Hi there Andrew – Big fan of your site and your tutorials (It’s like a soap for me – I can’t wait for the next episode)

I just started playing around with creating my own promo….made the score and everything (DSFX – great product BTW)

I don’t expect a tutorial for creating a promo – I have already watched how you do that with the tutorials in DSFX and Riot Gear….but I am soooo new to this maybe a tutoria with tips on transitioning/combining the small comps?

Nothing huge are too time consuming? as the creation and the design of them I am cool with….just the bits inbetween – I get lost with.

Just a thought…?

Oh and I would pay over $150 for a “How to create” promo DVD – and I don’t even do it for personal gain…(Is that sad??)

Anyways – Thanx again Andrew for all your free tutes and great DVD’s!

Andrew, You can teach us your style and bank on it at the same time.So why not take us to the next level and teach us some serious trailer techniques…Don’t get me wrong what you have taught us already is priceless…What i am interested in is some commercial producing technics,Don’t worry I won’t take your job…LOL.
Everybody and anybody who has or will use Andrews Techniques needs to buy his products/Training DVD’s and support this man!!! Andrew I am a local commercial producer in Arizona and would love some commercial tutorials.P.S. I own everything you have put out so far…I am not asking for handouts.

Fishsticks. I was hoping there was some magical way to create camera moves for motion graphics that didn’t involve an obese psd, ungodly render times, and 5 consecutive red bulls. Bummer. Oh well… I’ll just drop out of art school and start a career as a hobo.

easy andrew, quality work you got going on here
I’ve recently discovered after effects to work on some video post production stuff for my course at university, i can’t tell you how much of a help your site has been!
An area that particularly interests me in after effects is exactly what Evolution demonstrates – animated 2D vector graphics – they always look amazing. I was wondering if you could post some idea of how to create these graphics?…not that the evolution designs arent good enough, ive just been trying for ages to animate my own designs and am struggling a little…

anyway i’ll stop rambling. great work dude keep it up

A quick question…

You say that you rarely animate a camera directly, instead you use a null object to do so. I was wondering why this is so.

I used to the same thing, until I figured out how to turn the point of interest off on the cameras, now animating the camera directly is no different (in my mind, or the way I work) than with a null object. Am I missing some level of complexity? If I am I’d gladly switch back!

ok, so ive gone over this a couple time and im making good progress. this is the first time ive ever animated a color property over time (BG texture turns from blue to green in on part of the promo), i tried something similar and the result looks amazing… just thought id throw this out here cause this make for a really nice effect with a little keyframe work and motion blur.
