now that I pay more attention to the new logo, it’s quite different.

So, apparently there’s an MPAA rule that no gun can be pointed directly at someone in the same frame in a trailer. Which is beyond ridiculous.

Oh, god!

That quality breaks my eyes into thousands of little pieces, maybe millions as I cannot see anything! Did the person that put this video on youtube see that this quality is actually crap? I’am not working with HD stuff eighter (it still is close to it), but this is really I never saw before.

It isn’t loading slow, it’s probably just your pc or internet connection…
