Free Twister Tutorial

This is one of the seven tutorials included with Evolution that I decided to put online for free. This tutorial highlights one of the cool features of Evolution, the Twister Preset.

Watch Tutorial

Now, I know this tutorial doesn’t help anyone right now, but I wanted to show you first hand how this product works. We will also be releasing more free tutorials, that are not on the DVD, to show even more ways to use this great product.

Of course the twister preset works with virtually all languages of After Effects and as our good friend Aharon Rabinowitz pointed out, you can use this preset with other video elements like Riot Gear as well.

Hope to see you on November 12th 2007!

Please be sure to sign up for the newsletter (below the promo) and we’ll keep you updated.

I have a litttle OffTopic Question, i have a Spanish version of Windows, and that make my AE installs in Spanish and i hete it, it's very frustrating to find some effects. Anybody know how to change the lenguaje of the app.?????
November 7th, 2007 @ 1:45 pm
In the languages folder you should be able to run AE in the English version. Also Twitch is almost completed. These product take time. Just as Evolution has been in progress for months.
November 7th, 2007 @ 1:57 pm
hi andrew, love your tutorials, i have learned a 95% of after effects techiques whit you, and i'd like to get evolution :)
November 7th, 2007 @ 2:10 pm
Jajaja i feel a little bit stupid, thank's Andrew
November 7th, 2007 @ 2:17 pm
You were always using four of the same clips in the timline, but are you able to use four or more different clips and have them linked to the same twister preset without having to precompose anything?
November 7th, 2007 @ 2:23 pm
i have to be honest, im 15, buying production premium and a computer to handle has drained all my money. Im trying to buy a nicer camera, but everything i know is because of you and like the 10000 page manuals that came with it. and this is way to cool, look out for an order from me hopefully within the next few weeks or so.
November 7th, 2007 @ 2:38 pm
Jesse, you can use multiple elements in the same Twist. Simple add 4 different elements and apply the secondary FX preset to each of them.

November 8th, 2007 @ 8:56 am
How many people did you have working on Evolution, and how long did it take to complete all of the animations?
November 8th, 2007 @ 9:03 am
Andrew. Can I ask one favor? Can we have an online version of the gallery? Because It would be nice to be able to quickly look at an overview of all the included animations before I shell out the 95 bucks. lol.
November 8th, 2007 @ 10:16 am
Hello Andrew, and see if you could make a tutorial to run down a person, you know? You are the best! Goonieerga, Edgar, Vendrell (Tarragona) Catalunya
November 8th, 2007 @ 10:21 am
Hi Andrew!

This looks great, You work really fast i think people dont realize the amount of work you accomplish in such a short time, you work on projects at the same time you do side tutorials you have a life etc.. now i'l ask the same question Jason asked, how long did it take, and how many people are working on Evolution?

Oh and Congrats Jason on your Bug video, looks awsome!! *****
November 8th, 2007 @ 11:09 am
Well Bobby and I animated all of the elements. He had the fun job of separating all of the elements into individual layers first :)

I'm not sure exactly how long this took but we've been working on it for several months I would say at least 4. That includes the last 4 weeks I've been working on the promo and additional bonus features like tutorials design projects and web page etc.

Of course I should mention that Patrick, pre-formats the webpages from my photoshop designs and actually makes them work. Not having to do that anymore is a great thing. He a code genius.
November 8th, 2007 @ 1:32 pm
Yes they take a lot of time to make...
I'm sure glad Andrew and Bobby did all the work for this product :)

This took me over 1 1/2 hours :(

and it's just a very, very simple one nothing special
November 8th, 2007 @ 1:49 pm
ANDREW , would u please tell me what's that soundtrack that u used in Evoluotion Promotion ?
Would u please tell me it's name and where can i get it ?
November 8th, 2007 @ 2:07 pm

Tehy are called Trailer music many company's produce them, I know this is not the answer you are seeking but in case you need a starting point for a Google Search try

November 8th, 2007 @ 4:37 pm
hello ANDREW
is possible that you make a TUTORIAL of the MOVEMENT OF CAMARA of the DVD Evolution?

i'm from CHILE...
Juan Francisco
November 8th, 2007 @ 5:41 pm
3 things:
1. The animations are pre-keyed?
2. I just love the texture 22 :D lol
3. Thanks for including the twister preset spanish version (I'm from Peru btw)
Dustin James
November 8th, 2007 @ 7:17 pm
@ Juan Francisco

I think the whole point is that they are pre-keyed.

I was kidding about the meeting each other... (although it would be nice to go to a seminar)
November 9th, 2007 @ 3:16 am
I know this dosnt refer to this topic, but hail to andrew! man i cant expres myself enough how helpful you are. i just love you man! :)

November 9th, 2007 @ 7:02 am
Its quite possible, ;) that Andrew used his own Designer Sound FX to create the music for the promo. ???
November 9th, 2007 @ 2:11 pm
This preset is great Andrew!! It's so useful for just about anything :) Thanks man! I'll be purchasing evolution soon - keep up the great work.
November 10th, 2007 @ 8:11 am
Uhm, twister seems to have some of the same functions as echospace from trapcode. :P
Matt, UK
November 10th, 2007 @ 1:08 pm
Well Scott I just watched "echospace from trapcode" interesting contrast to AK.

Hey Andrew
I've just used face warp tut for the umpteenth time, think I know it by heart now!

I must admit Evolution did not appeal to me (I'm not from the omfgwtf crew) but further reading here has persuaded me otherwise on this product. Plus on the basis of previous AK guidance & the 30+ free tuts, then count me in as a VCP supporter

p.s also we've got a good exchange rate here ;)
November 10th, 2007 @ 1:21 pm
I just watched the echospace demo and Yes the twister works similar to the Echospace plugin but actually the inspiration for this preset came from After Effects CS3 shape layers and the repeater parameter.
November 11th, 2007 @ 4:34 pm
First comment I've posted on your site, but thank you so much for all the work you do. Awesome presets and tutorials. It has definitely helped my AE skills grow. Evolution looks awesome!

Andrew, I just purchased your evolution dvd, actually just came today. I'm totally blown away, and the tutorials alone are worth the money. I got the riotgear/evolution bundle, the price was perfect and now I can start learning some cool effects. Some of them are a little overused these days but who cares, i've always wanted to know how to accomplish some of these features. Later and thanks Andrew. Keep em coming!
November 19th, 2007 @ 11:48 am
